An Analysis of Character Education and Evaluation Components for Selecting Creative Convergent Talents (창의융합인재 선발을 위한 인성교육 및 인성평가 요소 분석)

  • This study aimed to examine character evaluation criteria and components for selecting creative convergent talents in college admissions. In this study, pre-college students' perceptions were surveyed on various issues related to character education and evaluation implemented in K-12 school system. It was found that the character education programs intended to enhance students' care for others, interpersonal skills, and honesty were most actively operated within the secondary educational systems. The results of the study also indicated that the programs for fostering interpersonal skills, care for others, and sincerity were perceived as the most effective programs. Based on the results of the study, we discussed ways to improve the quality of character education programs operated in school curriculum and to improve the credibility of character evaluation in the college admission process.

A Study on Binarization of Handwritten Character Image (필기체 문자 영상의 이진화에 관한 연구)

  • On-line handwritten character recognition be achieved successful results since effectively neural networks divided the letter which is the time ordering of strokes and stroke position. But off-line handwritten character recognition is in difficulty of incomplete preprocessing because has not information of motion or time and has frequently overlap of the letter and many noise occurrence. consequently off-line handwritten character recognition needs study of various methods. This paper apply watershed algorithm to preprocessing for off-line handwritten hangul character recognition. This paper presents effective method in four steps in watershed algorithm as consider execution time of watershed algorithm and quality of result image. As apply watershed algorithm with effective structure to preprocessing, can get to the good result of image enhancement and binarization. In this experiment, this paper is estimate the previous method with this paper method for execution time and quality in image. Average execution time on the previous method is 2.16 second and Average execution time on this paper method is 1.72 second. While this paper method is remove noise effectively with overlap stroke, the previous method does not seem to be remove noise effectively with overlap stroke.

Separation of Character Strings and High Quality Vectorization for Korean Cadastral Map (한국 지적도에서의 문자분리 및 고품질 벡터화)

  • We propose a new method which can solve the difficulty of separation the character strings from the interconnected lines and the distortions of vectorization at the crossing points and the junction points for the digitized maps at the same time. After the image is thinned, the crossing points and the junction points are detected with their neighbors, which we call the uncertain areas. And then the broken lines are connected each other, and the character strings are separated at the same time. The proposed method is applied to Korean cadastral map. Usually, Korean cadastral map consists of straight lines and character strings. The experimental results show that the method is effective in separating the character strings and getting high quality vectorization for the Korean cadastral map.

  • This paper presents the interrelationship between software quality character and engineering attributes. The software quality characteristics and subcharacteristics are excerpted from IS0/IEC 9126 standards, and the engineering attributes are from Deutsch and Willis〔4〕. Based on the previous studies a subjective judgement, trisected interrelationship(strong, medium, weak) bet these two groups are derived. The results are summarized in a table, and can be used as a quick reference guide to the software quality engineering application such as quality evaluations for software products, selection of key engineering attributes for high-quality software production, and so forth.

  • The purpose of this study was to analysis how the elements of character are reflected in the 3rd and 4th grade elementary mathematics textbooks based on the 2009 revised curriculum. This study focused on the elements of character in the 3rd and 4th grade mathematics textbooks. The researchers analyzed the elements of character in the students' mathematics textbooks and teacher's guide books. In particular, they analyzed how those elements of character are reflected in those books. Findings of this study are as follows. First of all, the elements of character were founded in the most of units on the 3rd and 4th grade mathematics textbooks, but they were biased to the specific elements of character. Second, the resources using related with character vary in the textbooks. As methods of character education, connections of elements of character with mathematical concepts, broader view of the world, or problem solving are appeared. From the results of the research, we suggest the followings. We need to set the teacher's roles in character education. Mathematics textbooks should include various elements of character for effective character education. In addition to development of quality materials for character education in mathematics education, teacher education programs should include character education in mathematics education.

  • Similar to the other cultural contents, the character industry is based on the media which acts as the technological background. In fact, the character industry is the process of that a created character accesses to the consumers via media, builds its value and becomes licensed as a brand in the market. Therefore, it is crucial to select the most effective media for the consistence of a character in the market, as well as for construction of a higher brand quality of the character. Today, "Webtoon" might be considered as one of the marketing means which utilizes the Internet media for raising the character as a brand. Webtoon has apparent strength because it can be produced in shorter period and with less expense than through other media. Furthermore, Webtoon can be simply featured by the easiness of two-way communication and transference to another media through it. For these reasons, and according to the result of analyzing some Korean Webtoons, it seems obvious that the most effective media in character marketing is the Internet. In addition to the Internet, the strategic development in the media-mix is also important for establishing a brand of a character. However, the effective media-mix is available only when the character's external identity meets with the trait of its media. For the purpose of learning how the media-mix works when a character reaches for the consumers, a character "Hamataeng" was born and used in the experiment. This study will explain the marketing process through the use of own-created Webtoon and other contents, and suggest the ways to build a brand of a character. In addition, it is also indicated that a media-mixing strategy for transformation and expansion of the character to other media.

