Development of an Algorithm for Korean Letter Recognition using Letter Component Analysis (조합형 문자구성을 이용한 문서 인식 알고리즘)

  • This paper proposes a new image processing algorithm to recognize korean documents. It take out the region of syllable area from input character image, then it makes recognition of a consonant and a vowel in the character. A precision segmentation is very important to recognize the input character. The input image has 8-bit gray scaled resolution. Not only the shape but also vertical and horizontal lines dispersion graph are used for segmentation. Theresult shows a higher accuracy of character segmentation.

Demand Analysis of Factors of Teaching Competency for Character Education of Early Childhood Teachers (영유아교사의 인성교육 지도역량 요인에 대한 요구도 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine teaching competency for character education of early childhood teachers and their demands to improve their capacities. 152 kindergarten and child care teachers responded to 30 survey questionnaires, which included 3 sub-factors(commutative, practical, instrumental) of teaching competency for character education of the teachers, as well as 16 detailed components, designed to check their current competency for character education and to investigate the priority elements that they desired to improve. The data were analyzed based on the Borich request formula, the locus for focus model, and the independent sample t-test across the teacher groups. The results were as follows: Firstly, the most highly demanded teaching competency by the teachers was using tools interactively for character education. And the teachers, among the sub-elements, requested (a) recording and evaluating character education systematically, (b) using local or national resources, (c) planning member's participation, and (d) performing character education related activities systematically. Secondly, more new teachers demanded instrumental competency and answered the need of parents' participation among the sub-elements, more than the more experienced teachers, respectively. The study discussed the implications of promoting early childhood teachers' teaching competency for character education.

Comparative Analysis of On-Line Game Characters' Costumes and Fashion Trend Color (온라인 게임 캐릭터 복식 색채와 패션 트렌드 색채의 비교 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to come up with ways that cooperate between on-line game design and fashion design by analyzing trend color and on-line game character's costume color in on-line game. As for the research methodology, First, on-line games were selected with reference to www.ranky.com. Second, 2009 SS trend color palettes suggested by Copenhagen International Fashion Fair was used as a criterion of fashion trend. Third, on-line game character's costume colors were analyzed in relation to the degree of reflection of trend and the game character's type. The results are as follows. Each on-line game character costume's colors were made in accordance with typical character types. But we can find a one-to-one correspondence between fashion trend colors and game character costume's colors. That's because both trends and character types are the results of the continuing interactions between human-beings and societies. In comparison with fashion trend colors, game character costume colors are partly raw and inharmonious. Therefore, it is necessary to apply fashion trend color in game character costume design for enhancing competitiveness in the world market.

Children's Personalized Inferences when Reasoning about Other's Emotion or Behavior (타인의 정서 및 행동 추론 시 아동의 개인화된 추론)

  • The purposes of this study were (1) to investigate children's personalized inferences of characters emotional reactions depending on character's personality trait, emotional situation, children's age and gender, (2) to investigate children's personalized inferences of character's behavioral reactions depending on character's personality trait, emotional situation, children's age and gender, (3) to investigate differences between children's personalized inferences of character's emotional reaction and that of character's behavioral reactions. The subjects were 103 children from three age groups (thirty-four 3-year-olds, thirty-three 5-year-olds and thirty-six 7-year-olds). The statistical methods adopted for the data analysis were frequency, percentile, mean, standard deviation, repeated measure ANOVA and paired t-test. The result showed that there were significant differences in children's personalized inferences of character's emotional reaction depending on character's personality trait, emotional situation and their age. There were significant differences in children's personalized inferences of character's behavioral reaction depending on children's age and gender. There were significant differences between personalized inferences of character's emotional reaction and behavioral reactions.

