  • To design the effective usage of electric double layer capacitors (EDLCs) used for a storage device of dye sensitized solar cell(DSC) energy, we first investigated the accumulation state of electrical charges and the charge behavior in the EDLCs. Based on the results. the voltage characteristics of EDLCs connected to DSC energy were evaluated. The results showed that the charge accumulation region concentrated on central part of the carbonaceous electrode in EDLCs and the required times for charging and discharging were almost the same.

  • Fullerenes, $C_{60}$ and $C_{70}$, display interesting physicochemical properties in solutions, especially due to their unique chemical structures and their good electron accepting abilities. Solubility of fullerenes in different organic solvents and their unusual solvatochromic behavior, the ability of the fullerenes to form aggregates in solutions, and their electron transfer and charge transfer interactions with variety of electron donors, are the subjects of extensive research activities for more than one decade. Many research groups including ours have contributed substantially in the understanding of the solvatochromism, aggregation behavior, and the photoinduced electron transfer and charge transfer chemistry of fullerenes, in condensed phase. Present article is aimed to summarize the important results reported on the above aspects of fullerenes, subsequent to the earlier report from our group (D.K. Palit and J.P. Mittal, Full. 대전방지처리된 합성섬유의 대전성에 관한 연구 (Anti-static behavior of Synthetic fabrics treated by anti-static agents)

  • In this study, electrostatic behavior of polyester and nylon fabric treated with anti-static agents were investigated. The effects of the concentration of the agents and curing conditions on the electrostatic charge of the fabrics were studied. And washfastness, lightfastness and physicalproperties of the treated fabrics were also investigated. The results were as follows: 1) Polyethylene glycol alkylester was more effective in antistatic behavior than polyethylene laurylphosphate, and polyester is more effective in anti-static behavior than nylon. 2) Concentration of anti-static agents were suitable in concentration of $4\%$. 3) Glyoxal resin was more effective in anti-static behavior than melamine resin, and it was also good in the retaing anti-static behavior after treatments of lightfastness and washfastness. 4) As the condition of curing treatment, $190^{\circ}C$, 1min. for glyoxal resin and $130^{\circ}C$, 4min. for melamine resin is appropriate. 5) In comparison of anti-static behavior according to treating conditions, the simultaneous treatment was more effective than any other treatments. 6) Change of electrostatic charge of anti-static nylon cloths after treatments of lightfastness and washfastness increased greatly in above 10 laundering time and 20 fade-O-meter time. 7) In physical properties according to concentration of treating agents. decrease of physical properties scarcely appeared in concentration of treating agents $4\~5\%$.

  • In this paper, a charge controlled asymmetrical half-bridge (ASHB) dc-to-dc converter is presented. For ASHB do-to-dc converter, the peak current-mode control was found to be problematic primarily due to the oscillatory behavior of the current feedback signal. To resolve this problem, a charge control method is applied to the ASHB do-to-dc converter. A 50W prototype ASHB dc-to-dc converter was built, and successfully tested.

Space Charge Behavior of Oil-Impregnated Paper Insulation Aging at AC-DC Combined Voltages

  • The space charge behaviors of oil-paper insulation affect the stability and security of oil-filled converter transformers of traditional and new energies. This paper presents the results of the electrical aging of oil-impregnated paper under AC-DC combined voltages by the pulsed electro-acoustic technique. Data mining and feature extractions were performed on the influence of electrical aging on charge dynamics based on the experiment results in the first stage. Characteristic parameters such as total charge injection and apparent charge mobility were calculated. The influences of electrical aging on the trap energy distribution of an oil-paper insulation system were analyzed and discussed. Longer electrical aging time would increase the depth and energy density of charge trap, which decelerates the apparent charge mobility and increases the probability of hot electron formation. This mechanism would accelerate damage to the cellulose and the formation of discharge channels, enhance the acceleration of the electric field distortion, and shorten insulation lifetime under AC-DC combined voltages.

Electrokinetic flow and electroviscous effect in a charged slit-like microfluidic channel with nonlinear Poisson-Boltzmann field

  • In cases of the microfluidic channel, the electrokinetic influence on the transport behavior can be found. The externally applied body force originated from the electrostatic interaction between the nonlinear Poisson-Boltzmann field and the flow-induced electrical field is applied in the equation of motion. The electrostatic potential profile is computed a priori by applying the finite difference scheme, and an analytical solution to the Navier-Stokes equation of motion for slit-like microchannel is obtained via the Green's function. An explicit analytical expression for the induced electrokinetic potential is derived as functions of relevant physicochemical parameters. The effects of the electric double layer, the zeta potential of the solid surface, and the charge condition of the channel wall on the velocity profile as well as the electroviscous behavior are examined. With increases in either electric double layer or zeta potential, the average fluid velocity in the channel of same charge is entirely reduced, whereas the electroviscous effect becomes stronger. We observed an opposite behavior in the channel of opposite charge, where the attractive electrostatic interactions are presented.

