A Study on the Analytical Methods Using Solid-phase Extraction for the Determination of Phenols in Water

  • Based on solid phase extraction, gas chromatography and mass spectrometry procedure for determining phenol and its derivatives in natural water was presented. In solid phase extraction, three types of techniques using solid phase adsorption material were treated with acid and salt, and converted second portion of acetyl derivatives. Under the these condition, extraction efficiency and detection ability dependent on extraction methods were discussed. Obtained results using optimized solid phase extraction techniques showed more convenience, simplifier and lower cost than the conventional analytical methods with holding wide dynamic range and lower detection limits.

  • Using a three-dimensional (3-D) FE analyses, this paper provides the shape optimization of the standard test specimen for the torsion test, as well as a method for analyzing effects of misalignment under the angular and concentric misalignment. For verification, FE analysis is performed, which is designed for the perfectly full-model. To optimize the design shape of the torsion-controlled fatigue test specimen, we performed sensitivity analysis using shape parameters. Additionally, two kinds of misalignment (angular misalignment and concentric misalignment) are applied to the circular and tubular specimens to show effects of misalignments in the FE analysis. The present results will provide valuable information for designing shafts for every kind of mechanical system under torsional force.

  • This paper implements 2X2 MIMO Long Term Evolution (LTE) base station using Software defined radio (SDR) technology. The implemented base station system processes baseband signals on a Graphics Processor Unit(GPU). GPU is a high-speed parallel processor which provides very important advantage of using a very powerful C-based programming environment that is Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA). The implemented software-based base station system processes baseband signals through GPU. It utilizes USRP2 as its RF transceiver. In order to guarantee a real-time processing of LTE baseband signals, we have adopted well-known signal processing algorithms such as frame synchronization algorithms, ML detection, etc. using GPU operating in parallel processing.

  • The cells of Campylobacter jejuni treated with physical or chemical disinfection agents were comparatively examined by scanning and transmission electron microscopies for their morphological features and internal ultrastructures. The normal cells of C. jejuni, showed typical spiral rod shapes. The ribosomes, nucleoids, and other cellular constituents were observed to be distributed evenly throughout the cytoplasm. The cells treated with heat or UV-light were changed to spherical or irregular shapes and their cell envelopes were destroyed to form ghost cells by liberating their cytoplasmic components. The cells treated with chlorine or monochloramine were also changed into irregular round shapes. The chlorinated cells showed very rough surface structures with many blob-like protrusions, while the surface of the monochloramine-treated cells appeared to be relatively smooth.

  • The first developed engineering plastic and synthetic fiber, Nylon has been widely used because of its excellent properties. Recently, electrospinning has been gradually spotlighted as a different method of producing fibers, in which fibers of submicron can be consistently produced [1,2]. In this work, we have prepared nanofiber non-woven from Nylon 66 of which properties were investigated. The morphological properties of Nylon 66 non-woven was observed by SEM. (omitted)

Nonlinear analysis of cable-supported structures with a spatial catenary cable element

  • This paper presents a spatial catenary cable element for the nonlinear analysis of cable-supported structures. An incremental-iterative solution based on the Newton-Raphson method is adopted for solving the equilibrium equation. As a result, the element stiffness matrix and nodal forces are determined, wherein the effect of self-weight and pretension are taken into account. In the case of the initial cable tension is given, an algorithm for form-finding of cable-supported structures is proposed to determine precisely the unstressed length of the cables. Several classical numerical examples are solved and compared with the other available numerical methods or experiment tests showing the accuracy and efficiency of the present elements.

  • We report a new approach to fabricate electrospun polymer nonwoven mats with porous surface morphology by varying the collector temperature during electrospinning. Polymers such as poly(L-lactide) (PLLA), polystyrene (PS), and poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc) were dissolved in volatile solvents, namely methylene chloride (Me) and tetrahydrofuran (THF), and subjected to electrospinning. The temperature of the collector in the electrospinning device was varied by a heating system. The resulting nonwoven mats were characterized by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), field emission SEM (FESEM), and atomic force microscopy (AFM). We observed that the surface morphology, porous structure, and the properties such as pore size, depth, shape, and distribution of the nonwoven mats were greatly influenced by the collector temperature.

  • Male specific protein (MSP) was identified and purified from the hemolymph of Galleria melloneffa L. by electrophoresis and anion exchange chromatography. MSP has a native molecular weight of 55 kDa as determined by gel filtration chromatography and consists of a single unit with the apparent molecular weight of 27 kDa and has the pl of approximately 5.8. MSP is present in the hemolymph from day 8 pupae throughout the male adult. MSP was also found in pupal fat body, adult fat body, and adult testis.

  • 컴포넌트 소프트웨어는 고객 요구에 맞는 다양한 소프트웨어의 신속한 개발과 강력한 재사용성이라는 특성으로 소프트웨어 개발업체는 물론 최종 사용자들의 만족도를 크게 높여줄 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 웹 브라우징 도메인 분석을 통하여 CBD를 가장 효과적으로 지원해주는 차세대 방법론인 카탈리시스를 이용하여 WBC(Web Browsing Component)를 설계하고 COM(Component Object Model) 기반으로 구현함으로써 특화된 컴포넌트(SWF Display)를 확보할 수 있었고, 또한 웹 브라우징 컴포넌트의 설계공정을 제시함으로써 패키지 컴포넌트 설계의 한 모델을 제시하였다.

  • Many analysis methods, including finite element method, have been suggested and used for assessing the integrity of cracked structures. In the paper, in order to analyze arbitrarily shaped three dimensional cracks in an infinite body, the finite element alternating method is extended. The cracks are modeled as a distribution of displacement discontinuities by the displacement discontinuity method and the symmetric Galerkin boundary element method. Applied the proposed method to several example problems for planner cracks in finite bodies, the accuracy and efficiency of the method were demonstrated.
