Assessment of Grid Sensitivity in the FDS Field Model to Simulate the Flame Propagation of an Electric Cable Fire (케이블 화재의 화염전파 해석을 위한 FDS 모델의 격자민감도 평가)

  • The present study has been conducted to examine the effect of grid resolution on the predicted results for electric cable fire using pyrolysis model in FDS(Fire Dynamics Simulator, version 5). The grid independent test for different grid resolutions has been performed for a PE coating cable and the grid resolution is defined by the non-dimensional characteristic length of fire and mean grid size. The calculated maximum heat release rate and mean flame spread rate were almost constant for higher grid resolution of 20${\sim}$25 and the computing time for the grid resolution takes approximately 20hours to solve flame propagation with pyrolysis model. The geometrical simplification of a electric cable dose not greatly affect on the maximum heat release rate and flame spread rate and the rectangular approximation of cable shape gives acceptable result comparing with the round cable with stepwise grid.

Capacitance Characteristics of a-Si:H Thin Film Transistor (비정질실리콘 박막트랜지스터의 캐패시턴스특성)

  • Fabrication and a new analytical expression for the capacitance characteristics of hydrogenerated amorphous silicon thin film transistors(a-Si:H TFTs) is presented and experimentally verified. The results show that the experimental capacitance characteristics are easily measeured. Measured transfer and DC output characteristic curves of a-Si:H TFT are similar to those of the standard MOSFET-IC. The capacitances on bias voltages are in good agreement with experimental data. This capacitance characteristics is suitable for incorporation into a circuit simulator and can be used for computer-aided design of a-Si thin film transistor integrated circuits.

Design of 100-V Super-Junction Trench Power MOSFET with Low On-Resistance

  • Power metal-oxide semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) devices are widely used in power electronics applications, such as brushless direct current motors and power modules. For a conventional power MOSFET device such as trench double-diffused MOSFET (TDMOS), there is a tradeoff relationship between specific on-state resistance and breakdown voltage. To overcome the tradeoff relationship, a super-junction (SJ) trench MOSFET (TMOSFET) structure is studied and designed in this letter. The processing conditions are proposed, and studies on the unit cell are performed for optimal design. The structure modeling and the characteristic analyses for doping density, potential distribution, electric field, width, and depth of trench in an SJ TMOSFET are performed and simulated by using of the SILVACO TCAD 2D device simulator, Atlas. As a result, the specific on-state resistance of 1.2 $m{\Omega}-cm^2$ at the class of 100 V and 100 A is successfully optimized in the SJ TMOSFET, which has the better performance than TDMOS in design parameters.

  • This paper presents the real time digital differential protection scheme for transformer. Inrush and Internal fault conditions are distinguished by the relative magnitudes of fundamental and second harmonic components which are extracted from differential currents. The algorithm is simulated and implemented using a prototype relay which is made up of Intel 80286 CPU and Motorola DSP-56001. The testing data of inrush and Internal fault signals which are sampled at a rate of 12 times a cycle are obtained by EMTP, and tested In real time using simulator which downloaded those data.

  • In three-phase power, when the power is supplied to the single phase load, there is the unbalance of load in the three-phase power. So the scott transformer is used in the power system to supply a single phase load in three-phase power without the unbalance of loads. Especially, the scott transformer is used in the AC substation of electric railroad. Two single phase transformers are combined by T-wiring in the scott transformer. So, two single phase voltage is provided by differing $90^{\circ}$ phase in three-phase power. The selection of related equipment and correction of protective relay are not easy from characteristic of the scott transformer when shunt and ground faults occur. PSIM(Power Electronics Simulator) is optimal simulation software in field of the power electronics and provide the simple and convenient user interface. In this paper, electric model of the scott transformer is suggested and the current of the scott transformer in shunt and ground faults is analyzed. Also, the scott transformer model is demonstrated by using PSIM.

  • 본 논문에서는 3D Ray Tracing 편파특성 예측 시뮬레이터를 개발하고 초고속 옥내 무선환경에서의 원형편파 우수성을 시뮬레이션을 통하여 확인하였다. 제안된 3D Ray Tracing 기법을 이용하여 시뮬레이션 한 결과 기수회의 반사파가 수신기에서 수신되지 않는 원형판파의 특성 때문에 다중경로 페이딩을 현저히 감소시킬 수 있음을 확인하였다. 또한, 옥내 가시거리(LOS) 및 비가시거리(NLOS) 환경에서의 원형편파를 이용한 페이딩 경감효과는 수직 및 수평견파나 편파다이버시티보다 우수함을 알 수 있었고, DS-CDMA 시스템을 이용한 경우에 있어서도 원형편파가 보다 우수한 BER 성능을 나타냄을 확인하였다.

  • In this paper, the performance characteristic of 3 dimensional pulse detector using SMA connector is analyzed. Modeling of 3D pulse detectors is done in a commercial simulator. When a pulse is incident on the detector, we analyze the performance characteristics of the detector and verify the feasibility of the pulse detector.

  • The safe passing maneuver of a large vessel along the designed course through a narrow channel in the flow of strong current is greatly related with her maneuvering characteristics. This paper treats maneuvering characteristic of a large vessel changing her course with the use of her control surface in a narrow channel with strong current. In this paper, the author proposed mathematical models of calculating maneuvering motions of the very large LNG tanker altering course using her control surface and calculated passing tracks of the vessel through the channel and compared the calculated results with those of maneuvering simulations by a desk-top simulator. In general the motions with the calculated values and the simulated motions are well coincided with each other.

  • The powershift transmission have the advantage of easier operation and higher efficiency by using the hydraulic clutch and mechanical power transfer system. It is important to control the engaging pressure and time. The hydraulic control system is used for these controls of the modulator valve, the accumulator, the sump valve and etc. This study have made a simulator for verifying the pressure characteristic of the shuttle powershift transmission and developed the computer simulation model of the hydraulic components and system by using 'AMESim'. As a result, the design parameters which have an effect on the pressure modulation are verified to the spring stiffness of the modulator valve and the volume of the accumulator.

  • This work presents the performance characteristic of digital watthour meter under the harmonics of voltage and current. Each waveform involved is different in magnitude phase, and THD(Total Harmonic Distortion). It is possible to generate harmonics and control those waveforms using RTDS(Real Time Digital Simulator). Tests were performed on a selected sample of three-phase digital watthour meter which is coupled with data acquisition system via RS 485/232 converter. The percentage error rate of the watthour meter is compared for both sinusoidal and nonsinusoidal cases and the results are given.
