직류 코로나 하전된 강유전체구 층의 연면방전특성 (Surface Discharge Characteristics of a DC Corona Charged Ferroelectric Pellet Barrier)

  • Surface corona discharge characteristics of a dc corona charged ferroelectric pellet barrier have been investigated experimentally. Electric charges stored on the surfaces of the ferroelectric pellets by a dc corona discharge provide partial electric fields on the surfaces of the ferroelectric pellets, which could generate surface corona discharges on the ferroelectric pellets. This system utilizes both the surface discharges on the ferroelectric pellet barrier and the corona discharge between corona tip and mesh electrode. Positive and negative dc voltages were applied to the tip to generate partial discharges, and corona currents were estimated to investigate the buildup charge on ferroelectric pellets as a function of the applied time and the charge relaxation time constants of ferroelectric pellets. As a result, in the case of the negative corona discharge with the ferroelectric pellet barrier, the mean corona current and ozone generation increase greatly, and the surface discharges on the ferroelectric pellets can be fenerated efficiently. It is also found that, charge relaxation time, dielectric constants offerroelectric pellets, polarity of applied voltage and applied time affected to the surface discharges among the ferroelectric pellets.

고속 방전·충전 스위칭 전원차단회로 설계 제작 및 특성분석 (Implementation of crowbar circuit for high-speed discharge·charge switching and its characteristic analysis)

  • 본 논문에서는 기존 전원차단회로의 공급전원 차단 복귀 시간 지연 문제를 해결하기 위하여 고속 방전 충전 스위칭 기능을 갖는 새로운 전원차단회로를 제안하였다. 제안된 전원차단회로는 공급전원 고속 차단 후 복귀(충전) 속도를 증가시키도록 설계함으로써 전자시스템의 방사선 노출 시간과 펄스 방사선이 지나간 후 정상동작하기 위한 시간을 줄였다. 하드웨어를 구현하기 전 방전 충전 시간의 시뮬레이션은 Cadence 사의 pspice tool을 이용하여 진행하였으며 소자레벨에서 DUT(Device Under Test) 보드를 제작하였다. 전원차단회로의 비교 측정은 24V용 인공위성 전자소자를 대상으로 수행되었다. 그 결과, 제안된 회로는 기존 회로에 비하여 방전속도 96.8%, 복귀속도 27.3% 향상으로 고속 기능이 구현됨을 확인하였다.

A New Type of Nonthermal Plasma Reactor

  • A new type of nonthermal plasma reactor utilizing ferroelectric pellets is proposed to generate nonthermal plasma efficiently, which is used for simultaneous control of various pollutant gases. Electric charges stored on ferroelctric pellets by corona discharge between a corona tip and a mesh electrode provide partial electrical discharges among ferroelectric pellets. These partial electrical discharges can enhance partial discharges around the surface of ferroelectric pellets. This method utilizes wide reacting area of ferroelectric pellets and partial discharge. Positive and negative dc voltage are applied to the corona tip to generate partial discharges, and corona currents are estimated to investigate charge storage on ferroelectric pellets as function of time and charge relaxation time constants of ferroelectric pellects. As a result, charge relaxationtime, dielectric constants of ferroelectric pellets, polarity of applied voltage and applied time influence partial discharges among ferroelectric pellect.

  • In this paper two quick boosting charge pump circuits for high-speed EEPROM memory are proposed. In order to improve initial charge transfer efficiency, one uses weighted capacitors where each stage has different clock coupling capacitance, and the other uses a multi-path structure at the first stage. SPICE simulation results show that these charge pumps have improve drising-time characteristics, but their $V_{DD}$ mean currents are increased a little compared with conventioanl charge pumps. The rising time upt o 15V of the proposed charge pumps is 3 times faster than that of dickson's pump at the cost of 1.5 tiems more $V_{DD}$ mean current.rrent.

실리카 유리의 전기이완 특성과 비선형적 전기전도도 (Electrical Relaxation in Silica Glasses and Nonlinearity in Electrical Conductivity)

  • The cause of optical nonlinearity induced in thermally poled silica glass is believed to be the space charge polarization. Since the second order optical nonlinearity (electro-optic effect) can be used in optical switches the optical nonlinearity in silica glass has drawn a large attention. Space charge polarization occurs when an ionic conducting material is subjected to dc electric field by the blocking electrode. Thermal poling performed to induce the optical nonlinearity in silica glass is basically identical to the process generating space charge polarization. As a first step to understand the mechanism of space charge polarization in silica glass hence the induced optical nonlinearity the absorption currents as functions of time were measured for various types of silica glasses and analyzed by the theory of space charge polarization. It was found that the electrical relaxation exhibited a step by the space charge polarization in the relatively long time range and dielectric loss peak showed a maximum at a specific temperature which is depending on type of silica glass. It was turned out that this relaxation might be a cause of nonlinearity in electrical conductivity of silica glass.

