  • The electric vehicle business is important because it can reduce 30% of the fine dust generated in the metropolitan area and it can solve the air pollution problem by replacing automobile exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine with eco-friendly electric cars. For the construction of the electric charging station infrastructure, which is the core part of the electric car business, we focus to select the optimal location of the electric car charging station in Seoul. The goal of this paper is to utilize and analyze the traffic statistics of T-Map navigation users data and Seoul Metropolitan Transportation Policy Department to deploy the electric cars charging station with optimal location to increase the efficiency. In this paper, the proposed algorithm is composed of two parts of electric charging station selection. First, we analyze real traffic statistics and area. Second, we utilize T-Map navigation data distribution. To select optimal electric charging station location, we apply these two algorithms.

  • The transition to electric vehicles is a crucial step toward achieving carbon neutrality in the transportation sector. Adequate charging infrastructure at residential locations is essential. In South Korea, the predominant form of housing is multifamily dwellings, necessitating the provision of public charging stations for numerous residents. Although the government mandates the availability of charging facilities and designated parking areas for electric vehicles, it bases the supply of charging stations solely on the number of parking spaces. Slow chargers, mainly 3.5kW charging outlets and 7kW slow chargers, are commonly used. While the former is advantageous for installation and use, its slower charging speed necessitates the coexistence of both types of chargers. This study presents an optimization model that allocates chargers capable of meeting charging demands based on daily driving distances. Furthermore, using the metaheuristic algorithm Tabu Search, this model satisfies the optimization requirements and minimizes the costs associated with charger supply and usage. To conduct a case study, data from personal travel surveys were used to estimate the driving distances, and a hypothetical charging scenario and environment were set up to determine the optimal supply of 22 units of 3.5kW charging outlets for the charging demands of 100 BEVs.

  • Three phase PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) converter of the small-scale wind power system is able to charge battery under the rated wind speed regions. However, it is impossible to control output power of converter at the over win speed region because back-EMF(Electro Motive Force) of PMSG(Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator) is higher than the battery terminal voltage of PMSG is reduced. However, the cut-off wind speed exists although battery charging algorithm is implemented by flux weakening control method. Therefore, this paper performs analysis of other factors which affects limitation wind speed. The validity of the analysis are verified through simulation.

  • Recent environmental pollutions have intensified the need to develop zero emission vehicles. The most effect method of such solutions is EV. EV is high energy efficiency, easy to maintain, repair and is possible to make high performance control. However, because energy density of batteries is constrained and the distance covered one charge is short range. Also because EV has disadvantage of poor accelation ability, development of high performance battery is required for large scale use of EV. EV charger analogous to gas apparatus must also be developed immediately. Charger is discriminate between on-vehicle type and off-vehicle type. As off-vehicle type is able to charge fast and safe, inductive charging is considered. This paper aims to develope off-vehicle inductive charging system. Therefore, it achieved power factor correction converter, high frequency DC/AC inverter control algorithm development which gives proof validity through simulation and formulated the basic concept of high frequency transformer design for inductive charging.

  • In this paper, a control algorithm for active power filter (APF), which compensates for the harmonics and power factor, boosting the DC-link voltage is proposed. The proposed scheme employs a pulse-width-modulation (PWM) voltage-source inverter. A simple algorithm to detect the load current harmonics is also proposed. The APF and charging circuit are implemented in one inverter system. Finally, the validity of the proposed scheme is investigated with simulated and experimental results for a prototype APF system rated at 3kVA.

  • As electric power systems have been moving from vertically integrated utilities to a deregulated environment, the charging of reactive power management is a new challenging theme for market operators. This paper proposes a new methodology to compute the costs of providing reactive power management service in a competitive electrical power market. The proposed formulation, which is basically different from those shown in the literature, consists of two parts. One is to recover investment capital costs of reactive power supporting equipment based on a reactive power flow tracing algorithm. The other is to recover operational costs based on variable spot prices using the optimal power flow algorithm. The charging shapes resulted from the proposed approach exhibit a quite good meaning viewed from a practical sense. It turns out that reactive power charges are mostly due to recovery of capital costs and slightly due to recovery of operational costs. The method can be useful in providing additional insight into power system operation and can be used to determine tariffs of a reactive power management service.

  • Lack of sufficient battery capacity is one of the most important challenges impeding the development of wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Recent innovations in the areas of wireless energy transfer and rechargeable batteries have made it possible to advance WSNs. Therefore, in this article, we propose an energy-efficient charging of sensors in a WSN scenario. First, we have formulated the problem as an integer linear programming (ILP) problem. Then a utility function-based greedy algorithm named UGreedy/UF1 is proposed for solving the problem. Finally, the performance of UGreedy/UF1 is analyzed along with other baseline algorithms: UGreedy/UF2, 2-opt TSP, and Greedy TSP. The simulation results show that UGreedy/UF1 performs better than others both in terms of the deadline missing ratio of sensors and the total energy consumption of UAVs.

  • Recently, lots of researches are carried out to develop hybrid power generation system for ocean facility. Normally, the stand-alone type power system is used in the ocean facility, which is influenced by weather condition. To improve the efficiency, a various charging strategy with switching algorithm has been studied. In this paper, the power system using multi-level type is proposed. The simulation results based on actual data of photovoltaic and wave hybrid power system are presented. The results show that the rate of charging time is increased 5~11% and 7~47% respectively to compare the conventional technique.
