The AC impedance of $LiM_{y}Mn_{2-y}O_{4}$cathode material by charge and discharge temperature (충방전 온도에 따른 $LiM_{y}Mn_{2-y}O_{4}$정극 활물질의 임피던스 특성 분석)

  • AC impedance of LiM $n_2$ $O_4$ and LiM $g_{0.1}$M $n_{1.9}$ $O_4$ samples have been studied at various temperature with charge-discharge test. AC impedance of LiM $n_2$ $O_4$ measured at -2$0^{\circ}C$, room temperature and 5$0^{\circ}C$ revealed that initial impedance before charge-discharge test was gradually decreased and become small by becoming law temperature. It indicates that the Li ion diffusion and the transfer resistance of the cathode are related to the temperature of cycling. Impedance at high temperature was suddenly increased because Mn dissolution and decomposition of electrolyte had been increased during cycling, compared to impedance at low temperature. Therefore, charge-discharge capacity was suddenly decreased at high but was slowly at low. In LiM $g_{0.1}$M $n_{1.9}$ $O_4$, impedance and capacity were stability at room temperature than there at 5$0^{\circ}C$, too. Initial impedance at 5$0^{\circ}C$ before charge-discharge test was small and impedance was suddenly increased during cycling than that at room temperature.ure.ure.

  • In this paper, we proposed a novel crowbar circuit for high-speed discharge charge switching to solve discharge charge-time delay of supply voltage in the conventional crowbar circuit. The proposed circuit is designed to increase the charge-speed after high-speed discharge of supply voltage, thereby reducing the time exposed to radiation damage and, the normal operation time of electronic system after passing the pulse radiation. The simulation of the discharge charge-times before the implement of the hardware is conducted using Cadence's pspice tool, and DUT (Device Under Test) board is fabricated in the device level. The comparison measurement of the crowbar circuits is performed on the satellite-electronic device for 24V. As the result, we confirmed the high-speed function of the proposed circuit by improvement of the discharge-speed 96.8% and the charge-speed 27.3% as compared with the conventional circuit.

  • Si-C materials were synthesized by the heating the mixture of silicon and polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF). The electrochemical properties of the Si-C materials as the high capacitive anode materials of lithium secondary batteries were evaluated by the galvanostatic charge-discharge test through 2032 type $Si-C{\mid}Li$ coin cells. Charge-discharge tests were performed at C/10 hour rate(C = 372 mAh/g). Initial discharge and charge capacities of $Si-C{\mid}Li$ cell using a Si-C material derived from PVDF(20wt.%) were found to be 1,830 and 526 mAh/g respectively. The initial discharge-charge characteristics of the developed Si-C electrode were analyzed by the electrochemical galvanostatic test adopting the capacity limited charge cut-off condition(GISOC). The range of reversible specific capacity IIE(intercalation efficiency at initial discharge-charge) and IICs(surface irreversible specific capacity) were 216 mAh/g, 68 % and 31 mAh/g, respectively.

  • One important test for formation and grading of the lithium-ion battery is to confirm the performance of the battery while discharging battery down to zero volts. In this paper, a novel charge/discharge converter with zero-voltage discharge function is proposed. The proposed converter is able to discharge the battery until the voltage reaches to zero volts. The phase-shifted full bridge method is used to charge the battery and the current-fed push-pull method with bidirectional switches is used for the discharge. The ZVS turn-on is achieved in the charge operation and the ZVS turn-off in the discharge operation. The performance of the system is verified by the experiments using lithium-ion batteries.

  • With the increase of consumption of new renewable energy, the use of Electric Double Layer Capacitor(EDLC) is being gradually widened as the next generation energy storage device. In order to expand the market of EDLC which is recently receiving a lot of attraction as a new promising area, development of a charge/discharge cycle tester to measure and test performance, is essential. Therefore, this research designed a circuit to measure capacity and internal resistance and a circuit to measure voltage maintenance properties, based on EDLC's basic charging/discharging properties so it is able to measure the state of charge and discharge at high speed. When evaluating performance characteristics, the 5[V]/100[A] prototype-EDLC charge/discharge testing system developed for this research showed ${\pm}0.1$[%] of accuracy of voltage and current measurement. It was also proved that the developed charge/discharge testing system for EDLC can be applied to the actual industry, when testing the entire system using a program produced for data monitoring and acquisition.

