  • In the present study, a contact search and check algorithm for general tool surface described by triangular FE patch is proposed. To improve numerical stability, SEAM element using the linear Coons interpolation has been used. To check the proposed algorithm, both clover cup and L-shape cup deep drawing processes are calculated. The computed results shows that the proposed contact algorithm can be successfully applied for sheet metal forming processes with general shaped tools.

  • Nowadays advanced manufacturing companies are trying to find a way to check the performance of their production equipments and plants from remote sites. However, it is hard to monitor the status of machine or to check the performance of the processes because the regional limitation of distributed environment. This paper presents research results in the real time monitoring of machining processes and internet_based operation of machining centers via internet, which is implemented using VRML and JAVA.

  • PACS has been run at the Kyung Hee University Medical Center since 2001, and the installation and operation of PACS have contributed to automation and quantification of center's medical environment. In order to classify tile annual number of trouble cases processed by PACS, the authorshave made a classification code system which enabled detailed statistical processes for each section. Such process method has not only shown the management efficiency to trouble management of PACS, but also raised the interests in frequently occurring troubles, and enabled the prediction of troubles that may occur hereafter. Predictable troubles lead to preventive check, and this has direct effects on medical treatment and the hospital administration. The authors intend to arouse the necessity of preventive check of PACS by analyzing trouble management processes for the last 1 year.

  • The high pressure hydrogen gas refueling system is required for fuel cell vehicle. In this paper, a commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code, FLUENT is adopted to investigate the gas flow characteristics inside the check valve for various refueling and tank pressures. The results showed that the choking phenomena can occur for certain refueling pressures, therefore refueling processes should be divided by multiple stages. And a design method to prevent the seal departure problem which reported in CNG usages is required.

  • Recently, the generation of panoramic images and high quality mosaic images from video sequences has been attempted by a variety of investigations. Among a matter of investigation, in this paper, left and right stereo mosaic image generation utilizing airborne-video sequence images is focused upon. The stereo mosaic image is generated by creating left and right mosaic image which is generated by front and rear slit having different viewing angle in consecutive video frame images. The generation of stereo mosaic image proposed in this paper consists of several processes: camera parameter estimation for each video frame image, rectification, slicing, motion parallax elimination and image mosaicking. However it is necessary to check the feasibility on generating stereo mosaic image as explained processes. Therefore, in this paper, we performed the feasibility test on generating stereo mosaic image using video frame images. In doing so, anaglyphic image for stereo mosaic images is generated and tested for feasibility check.

  • This paper proposes an unstructured tetrahedral meshing algorithm for CAD models in the IGES format. The work presented is based on the advancing front method, which was proposed by the third author. Originally, the advancing front method uses three basic operators, namely, trimming, wedging, and digging. In this research, in addition to the basic operators, three new operators splitting, local finishing, and octahedral-are added to stabilize the meshing process. In addition, improved check processes are applied to obtain better-shaped elements. The algorithm is demonstrated and evaluated by four examples.

  • There are big differences in six sigma projects between manufacturing processes and transactional/service processes. This paper analyzed the differences between the two areas by examining 18 six sigma case studies in Korean companies. To characterize six sigma case studies, step-by-step questions and check criteria were developed based on 12 step DMAIC methodology. On the basis of those characterized data, the differences between two areas were analyzed. Significant differences were found in the number of CTQs, validation of measurement systems, methods to determine improvement objectives, the methods to elicit improvement plans and types of control systems. The most significant difference was that statistical tools were widely used in manufacturing processes, but qualitative tools were used in transactional/service processes during improvement phase.

  • In this paper, we study the asymptotic behavior of the residual empirical process from diffusion processes. For this task, adopting the discrete sampling scheme as in Florens-Zmirou [9], we calculate the residuals and construct the residual empirical process. It is shown that the residual empirical process converges weakly to a Brownian bridge.

  • Background: The purpose of this study was to identify factors inhibiting access of people with disability to health check-ups as well as identify pertinent solutions for improvement. Methods: Twenty-three people with disability older than the age of 19 who took respective health check-ups within the last 3 years were selected as participants. For the data collection, the 1:1 intensive interview was used. The data were analyzed by the grounded theory by Corbin and Strauss. Results: The results comprised nine categories, 23 subcategories, and 179 concepts. The central phenomenon was 'failure to obtain check-ups.' Causal conditions were observed as a 'lack of communication method,' 'physical difficulties,' and 'staff unfamiliar with people with disability,' Interventional conditions comprised 'physical accessibility,' 'staffs' competency,' and 'assistant manpower.' The active strategy was included 'to investigate the professional medical institution,' 'to find the medical institution of convenient traffic accessibility,' 'to overcome communication difficulties through equipment,' and 'to overcome linguistic barriers through sufficient communication.' Whereas, 'utilization of ancillary equipment,' 'the education of staffs on people with disability,' 'universal design manual,' and 'customized check-ups' were included in the passive strategy. Such processes arose in the contextual conditions of 'lack of expectations for daily lives' and 'lack of government support.' As a consequence, the subjects participated experienced the 'disadvantages,' 'discrimination,' and 'reduced reliability of the health check-ups.' Conclusion: The subjects who participated in this study emphasized 'staffs familiar with people with disability' and 'systems customized for people with disability' are mandatory to secure complete health check-ups for people with disability.