  • The electro-magnetic vector equation(F=$qv{\times}B$ ; F:force, B:magnetic field, q:plus charge, v :velocity of the charge) explains well about the rotations of electron and positron under the magnetic field[Ref.1], as in Fig.1(a). Because the electro-magnetic wave is also a motion of the alternating charge and magnetic field as in Fig.2, the force vector has all the time inwarding direction and then the wave has a rotating motion. The positron in the proton has constant charge and alternating one at the same time[Ref.2] and then the alternating charge makes the absorbing force with the alternating charge of the rotating wave ($\pi$-ray) around the nucleus[Ref.2]. 상태공간평균에 의한 리튬전지 충방전 시스템의 해석 (State Space Averaging Based Analysis of the Lithium Battery Charge/Discharge System)

  • 리튬전지는 생산과정에서의 핵심인 화성공정에 의해 수명 및 성능이 크게 좌우되며, 화성공정을 처리하기 위해서 충방전 시스템이 필수적으로 요구되고 있다. 리튬전지 충방전 시스템의 특성을 해석하기 위해 일반적인 방법으로 시뮬레이션하면 충전동작과 방전동작에 엄청난 시간이 소요되고 메모리 용량의 한계로 인해 범용 PC로는 시뮬레이션이 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 리튬전지를 저항-커패시터 직렬회로로 모델링하였으며 상태공간평균의 개념을 적용하여 리튬전지 충방전 시스템을 해석하고 시뮬레이션하였다. Simplorer를 사용하여 시뮬레이션을 수행한 결과 시뮬레이션 시간이 단축되어 범용 PC로도 3시간 내에 시뮬레이션이 가능해졌으며, 리튬전지 충방전 시스템의 정전류/정전압 충전 특성 및 정전류 방전 특성과 충방전 소요시간을 예측할 수 있었다. 또한 충방전 시스템을 구성하고 실험하여 리튬전지를 저항-커패시터 직렬회로로 등가화한 모델링의 타당성과 상태공간평균의 개념을 사용하여 해석하고 시뮬레이션한 방법의 유용성을 입증하였다.

ARIMA 모델을 이용한 항공운임예측에 관한 연구 (A Study of Air Freight Forecasting Using the ARIMA Model)

  • Purpose - In recent years, many firms have attempted various approaches to cope with the continual increase of aviation transportation. The previous research into freight charge forecasting models has focused on regression analyses using a few influence factors to calculate the future price. However, these approaches have limitations that make them difficult to apply into practice: They cannot respond promptly to small price changes and their predictive power is relatively low. Therefore, the current study proposes a freight charge-forecasting model using time series data instead a regression approach. The main purposes of this study can thus be summarized as follows. First, a proper model for freight charge using the autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) model, which is mainly used for time series forecast, is presented. Second, a modified ARIMA model for freight charge prediction and the standard process of determining freight charge based on the model is presented. Third, a straightforward freight charge prediction model for practitioners to apply and utilize is presented. Research design, data, and methodology - To develop a new freight charge model, this study proposes the ARIMAC(p,q) model, which applies time difference constantly to address the correlation coefficient (autocorrelation function and partial autocorrelation function) problem as it appears in the ARIMA(p,q) model and materialize an error-adjusted ARIMAC(p,q). Cargo Account Settlement Systems (CASS) data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) are used to predict the air freight charge. In the modeling, freight charge data for 72 months (from January 2006 to December 2011) are used for the training set, and a prediction interval of 23 months (from January 2012 to November 2013) is used for the validation set. The freight charge from November 2012 to November 2013 is predicted for three routes - Los Angeles, Miami, and Vienna - and the accuracy of the prediction interval is analyzed using mean absolute percentage error (MAPE). Results - The result of the proposed model shows better accuracy of prediction because the MAPE of the error-adjusted ARIMAC model is 10% and the MAPE of ARIMAC is 11.2% for the L.A. route. For the Miami route, the proposed model also shows slightly better accuracy in that the MAPE of the error-adjusted ARIMAC model is 3.5%, while that of ARIMAC is 3.7%. However, for the Vienna route, the accuracy of ARIMAC is better because the MAPE of ARIMAC is 14.5% and the MAPE of the error-adjusted ARIMAC model is 15.7%. Conclusions - The accuracy of the error-adjusted ARIMAC model appears better when a route's freight charge variance is large, and the accuracy of ARIMA is better when the freight charge variance is small or has a trend of ascent or descent. From the results, it can be concluded that the ARIMAC model, which uses moving averages, has less predictive power for small price changes, while the error-adjusted ARIMAC model, which uses error correction, has the advantage of being able to respond to price changes quickly.

A Lock-Time Improvement for an X-Band Frequency Synthesizer Using an Active Fast-Lock Loop Filter

  • In phase-locked frequency synthesizers, a fast-lock technique is frequently employed to overcome the trade-off between a lock-time and a spurious response. The function of fast-lock in a conventional PLL (Phased Lock Loop) IC (Integrated Circuit) is limited by a factor of 16, which is usually implemented by a scaling of charge pumper, and consequently a lock time improvement of a factor of 4 is possible using the conventional PLL IC. In this paper, we propose a novel external active fast-lock loop filter. The proposed loop filter provides, conceptually, an unlimited scaling of charge pumper current, and can overcome conventional trade-off between lock-time and spur suppression. To demonstrate the validity of our proposed loop-filter, we fabricated an X-band frequency synthesizer using the proposed loop filter. The loop filter in the synthesizer is designed to have a loop bandwidth of 100 kHz in the fast-lock mode and a loop bandwidth of 5 kHz in the normal mode, which corresponds to a charge pumper current change ratio of 400. The X-band synthesizer shows successful performance of a lock-time of below 10 ${\mu}sec$ and reference spur suppression below -64 dBc.

THE OPEN-CIRCUIT VOLTAGE STATE ESTIMATION OF THE BATTERY

  • Currently, batteries use commonly as energy sources for mobile electric devices. Due to the high density of energy, the energy storage state of a battery is very important information. To know the battery's energy storage state, it is necessary to find out the open state voltage of the battery. The open state voltage calculates with a mathematical model, but the computation of the real time state is complicated and requires many calculations. Therefore, the state observer designs to estimate in real time the battery open-circuit voltage as disturbance including model error. Using the estimated open voltage and applying it to the state estimation algorithm, we can estimate the charge. In this study, we first estimate the open-circuit voltage and design an estimation algorithm for estimating the state of battery charge. This includes errors in the system model and has a robust characteristic to noise. It is possible to increase the precision of the charge state estimation.