  • These days, sales of battery electric vehicles have been rapidly increasing due to the strict CO2 regulations. However, since it take too long to measure the energy economy of electric vehicles, it has been required to improve the procedure of energy economy measurement. In order to improve this problem, the present study analyzed the battery charge/discharge pattern according to the changes in battery SOC (state of charge). In general, the energy economy test is started with a battery SOC charged to 100 %. However, it was identified that when the battery is fully charged, it can actually be charged over the 100 % (e.g., 100.5 %). This can induce errors in the energy economy measurement. Therefore, the present study recommend to start the test at SOC 99.9 %. The regenerative braking was partly restricted for the SOC over 90 %. This made it difficult to estimate the overall energy economy of the electric vehicle. However, it was identified that there was no change in the battery charge/discharge characteristics under the SOC 90 %. Therefore, the energy economy test can be shortened by predicting the overall energy economy through a short mileage test.

Charge/discharge characteristics by heat treatment condition of cathode active material LiMn$_2$O$_4$ for Li rechargeable batteries (리튬 2차 전지용 정극 활물질 LiMn$_2$O$_4$의 열처리 조건에 따른 충방전 특성)

  • We prepared LiMn$_2$O$_4$ by reacting stoichiometric mixture of LiOH.$H_2O$ and MnO$_2$ (mole ratio 1 : 1) and heating at 80$0^{\circ}C$ for 24h, 36h, 48h, 60h and 70h. We obtained through X-ray diffraction that lattice parameter varied as function of heat treatment time. heated cathode active materials at 80$0^{\circ}C$ for 36h, (111)/(311) peak ratio was 0.37. It expected good charge/discharge characteristics. When (111)/(311) peak ratio was 0.37, it will be that crystal structure is farmed very well. In the result of charge/discharge test When heated at 80$0^{\circ}C$ for 36h, charge/discharge characteristic of LiMn$_2$O$_4$is the most property. It agree with our expectation.

  • This paper proposes a study on the configuration of balancing of plant(BOP) and implementation of battery management system(BMS) functions for vanadium redox flow battery(VRFB) and propose a method consists of sensor and required design specifications BOP system configuration. And it proposes an method of the functions implementation and control algorithm of the BMS for flow battery. Functions of BMS include temperature control, the charge and discharge control, flow control, level control, state of charge(SOC) estimation and a battery protection through the sensor signal of BOP. Functions of BMS is implemented by the sensor signal, so it is recognized as a very important factor measurement accuracy of the data. Therefore, measuring a mechanical signal(flow rate, temperature, level) through the BOP test model, and the measuring an electrical signal(cell voltage, stack voltage and stack current) through the VRFB charge-discharge system and analyzes the precision of data in this paper. Also it shows a good charge-discharge test results by the SOC estimation algorithm of VRFB. Proposed BOP configuration and BMS functions implementation can be used as a reference indicator for VRFB system design.

Experiment and Implementation of NiMH Battery Model for Autonomie Environment (Autonomie에 적용 가능한 NiMH 배터리 모델 실험 및 구현)

  • This paper proposes a battery model applicable to Autonomie environment. Also, a various of experiment is implemented for validation. The proposed battery model modifies Randles equivalent circuit and battery parameters are extracted from pulsed current tests. The parameters are two-dimensional function of current and SOC(State of Charge). The battery model is developed in the Matlab/Simulink and is implemented for NiMH Panasonic HHR650D and compared with pulsed current discharge curves. The simulation results validate the accuracy of the proposed model and the model is also tested by adding it on Autonomie for HEV application. Constant current charge/discharge, pulsed current test that can be used to extract battery parameter are performed and test results are used to build up the proposed battery model for Autonomie.
