  • This study aims to understand the using characteristics of TV animation and web-based animation of children and investigate the effects of change in viewing process on the purchase of character goods. For this purpose, an online survey was conducted for parents who have children as animation viewers. The results show that there was no difference by age or gender in using both TV and web animation. When parents get animation information on TV, they had their children watch animation through the same TV channel, but the web has no significant relationship between information acquisition path and main service they use. In addition, it is found that parent' perception of TV animation superiority is influenced by respondents' income and children's watching time of animation has no effect on it. Finally, monthly income of households, payment amount of web animation, watching time of TV animation, and perception of quality of TV animation have a significant effect on parents' active purchase of character goods. On the other hand, the purchase intention of the recommended goods is influenced by children's age, the parent's perception about the web animation quality, and the payments of the web animation.

  • For cracked concrete, it is obvious that cracks should be preferential channel for the penetration of aggressive substances such as chloride ions according to the previous researches. In order to extend the lifetime of cracked concrete, critical issues in the performance of the concrete is the risk of chloride-induced corrosion. Even though crack width can be reduced due to the high reinforcement ratio, the question is to which extend these cracks may jeopardize the durability of cracked concrete. If the size of crack is small, surface treatment system can be considered as one of the best options to extend the service life of concrete structures exposed to marine environment simply in terms of cost effectiveness versus durability performance. Thus, it should be decided to undertake an experimental study on the effect of surface coating system, which can be able to seal the concrete and the cracks to aggressive substances-induced corrosion in particular. In this study, it is excuted to examine the effect of surfaced treated systems on chloride penetration and carbonation through compressive stress induced cracks. Experimental results have showed conclusively that critical stress linked with deterioration, should be existed in compressive stress ratio 50 ~ 70% for chloride penetration and 70 ~ 80% for carbonation, respectively. When the critical stress is exceeded in concrete, a comparatively large deterioration was measured where the critical stress in concrete, the increase in the mass transportation is marginal in spite of the large increase in micro-cracks. As for the effect of surface coating system on crack-sealing, it can be seen conclusively that cracks can be healed.

  • Recently, users want to use real-time multimedia services, such as internet, VoIP, etc., using their IEEE 802.11 wireless lan mobile stations. In order to provide such services, a handoff among access points is essential to support the mobility of a node, in such an wide area. However, the legacy handoff methods of IEEE 802.11 technology are easy to lose connections. Also, the recognition of a disconnection and channel re-searching time make the major delay of the next AP to connect. In addition, because IEEE 802.11 decides the selection of an AP depending only on received signal strength, regardless of a node direction, position, etc., it cannot guarantee a stable bandwidth for communication. Therefore, in order to provide a real-time multimedia service, a node must reduce the disconnection time and needs an appropriate algorithm to support a sufficient communication bandwidth. In this paper, we suggest an algorithm which predicts a handoff point of a moving node by using GPS location information, and guarantees a high transmission bandwidth according to the signal strength and the distance. We implemented the suggested algorithm, and confirmed the superiority of our algorithm by reducing around 3.7ms of the layer-2 disconnection time, and guaranteed 24.8% of the communication bandwidth.

  • In this paper, we propose the functional models of optical burst switching (OBS) routers to apply GMPLS (Generalized Multiprotocol Label Switching) to optical networks based on OBS. In addition, we introduce a connection admission control (CAC) algorithms which are operated in this models and can accommodate the required QoS. Firstly, the characteristics of current GMPLS and OBS for the optical Internet are basically considered. With this consideration, the models are proposed to accept OBS features which include the recognition of data bounda η with control information and the statistical multiplexing in terms of bursts. Secondly, we use an offset time decision (OTD) algorithm on behalf of controlling the connection admission with taking QoS parameters such as burst loss rate(BLR) and service-differentiation ratio(SDR) into consideration. The proposed CAC algorithms use the offered load of LSP (Label Switched Path), wavelength information, and QoS parame ‘ ers as inputs of OTD algorithm. A call setup request will be accepted when the offset time decided by OTD algorithm is reasonable for guaranteeing its requested QoS. Simulation is used for performance evaluation Results show the proposed schemes can guarantee the required QoS and those are better than the previous one in terms of channel utilization.

