Flow on Grooved Roof Surface

  • Spatially varied unsteady flow in a groave-like channel of a sloping roof is analyzed by numerical solution of Saint Venant equations. Depth variations are discussed with different slopes and bed roughness of the channel. Time to equilibrium is found to be inversely proportional to the kinematic flow number. The design of roof drainage system by different schemes is included.

화자 인식을 위한 GMM기반의 이중 보상 구조 (Double Compensation Framework Based on GMM For Speaker Recognition)

  • In this paper, we present a single framework based on GMM for speaker recognition. The proposed framework can simultaneously minimize environmental variations on mismatched conditions and adapt the bias free and speaker-dependent characteristics of claimant utterances to the background GMM to create a speaker model. We compare the closed-set speaker identification for conventional method and the proposed method both on TIMIT and NTIMIT. In the several sets of experiments we show the improved recognition rates on a simulated channel and a telephone channel condition by 7.2% and 27.4% respectively.

  • 본 논문에서는 comb 방식의 파일럿 패턴을 가지는 MIMO OFDM 시스템에서의 채널 추정 기법에 대하여 논의한다. 또한, 시변 채널 환경에서 채널 측정의 정확도를 높이기 위한 효율적인 채널 추정 기법을 제안한다. 시뮬레이션을 통해 제안한 채널 추정 기법이 채널이 변하는 상황에서 성능의 감소 없이 채별의 변화를 추정함을 알 수 있었다.

The Characterizing Analysis of a Buried-Channel MOSFET based on the 3-D Numerical Simulation

  • A depletion-mode MOSFET has been analyzed to evaluate its electrical behavior using a novel 3-D numerical simulation package. The characterizing analysis of the BC MOSFET was performed through short-channel narrow-channel and small-geometry effects that are investigated, in detail, in terms of the threshold voltage. The DIBL effect becomes significant for a short-channel device with a channel length of $<\;3({\mu}m)$. For narrow-channel devices the variation of the threshold voltage was sharp for $<4({\mu}m)$ due to the strong narrow-channel effect. In the case of small-geometry devices, the shift of the threshold voltage was less sensitive due to the combination of the DIBL and substrate bias effects, as compared with that observed from the short-channel and narrow-channel devices. The characterizing analysis of the narrow-channel and small-geometry devices, especially with channel width of $<\;4({\mu}m)$ and channel area of $<\;4{\times}4({\mu}m^2)$ respectively, can be accurately performed only from a 3-D numerical simulation due to their sharp variations in threshold voltages.

  • 본 논문에서는 Ku 대역 위성 중계기용 도파관형 협대역 채널 여파기를 설계, 제작하였으며 2단 반시형 등화기를 사용하여 대역 내에서의 군지연 및 진폭 변화를 최소화하였다. 주파수 선택도 규격을 만족시키기 위하여 채널 여파기는 8차 타원 응답형으로 설계하였으며 무게 및 부피 최소화를 위하여 여파기와 등화기 공히 원통형 공동의 TEl13 모드의 수직, 수평 편파를 이용하는 이중모드 공진기로 설계하였다. 제작한 채널 여파기와 등화기는 위성 중계기에 적용 가능한 성능을 나타내었다.

  • The power line channel has time-variant characteristics caused by various kind of electrical devices. This characteristics are synchronized with the main voltage by their own characteristics. The main factors of disturbance are the variation of the channel impedance and noises. In other papers, the synchronous noise modeling has been achieved. But the modeling is not satisfied simultaneously with the time domain and the frequency domain and there are not any discussion about short-term variations of the channel impedance which cause to the signal fading. Therefore, this paper researched to solve problems about the signal fading by analyzing the short-term variation of the channel impedance, and proposed the synchronous noise modeling which is satisfied simultaneously in the time domain and the frequency domain.

3D NAND Flash Memory에서 Tapering된 O/N/O 및 O/N/F 구조의 Threshold Voltage 변화 분석 (The Analysis of Threshold Voltage Shift for Tapered O/N/O and O/N/F Structures in 3D NAND Flash Memory)

  • 본 논문은 3D NAND Flash memory에서 tapering된 O/N/O(Oxide/Nitride/Oxide) 구조와 blocking oxide를 ferroelectric material로 대체한 O/N/F(Oxide/Nitride/Ferroelectric) 구조의 Vth(Threshold Voltage) 변화량을 분석했다. Tapering 각도가 0°일 때 O/N/F 구조는 O/N/O 구조보다 저항이 작고 WL(Word-Line) 상부와 WL 하부의 Vth 변화량이 감소한다. Tapering된 3D NAND Flash memory는 WL 상부에서 WL 하부로 내려갈수록 channel 면적이 감소하며 channel 저항이 증가한다. 따라서 tapering 각도가 증가할수록 WL 상부의 Vth가 감소하고 WL 하부의 Vth는 증가한다. Tapering된 O/N/F 구조는 channel 반지름 길이와 비례하는 Vfe로 인해 WL 상부의 Vth는 O/N/O 구조보다 더 감소한다. 또한 O/N/F 구조의 WL 하부는 O/N/O 구조보다 Vth가 증가하기 때문에 tapering 각도에 따른 Vth 변화량이 O/N/O 구조보다 더 증가한다.

  • Seasonal to inter-annual variations of water properties in the western channel of the Korea Strait are investigated using quasi-monthly hydrographic observations collected during 2006-2010. Weak vertical temperature and salinity gradients are observed during the winter months and these remain until May. At the upper layer, temperature increases from March and reaches a maximum in August, while salinity decreases during the same period. Near-bottom water shows low temperatures during late winter and fall with a minimum peak in September. Korea Strait Bottom Cold Water produces thick layers (>20 m) in 2006 and 2010, while it is observed very near the bottom with relatively high temperature in 2008 and 2009.

Micro-PIV Measurements of In Vitro Blood Flow in a Micro-Channel

  • Flow characteristics of blood flow in a micro channel were investigated experimentally using a micro-PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) velocity field measurement technique. The main objective of this study was to understand the real blood flow in micron-sized blood vessels. The Reynolds number based on the hydraulic diameter of micro-channel for deionized (DI) water was about Re=0.34. For each experimental condition, 100 instantaneous velocity fields were captured and ensemble-averaged to get the spatial distributions of mean velocity. In addition, the motion of RBC (Red Blood Cell) was visualized with a high-speed CCD camera. The captured flow images of nano-scale fluorescent tracer particles in DI water were clear and gave good velocity tracking-ability. However, there were substantial velocity variations in the central region of real blood flow in a micro-channel due to the presence of red blood cells.
