This paper examines inquiries generated in three different online educational programs in Korea at the secondary educational level. Data covers 12,023 inquiries recorded during the first semester of 2019 and the compared groups among three programs are divided by four criteria: its type, period, inquirer, and the way of response. Statistical comparisons using Chi-square test suggest that there are significant differences in frequency rates of inquiries among three programs. First, 'Program A' has more inquiries by student themselves, mostly in the middle of the semester about the contents. Second, inquiries are more frequent for 'Program B' by the coordinating teachers about system-related or evaluation-related questions, either at the beginning or the end of the semester. Third, in the case of 'Program C', parents of health-impaired students are the main inquirers who ask admin-related questions at the beginning of the semester. With respect to the way of response to inquiries, more than 95% of inquiries are answered immediately for all three programs. These quantitative findings are also supported qualitatively, by face-to-face interviews with operators of the three programs. Results of this paper can be used for educational practitioners and experts when they design and operate the customized online educational programs with different purposes and different target-students in the future.

This study was to investigate the perception of middle school students on the management of the curriculum $\ulcorner$Technology Home Economics$\lrcorner$ according to the 7th National Curriculum. The subjects were 494 third grade students from middle schools located in Seoul, in order to inquire into their perceptions through the questionnaire. The collected data was analyzed with the descriptive statistics, Pearson Chi-Square, t-test, and one-way ANOVA by SPSS Win ver. 12.0 program. The major findings were as follows: Firstly there were gender differences on the interests for the subject of $\ulcorner$Technology Home Economics$\lrcorner$. The girls who were interested in the subject were much more numerous than the boys, but only in the technology part of it, the boys were more interested than the girls. Secondly the students recognized that the experiment & practice for learning $\ulcorner$Technology Home Economics$\lrcorner$ was important. They, however, recognized that its operation in school was not enough to understand the contents. The higher a student viewed the importance of the experiment & practice on $\ulcorner$Technology Home Economics$\lrcorner$, the higher his perception of its usefulness in real life. Thirdly the highest ranking of its usefulness for the contents of the subject $\ulcorner$Technology Home Economics$\lrcorner$ was identified as 'the Computer and Information Processing' and 'the Nutrients and Diet in Adolescence'. These findings suggest that the importance of the experiment & practice was enhanced and the gender differences on the usefulness of the experiment & practice on the each units were considered in order to increase the degree of the students' interest and usefulness of the $\ulcorner$Technology Home Economics$\lrcorner$

Objective: Falling is a common cause of head injury in preschool aged children. We investigated the characteristics of mild head injuries caused by falling and the association between body weight and occurrence of traumatic brain injuries (TBI). Methods: This retrospective observational study was conducted on head-injured preschool-aged children that visited the emergency department from January 2012 to December 2015. Characteristics such as age, sex, weight, free fall height, floor type, and presence of TBI, as defined as cerebral hemorrhage or skull fracture, were investigated. We calculated body weight percentiles by calibrating age and weight and categorized them into four quartile ranges. We grouped all included cases into two groups according to the presence of TBI. The characteristics of the two groups were compared by using chi-square test, and the association with TBI was investigated by using binomial logistic regression. Results: A total of 701 children were included, and TBI was observed in 95 children. Children with TBI were younger. The proportion of children with TBI was higher in the third and fourth quartiles of the body weight group as well as according to soft floor and fall from high height (${\geq}1m$). The odds of soft floor being associated with TBI was higher than the odds for hard floor (odds ratio, 2.734; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.597-4.680). The odds of high height (${\geq}1m$) being associated with TBI was higher than that for low height (odds ratio, 2.306; 95% CI, 1.155-4.601), and the odds ratio for the weight percentile group was 1.228 (95% CI, 1.005-1.499). Conclusion: Prevalence of TBI after falling in preschool-aged children might be associated with high fall-height and body weight quartiles.

This is a descriptive study to investigate the association between types of menstrual sanitary products used and menstrual discomfort. The participants included 1,484 women who used either disposable sanitary pads or tampons, out of a total of 1,571 women aged 19-40 years and data collection was conducted from September 2020 to August 2021. The survey was conducted through an online and mobile survey platform, with participants proceeding to take part after clicking the 'agree' button. Data analysis involved 1:4 propensity score matching, descriptive statistics, chi-square tests, t-tests, and hierarchical regression analysis. The results indicated that among the participants, 94.1% used disposable sanitary pads, while 5.9% used tampons. In the final model, significant influencing factors identified were age 30 or older (β=-.157, p=.043), standing for 1-4 hours at work (β=-.131, p=.040), experiencing sleep disorders (β=.337, p<.001), and tampon use (β=.130, p=.005). Therefore, it is essential for nurses to incorporate information about various menstrual sanitary products' characteristics into their menstrual education for women of reproductive age.

