  • In the Korean literature, records of systematic gold thread manufacturing such as gold foil(金 箔匠), gold foil bonded with fabrics(付金匠), gold foil bonded with paper materials(金箋紙匠), refining gold(鍊金匠), cutting gold(裁金匠), and making gold thread(絲金匠) can be easily found. We can infer from these literatures that the Korean people used to make gold threads. However, is not existent the gold thread making technique. Thus, a research was done using 67 pieces of gold thread artifacts used in textiles craft of Korea, China and Japan. The purpose of this research was to identify the characteristics of the Korean gold thread by studying the artifacts' form classification, gold foil, glue and the base. First, gold thread is divided into flat gold thread and wrapped gold thread. Wrapped gold thread was made in more various methods such as with a paper on the flat gold thread, metal thread and wrapped gold thread with gold foil on top. Compared to the flat gold thread, wrapped gold thread uses a thread that has a thinner and wider. Through this analysis, even making of the base of the gold threads was different according to the type. Secondly, we looked into the characteristics of materials according to form structure of the gold thread. After analysis of experiment results, we could know that to attach Korean gold thread, glue and the mixture of materials such as Red soil(朱土) was also added. The kinds of the base of gold threads were identified as paper, leather and intestines. Among those materials, for paper, Korea's Dakji, China's Sangpiji(桑皮紙) and Jukji(竹紙) and Japan's Anpiji(雁皮紙) seemed to have all been used, so because of the difference among countries, we can prove that Korea has also produced gold thread. By looking at the research, the base of gold threads and making features hugely vary according to the area.

  • This study provides basic research for developing dress forms of women's wear making. This study compared the average body size of Korean women by investigating the shape, composition and size of 417 dress forms for pattern making, sold at Korean and international online malls. The results showed that Korean brands produced torso-type and torso-crotch-type (94.13%), torso-type was the most dominant type made by Japanese Ki and French St (${\geq}80%$), and all US Al products were whole-body-type. The most common used internal filler of the dress forms was urethane for South Korean companies and paper for Japanese Ki and French St. In most cases, cotton was used for outer materials. Alternatively, linen and rayon were used as outer materials. Al did not indicate the materials used for filler and outer layers. Additionally, the sizing system of dress forms was commonly presented as a Numeric type. In addition to Numeric type, Ki presented body type + usage and Al used character type. When the dress form size for the average bust size of each age group was evaluated, waist measurements were smaller than the corresponding bust measurements. Dress form was presented in the KS interval and was compared with the $mean{\pm}1{\sigma}$ interval of each age group. The majority of the dress forms produced in South Korea were for body shapes in their 20s.

  • This paper purposes to develop an artificial emotion reflecting emotional features contains situations, time, and characteristics, also to develop an interactive character having this artificial emotion with a smart phone. The artificial emotion has an Emotion Module and Drive Module for expressing emotion according to external emotional stimulus and internal drive. The Emotion Module administrates emotions according to time, characteristic, interrelation between different emotions. The Drive Module controls sensitivities of emotion according to changing drives over long time. Also due to defence mechanism for expressing emotions, emotions are processed by two pathways: The first pathway which is affected by the Emotion Module and the Drive Module, and the second pathway that is not to be done. We developed an interactive character having the artificial emotion with this structure using smart phone. And we simulated the artificial emotion what differences there are according to situations, characteristic, and time under same input conditions. The result of this paper has meanings developing the interactive character having the artificial emotion actually, and making it possible to personalize an artificial emotion with expressing the artificial emotion using smart phone.

Other than Gilsangmunja-do(lucky and vulgar illustrated Chinese Character), the most popular of its kind, there are various types of different Munja-do(illustrated Chinese Character) which is more shaped/modeled. Chinese Nianhua style was popular in various parts of China from late Ming Dynasty to early Qing Dynasty, and they were conveyed to neighboring countries after the 17th century, where they adopted unique tradition of each country. Acquiring theme from Chinese characters, these Chinese Nianhua or Munja-do are designed by making images into characters or characters into images. They express the invisible 'Cosmological Taoism' as a visible shape and line. This kind of symbol system, using character as a subject matter, can only be witnessed in the cultural territory of chinese characters by the use of ideograms. It is worth of paying attention today because the uniqueness of each country's style reflects diverse life styles of the contemporary civilization. Specifically, values of Munja-do as a traditional culture may not be underestimated in today's society where culture has become the center of concern. • A feature line is a visually noticeable creased line on outer automotive panels. Feature lines play an important role in creating a good impression of a car. Even though the manufacturing quality of feature lines is important, it is difficult to achieve the designed shape owing to the springback of sheet metal. The current study presents five methods of making samples that will be used in a visual experiment to discover a quality control quantitative manufacturing allowance for feature lines. Measurement and inspection methods for the samples are also presented. The results show that plunge machining is the most accurate way to make the desired shape, and that wrapping the machined surface with sheet film is an appropriate way to emulate the roughness and visual texture of the painted outer panels of a car.

  • The bent wood technique has been used for making the bow, the musical instruments and the wagon wheel, The Winsor chair of England in 1730's was the first Lfurniture product by using this method. This method was spread out by Michael Thonet in Austria after the Industrial Evolution. Early making technique of Winsor chair was relatively easy, but Michael Thonet's bent chair was mass produced by the machine and launched the revolution in the industrial furniture. 20th-Century European furniture designers applied the method of layering and forming plywood to bent chairs, enhanced the function and conformability. The bent chair had a big impact on modern chair design. The bent chair has the formative beauty and convenience from the character of softness and colors of wooden materials and has been developed variously by furniture designers. This study is a new approach to use Dyed-Gathered Wood with various colors and patterns as a material of the bend wood. First, bent wood with the Dyed-Gathered Wood enhances a close texture of wooden material textures instead of coating the surface. Second, flexibility of the bent wood with the Dyed-Gathered Wood enables wood bending techniques. Lastly, the Dyed-Gathered Wood is made with relatively cheap woods, replaces expensive imported woods which cause product price rise. This method enables a material cost saving and a stable supply of material.

  • High-resolution satellite imagery has many benefits, compared to aerial photo in the wide area as well as multi-spectral character. So, it can be used well for constructing GIS data when making digital map. This study analysed the possibilities that road information derived automatically from IKONOS can be used for making ITS system or updating digital map of the urban areas where change frequently and producing satellite image map. In this study, Sobel was applied for road edge dectection after low pass filtering. As the results, it's possible for low pass filtering and high pass filtering to be used as the basic data for ITS construction when extracting edge roads and constructs according to the characteristic of high-resolution satellite imagery.