Longitudinal Analysis to Regional LQ Index Competitiveness of Character Culture Contents Industry (캐릭터 문화콘텐츠 산업의 권역별 입지 경쟁력 분석에 대한 종단적 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the status and the competitiveness improvement of character industry comparing to relative LQ index of the no. of character company, the no. of employee and the amount of revenue of 2007, 2009, and 2010 between including Metro area and regional blocks(kangwon, chungchung, daekung, honam, dongnam and jeju region). The results of this research are as follows. In case whole regional analysis, no. of employee and no. of character company suggested jeju, dongnam and Metro have high competitiveness during the 3 years and amount of revenue suggested consistent high competitiveness 6 block except Metro. But in case of except of Metro, no. of character company and the no. of employee indicated dongnam and jeju showed competitiveness during 3 years. Chungchung area indicated high competitiveness at no. of employee(2009) and no. of character company(2011). The amount of revenue indicated jeju area have high competitiveness during 3 years.

  • Specially, the character in the kids animation is the fundamental visual element, and also has the high value which is to connect to various related businesses. The main purpose of this study is the analysis for character's appearance by the basic plane figure, and it has studied on the authority of recognition capability which is to catch the simple shape rapidly and clearly rather than complex shape. For this study, I established the standard of analysis and then applied that to the characters which were selected in broadcasting domestic kids animation on EBS. Through this procedure, I analyzed character's appearance with the distribution chart. As the result, the circular and oval shapes are the most frequently used shapes for character's appearance. Finally, I expect the result of this study could be one of the design index for the character creation in practical environment.

  • The objective of this study is to explore basic type of character of humans and to suggest a design method of establishing a spatial construction environment for developing effective learning ability based on such type of character. As a range of research, spatial formative language was deduced and space design strategy for the children was suggested through an analysis of spatial requirements by exploring connectivity depending on features of 9 types of character through Enneagram. As a method of research, a process of suggesting a concrete method after defining an element of spatial construction and deducing a formative language for developing and strengthening effective learning ability for each type of character. As a result of research, the methods of children space design strategy for enhancing learning ability for leadership in a future specific fields were suggested through 9 different type of character with image of case study.

  • Upon the needs to draw the judicial elements of creativity in the copyrighted character designs, this paper aims to draw and categorize the elements based on the analysis of preceding court decisions. The results are as follows: the form of body, the features in its face and its composition, the overall image, the degree of personification, and aesthetic sensation. These elements reflect formative skills required to portray the intrinsic quality of a character. This paper is of significant interest in that it suggested the legal basis and elements of creativity in character design to professionals in both areas of design and judicial decisions.

  • Soft ground has complex features in mechanic character of ground. Some problems about the settlement and transformation occur if the ground strength is comparatively weak and the depth is large. Therefore, we should consider physical and mechanical characters for safe, economical design and management. As the result of the course, we can compare them with those of field then solve the limitations which were came from the complex character of the soft ground. I have considered the soil's physical character (specific gravity of soil particles, moisture content, grain-size analysis etc) and mechanical character (direct shear test, consolidation, triaxial shear test etc), and then make out a linear interpolation by regression using the two, those and connection of the depth

A Study on Analysis of Teachers' Recognition on Field Practice and Effectiveness of Creativity and Character Education (창의·인성교육의 현장 실천도 및 효과성에 관한 교사들의 인식 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate teachers' recognition on field practice and effectiveness of creativity and character education. This study used post tests to examine the effects of teacher training for creativity and character education on 451 teachers. The results were as follows. Firstly, the average in satisfaction of teacher training for creativity and character education was 4.65 for elementary teachers and 4.35 for secondary teachers in summer, and 4.55 for elementary teachers and 4.42 for secondary teachers in winter. Secondly, effectiveness of teacher training on creativity and character education was showed highly as more than 4.0 and was higher in winter than in summer. Thirdly, in the case of field practice and effectiveness of teacher training for creativity and character education, the average of elementary teachers(3,66) was higher in respect of educational environment than that of secondary teachers(3.20) and the averages of elementary teachers and secondary teachers were 3.85 and 3.42 in respect of subject activity, respectively. In practising creativity and character education, it was analyzed that both elementary(ave. 3.89) and secondary(ave. 3.84) teachers went through some difficulties for curriculum reconstruction, development of instructional model, program development, and human and physical supports.