This study analyzed the incidence of wound infection after the operation of mandibular third molar extraction in relation with antibiotic prophylaxis with the object of young and healthy patients. The study object was 1,177 mandibular third molars of 850 men of 20 to 25 years old without any specific systemic disease. Three methods of preventive antibiotic medication were selected according to the preventive antibiotic medication previously reported; three experimental groups were selected based on them, and the antibiotic used was amoxicillin($^{(R)}Kymoxin$, Yuhanyanghaeng, Seoul). The group 1 includes the patients that took the antibiotic orally before the operation(one hour earlier, 500mg) and for three days after the operation(250mg per time, three times/day), the group 2 is the ones that took the same antibiotic orally only once about one hour before the operation(500mg), and the group 3 did not take any antibiotics before and after the operation. And to compare the difficulties and the degrees of extraction during operations which can be possibly related to the wound infection after the operations, the mandibular third molars' impacted depths and extraction methods were investigated as well. To check if the wound was infected, observations with an internal of one week were performed twice after the operation, and the meaningfulness of the infection incidence was verified through Chi-square test using SPSS program(SPSS Inc., IL, USA). There was no statistically significant difference between the antibiotic medication methods and the wound infection incidence after the operation among the experimental groups. As examining the relations between the mandibular third molar operation methods and the wound infection incidence after the operation, there existed a statistically meaningful difference in the infection incidence according to the operation methods(p=0.020). And there was no statistically significant difference in the wound infection incidence according to the impacted depth of the mandibular third molar. Therefore, it is thought that there exists little necessity of prophylatic antibiotics medication when extracting the mandibular third molar of young and healthy men without any systemic disease in general; however, in case when it is expected that the possibility of infection will be high or the wound on the tissue will be severe, it is sure that the prophylactic antibiotics medication will be necessary.
The aim of this study was to assess the association between recommendation of sugar-free oral medicines and the knowledge, attitude and awareness regarding oral health in Korean pharmacists. A total of 223 pharmacists were invited to participate, and the response rate was 67.7%(n=151). Chi-square test and Logistic regression models were conducted using SPSS 18.0K for Windows(Version 18.0, SPSS Inc, USA). Pharmacists with high scores oral health knowledge or awareness more have recommended of sugar-free oral medicines compared to pharmacists with low scores oral health attitude or awareness. We found that oral health attitude and awareness was significantly associated with recommendation of sugar-free oral medicines of pharmacists. Future research is required to develop oral health education program for the role of pharmacist as an oral health adviser.

Objectives : The region of chromosome 5p14 is known to be associated with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The cadherin9 (CDH9) and cadherin10 (CDH10) genes are located in the region of chromosome 5p14 and reported to be associated with ASD in the Caucasian population. We performed an association study to identify if single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) located on the CDH9 and CDH10 genes are associated in the Korean population. Methods : Genomic DNA was extracted from the blood of 214 patients with ASD and 258 controls. SNPs selected from two genes were genotyped using an Illumina Golden-Gate Genotyping assay with VeraCode technology. Statistical analysis was performed using SAS and Plink software. Results : All controls and ASD patients were in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. In the results of logistic regression analyses for the genotype model and the chi-square test for the allele model, we found that SNPs on the CDH9 and CDH10 genes were not associated with ASD. Conclusion : Our data suggests that the CDH9 and CDH10 genes are not associated with ASD in the Korean population.
This study was to investigate the differences of functional health status and medical service experience and needs between general and vulnerable older people in community. This study is a cross-sectional descriptive research. The data obtained through direct visit surveys from November to December 2016. The target population of the study was older people over 65 years old, the final study subjects were 444 older people residing in one district of Seoul. The chi-square test was conducted to confirm the difference in their functional health areas and medical service experiences, and the necessity of medical service utilization in accordance to the social class. In the experience of abnormality in functional health, the vulnerable older people had higher experience in cognitive function, nutrition, hydration, pain, and falling than the general older people. The rate of experience of using medical service to solve the cognitive function problem for general older people was 31.9%, higher than that of the vulnerable older people. In contrast, the medical service utilization needs of the vulnerable older people in the pain management category was significantly higher than that of the general older people. In setting policy of public medical service programs for general and vulnerable older people in community may be differentially developed based on this study. In order to improve the medical accessibility of the vulnerable older people, public medical institutions should be actively supported to overcome obstacles to medical use due to economic barriers.