Li-ion 이차전지의 충방전 시 발열 및 충방전 특성의 CFD 모델링 (A CFD Modeling of Heat Generation and Charge-Discharge Behavior of a Li-ion Secondary Battery)

  • 본 연구에서는 리튬이온전지의 충방전시 발생하는 발열특성을 CFD 모델링하고, 발열에 따른 충방전 특성을 해석하였다. 리튬이온전지는 직교 파우치형 구조로서 두께방향으로의 1차원계로 설정하여, 전류밀도 방정식, 열 및 물질전달 지배방정식을 도입하였다. Cut-off 전압이 3 V에서 충방전 전류밀도가 1C($17.5A/m^2$), 3C($52.5A/m^2$) 와 5C($87.5A/m^2$)에 대하여, 298K의 등온계와 충방전 전류밀도 별 발열계로 각각 설정하였다. 등온계와 발열계에서 모두 충방전 전류밀도가 높을수록 전지의 용량은 감소되는 것으로 나타났다. 등온계에 비하여 발열계에서 충방전 시간이 증가하였으며, 이는 발열에 의한 온도의 증가로 인해 전극의 평형전위가 감소하고, 리튬이온의 확산계수가 증가하기 때문인 것으로 고려된다. 또한, 리튬이온전지의 충전과 방전에 의한 열 발생 영향을 제어하기 위한 냉각효과를 분석하였다.

두 개의 Frequency Detector를 가지고 있는 Charge Pump PLL 의 최적설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Optimum Design of Charge Pump PLL with Dual Phase Frequency Detectors)

  • In this paper, we introduce a charge pump phase-locked loop (PLL) architecture which employs a precharge phase frequency detector (PFD) and a sequential PFD to achieve a high frequency operation and a fast acquisition. Operation frequency is increased by using the precharge PFD when the phase difference is within $-{\pi}{\sim}{\pi}$ and acquisition time is shortened by using the sequential PFD and the increased charge pump current when the phase difference is larger than ${\pm}{\pi}$. So error detection range of the proposed PLL structure is not limited to $-{\pi}{\sim}{\pi}$ and a high frequency operation and a higher speed lock-up time can be achieved. The proposed PLL was designed using 1.5 ${\mu}m$ CMOS technology with 5V supply voltage to verify the lock in process. The proposed PLL shows successful acquisition for 200 MHz input frequency. On the other hand, the conventional PLL with the sequential PFD cannot operate at up to 160MHz. Moreover, the lock-up time is drastically reduced from 7.0 ${\mu}s\;to\;2.0\;{\mu}s$ only if the loop bandwidth to input frequency ratio is regulated by the divide-by-4 counter during the acquisition process. By virtue of this dual PFDs, the proposed PLL structure can improve the trade-off between acquisition behavior and locked behavior.

The Surface Modification of Electrode with Solid Electrolyte Interphase for Hybrid Supercapacitor

  • A hybrid supercapacitor (HS) is an energy storage device used to enhance the low weight energy density (Wh/kg) of a supercapacitor. On the other hand, a sudden decrease in capacity has been pointed out as a reliability problem after many charge/discharge cycles. The reliability problem of a HS affects the early aging process. In this study, the capacity performance of a HS was observed after charge/discharge. For detailed analysis of the initial charge/discharge cycles, the charge and discharge curve was measured at a low current density. In addition, a solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) layer was confirmed after the charge/discharge. A HC composed of a lithium titanate (LTO) anode and active carbon cathode was used. The charge/discharge efficiency of the first cycle was lower than the late cycles and the charge/discharge rate was also lower. This behavior was induced by SEI layer formation, which consumed Li ions in the LTO lattice. The formation of a SEI layer after the charge/discharge cycles was confirmed using a range of analysis techniques.

  • 본 논문에서는 위상획득과정과 동기과정에서의 trade-off를 향상시킨 듀얼 위상 주파수 검출기를 이용하여 차지펌프 PLL을 설계하였다. 제안된 듀얼 위상 주파수 검출기는 상승에지에서 동작하는 POSITIVE 위상 주파수 검출기와 하강에지에서 동작하는 NEGATIVE 위상 주파수 검출기로 구성되어있다. 또한 PLL에 사용된 차지펌프는 전류뺄셈회로를 이용하여 전류 부정합을 감소시켰으며, reference spurs와 전압제어발진기의 변동을 감소시킬수 있도록 구현하였다. 제안된 PLL의 동작특성은 0.25${\mu}m$ CMOS 공종 파라미터를 이용하여 SPICE 시뮬레이션을 통해 검증되었다.
