A Case Study on Character Package Design of Japan (일본의 캐릭터패키지디자인 사례분석)

  • In this research, I analyze cases of character packages in Japane, extract the concept of design that was loved by consumers and inmates and succeeded in marketing, and aim to establish the logic and principle. In addition, in the future, when introducing and utilizing the character package design in Korea, this research intends to make a guideline for the development of objective validity and empathic package design. After identifying the design concept and finding the principle by targeting package design of five character of Tohato which mixed various media and expanded sales, I want to find out the cause of success. Therefore, I have studied the theory and principles of enterprise and creative in product strategy through case analysis of character design concept and character package design. As a result, a design that leaving the functional side, having a story, making memories, and inducing a sense of closeness was as a successful case of renewal. In the package design, in some cases, package design execution is more important under the theoretical system according to consumer behavior analysis and Promotion of bold design concept of the design for the success of that concept, deviated from the existing principle.

  • With the help of information technology for a film, characteris both the composition of the story and one of the most important elements that lead the story. Character has a close relationship with personality description, and the character's age, background, education, and occupation help decide his or her personality. Charades are important in that by describing a character's psychology using charade techniques, it gives a stronger impression than by describing with merely lines or narration. When a man's thought changes, their behavior changes; when a behavior is repeated, it becomes habit; when a habit is repeated, it becomes nature. The nature is the person's personality, otherwise called character. Therefore, charade techniques describe a character's psychology well, and consequently, it has maintained its importance. Because human nature and in-depth psychological description have a connection with a character's personality development, I would like to discuss the topic through this research. By using Director Shunji Iwai's "April Story" as the text, the effects of charade techniques on a character's personality development in film will be analyzed by seeking and presenting the methodology shown within the work through charade-acting techniques used by the characters for the development of character's personality.

Understanding the Character of University Students: Gender Differences and Pathways of Character Factors (대학생 인성에 대한 이해: 성차와 인성요인의 경로)

  • In order to understand the character of university students, this study confirmed the gender tendency of whether there is a difference in the character of university students according to gender, and if there is a difference, what characteristics there are. It was confirmed through which pathways the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral factors, which are the character factors of university students, affect them. The research results are as follows. First, according to gender, the character of university students was found to be different in all areas of cognition, emotion, and behavior. It was confirmed that female students were higher than male students in all areas. Second, as for the pathways of university student character factors, it was confirmed that the higher the level of the cognitive domain, the higher the level of the affective domain, and the behavioral domain was improved. The results derived from this study can be objective basic data for developing a character education course or program for university students.

Analysis of Trends of Character-Related Research in Science Education (과학교육에서 인성 관련 연구의 동향 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the trends of character-related research in science education by analyzing science education research literatures in South Korea. To this end, literatures on character were extracted from the KCI-listed journals and theses from 1990 to December 2016, and analyzed according to the criteria such as terms relating to character, year of publication, research design and method, and research content. A total of 54 KCI-listed papers and 67 theses were extracted. As a result, 46%, 49%, and 5% of the researches include the terms like character, ethic, and moral in their titles. According to the year of publication, it was found that the number of research papers related to character increased rapidly by more than two times in 2012 as compared to the past years. According to research objects, researches about gifted students were the most common, and when considering the ratio of gifted students to general students, many studies related to character concentrated on gifted students. Starting 2009, research papers on qualitative and hybrid research design begin to advance as compared the number of papers in quantitative research design. With regards to research methods used, seven methods were classified; five of them ranged from 16% to 19% while interpretive research method was 12% and test tool validity study was the lowest at 2%. By extracting 30 representative keywords so as to analyze the contents of character-related researches, we found various implications to character in relation to nature and researches about SSI, etc. As time passed by, the contents of character-related research in science education became more diversified and the number of researches increased. New research contents appeared due to the needs of the times.

An Analysis on Awareness of the Importance of Character Education, Character Development Level and Needs for Character Education in Dental Hygiene (일부 치위생과 학생들의 인성교육에 대한 중요도 인식 및 인성발달 수준, 인성교육의 요구도 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the awareness of dental hygiene students on the importance of character education, their level of character development and needs for that education in an effort to provide information on how to ensure the efficiency of character education. The subjects in this study were 180 selected dental hygiene students who took a course in "college life and character." After a survey was conducted, the collected data were analyzed by a SPSS 23.0. The findings of the study were as follows: First, as for awareness of the importance of character education, they placed the most importance on the virtue of filial piety and attached the least importance to the virtue of courage. Second, regarding awareness of the importance of character education by general characteristics, what type of high school they graduated from and whether they were religious or not made no differences to that, and there were differences according to academic year. Third, as to the current level of character development, they were most excellent in etiquette and caring. Fourth, the characteristics of the subjects made no differences to their current level of character development. Fifth, in regard to correlation between awareness of the importance of character education and the current level of character development, there was a positive correlation between it and every item except faithfulness. Sixth, as a result of analyzing their needs for character education, they gave top priority to moderation, followed by filial piety, faithfulness, responsibility, courage, wisdom, law abiding, justice, etiquette, respect, cooperation and caring. The results of this study should be used as basic data for character education.

Animation Generation for Chinese Character Learning on Mobile Devices (모바일 한자 학습 애니메이션 생성)

  • There are many difficulties to develop a mobile contents due to many constraints on mobile environments. It is difficult to make a good mobile contents with only visual reduction of existing contents on wire Internet. Therefore, it is essential to devise the data representation and to develop the authoring tool to meet the needs of the mobile contents market. We suggest the compact mobile contents to learn Chinese characters and developed its authoring tool. The animation which our system produces is realistic as if someone writes letters with pen or brush. Moreover, our authoring tool makes a user generate a Chinese character animation easily and rapidly although she or he has not many knowledge in computer graphics, mobile programming or Chinese characters. The method to generate the stroke animation is following: We take basic character shape information represented with several contours from TTF(TrueType Font) and get the information for the stroke segmentation and stroke ordering from simple user input. And then, we decompose whole character shape into some strokes by using polygonal approximation technique. Next, the stroke animation for each stroke is automatically generated by the scan line algorithm ordered by the stroke direction. Finally, the ordered scan lines are compressed into some integers by reducing coordinate redundancy As a result, the stroke animation of our system is even smaller than GIF animation. Our method can be extended to rendering and animation of Hangul or general 2D shape based on vector graphics. We have the plan to find the method to automate the stroke segmentation and ordering without user input.

  • In this paper, we propose a large scale entertainment system based on gesture recognition for learning Chinese character contents. The system is consisted of parts that forecast user's posture in two infrared images and part that recognize gestures from continuous poses. And we can divide and acquire in front side pose and side pose about one pose in each IR camera. This entertainment system is immersive in nature and convenient for its gestures based controlling system. Also, it can maximize information transmission because induce immersion and interest using two large size displays and various multimedia elements. The learning Chinese character contents can master Chinese character naturally because give interest to user and supply game and education at the same time. Therefore, it can expect synergy effect that can learn playing to user combining with large entertainment system based on gesture recognition.

  • In this paper, affection of jumping motion factors on visual effects are studied for game character's natural motion realization. First, 3 kinds of games that realize natural motions are selected and 4-types of characters jumping motions are captured from it. Then, the motions are measured using four fundamental principles of jumping as takeoff strength, landing impact, landing elasticity and flexibility, and measured in motion factors as time, distance, angle either. Finally, consistent characteristics of visual effects and motion factors on jumping motion are suggested. The study could be used to basic information for realization of character's natural jumping motion.