A Study on The Effects of Spokes-Character Characteristics on Perceived Quality and Brand Attitude (캐릭터의 특성이 지각된 품질과 브랜드 태도에 미치는 영향)

  • Many companies are increasing the use of characters to enhance brand image and brand value. The use of characters in the certain industry is active, however, the research on characters in academia is insufficient. The purpose of this study is to investigate how characteristics of characters affect on consumer's brand attitude and to suggest the guideline companies to concern on brand characters, in especial on designing or licensing them. The results showed that all characteristics of character positively influenced on brand attitude. Among nine characteristics of the character, trust was the most impact and nostalgia was the least impact on brand attitude, respectively. Perceived quality was mediated on in relations between the brand character and brand attitude. In indirect effect, familiarity was the most impact on brand attitude. In sum, we suggested that trust and familiarity of the character are the most weighted characteristics on brand character design strategy.

  • It's called masterpieces, which are made up of a lot of enthusiasts by adding a variety of configurations, high game quality, and colorful and realistic graphics. Since many classic games came out and disappear from the game companies, they have been revived in recent years as mobile. Although this phenomenon may have various hardware and software reasons, the present researcher intends to compare and analyze the graphical issues of the characters that can increase the game immersion by the user's autonomous selection among the factors for the immersion of the game. In addition to the birth of one of the most loved characters in the world among the characters of various games, it is considered to be a character who has developed the process of graphic and various expressive production centering on the character called Super Mario which shows various developments than the character in the game history of the world We will present various possibilities of development of game character through comparative analysis and research based on the character.

The Embodiment of a Performer and Character: Psychophysical Pathway to the Practical Attunement of a Performer's Body

  • This thesis explores the embodiment of a performer and a character/role specifically by examining what the term character is associated with and implies in a sense of the performer's bodily training through which what happens to their body. First of all, this research begins to investigate the relationship between a performer and a character centred on the performer's bodily experience through training and/or studio work. From a perspective of a performer, the concept and practical approach of a character itself essentially includes and signifies all the given circumstance of a specific play which has to be acknowledged then inhabited through the performer's body. That is, the internal structure of the text parallels with articulating and developing the spine of a specific character which take place as the substance leads the performer's body to an organic action and/or that of way corresponding to what the character needs and wants to obtain through a series of moment on stage. Here, we argue that the purposeful action as a process and result of applying/inhabiting the substance enhances the performer's body as the whole being participates in the given environment within which his/her body can also work or function by means of the integrated oneness. Second, in a manner of the most fundamental level, both the ethic of acting and the central task of a performer remind us the significance of allowing therefore experiencing subtle bodily movement, namely, responses to stimulus from in/outside of his/her body either visible or invisible on the one hand. At the same time, such a journey of self-discovery empowers the performer to explore new potential possibilities on the other. Finally, as the research finding suggests that these practical insights are necessarily need to be acknowledged as a point of the departure through which the quality of a performer's body is also cultivated by means of the changeable wholeness in order to being on stage.

Effectiveness of a Positive Psychology-based and Character Strengths-integrated Activity Program on Depression, Vitality, Life Satisfaction in Elderly Living Alone in Rural Areas (긍정심리기반 성격강점 통합활동 프로그램이 농촌 독거노인의 우울, 활력, 생활만족도에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a positive psychology-based and character strengths-integrated activity program for elders living alone in rural areas, and then to examine the effectiveness of the program. Methods: A quasi-experimental pre- and post-test design with a nonequivalent control group was used. The participants included 59 elders in total, of whom 30 were assigned to the experimental group and 29 to the control group. positive psychology-based and character strengths-integrated activity program for elders consists of sixty-minute sessions held twice per week during 6 weeks, hence 12 sessions in total. Results: There were significant differences between the experimental and control groups in depression, vitality and life satisfaction (all p<.001). Conclusion: The positive psychology-based and character strengths-integrated activity program for elders living alone in rural areas is effective in that it decreased the degree of depression and increased the vitality and life satisfaction in the participants.