  • When best-effort traffic users are supported in a downlink small-cell network, conventional schemes assign the channels experiencing low co-channel interference at each base station and provide a better downlink performance to the user near its serving base station, so that conventional schemes are not suitable to fairly support all users. In this paper, we propose a decentralized frequency reuse scheme for a small-cell network, where each basestation chooses a set of channels to fairly support the best-effort traffic users regardless of the distances to their serving basestation. After performing the conventional scheme that each basestation selects the channels which are not used in its adjacent basestations, it updates assigned channels improving the performance of low throughput users in a fully distributed manner with mitigating the overall throughput performance loss. The computer simulation demonstrates that the average throughput performance of the 10th percentile throughput users is improved up to 15% in some case compared to that of the conventional scheme, while allowing the overall throughput loss around 3%.

  • Existing Wi-Fi networks require users to follow network settings of the AP (Access Point), resulting in inconveniences for users, and the password of the AP is shared by all users connected to the AP, causing security information leaks as time goes by. We propose, in this work, a personalized secure Wi-Fi network, in which each user is assigned her own virtual Wi-Fi network. One virtual Wi-Fi per user makes the user-centric network configuration possible. A user sets a pair of her own SSID and password on her device a priori, and the AP publishes its public key in a suitable way. The AP also maintains an open Wi-Fi channel, to which users can connect anytime. On user's request, the user device sends a connection request message containing a pair of SSID and password encrypted with the AP's public key. Receiving the connection request message, the AP instantiates a new virtual AP secured with the pair of SSID and password, which is dedicated to that single user device. This virtual network is securer because the password is not shared among users. It is more convenient because the network adapts itself to the user device. Experiments show that these advantages are obtained with negligible degradation in the throughput performance.

  • In this paper, an efficient call control procedure is presented for next generation wireless ATM networks and its performance is mathematically analyzed using the open queueing network. This procedure is based on a new scheme called as the cell clustering. When we use the cell clustering scheme, at the time that a mobile connection is admitted to the network, a virtual cell is constructed by choosing a group of neighboring base stations to which the call may probabilistically hand over and by assigning to the call a collection of virtual paths between the base stations. Within a microcell/picocell environment, it is seen that the cell clustering can support effectively a very high rate of handovers, provides very high system capacity, and guarantees a high degree of frequency reuse over the same geographical region without requiring the intervention of the network call control processor each time a handover occurs. But since mobiles, once admitted, are free to roam within the virtual cell, overload condition occurs in which the number of calls to be handled by one base station to exceed that cell site's capacity of radio channel. When an overload condition happens, the quality of service is abruptly degraded. We refer to this as the overload state and in order to quantify the degree of degradation we define two metrics, the probability of overload and the normalized average time spent in the overload state. By using the open network queueing model, we derive closed form expressions for the maximum number of calls that can be admitted into the virtual cell such that the two defined metrics are used as the acceptance criteria for call admission control.

  • Wireless Access in Vehicular Environments (WAVE) communication technology, which provides vehicleto-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communication and offers safe and convenient service, has been developed for application to an Intelligent Transport System (ITS). This paper provides field test results on a study of the feasibility of WAVE technology application to railway communication systems. A test railway communication system based on WAVE technology has been built along the Daebul line and a newly developed EMU. Field tests have been carried out according to the communication function requirements for LTE - R. The test results show that the railway communication system based on WAVE technology meets the functional requirements: maximum transmission length is 730m, maximum transfer delay is 5.69ms, and maximum interruption time is 1.36s; other tests including throughput test, video data transmission test, VoIP data test, and channel switching test also produced results that meets the functional requirements. These results suggest that WAVE technology can be applied to the railway communication system, enabling Vehicle-to-Wayside communication.

  • The RFID system provides undeniable advantages so that it is used for various application. However recent RFID system is vulnerable to some attacks as eavesdropping, replay attack, message hijacking, and tag tampering, because the messages are transmitted through the wireless channel and the tags are cheap. Above attacks cause the tag and reader impersonation, denial of service by invalidating tag, and the location tracking concerning bearer of tags, A lot of RFID authentication protocol bas been proposed to solve the vulnerability. Since Weis, Sanna, Rivest, and Engel, proposed the bash-based RFID authentication protocol, many researchers have improved hash-based authentication protocol and recent bash-based authentication protocols provide security and desirable privacy. However, it remains open problem to reduce the tag identification time as long as privacy and security are still guaranteed. Here we propose a new protocol in which the tags generate the message depending on the state of previous communitions between tag and reader. In consequence, our protocol allows a server to identify a tag in a reasonable amount of time while ensuring security and privacy, To be specific, we reduced the time for the server to identify a tag when the last session finished abnormally by at least 50% compared with other bash-based schemes that ensure levels of security and privacy similar to ours.
