  • Predictive channel reservation techniques have widely been studied in mobile cellular networks in order to meet the desired quality-of-service requirements. Those efforts are mostly concentrated on predicting the target cell that a mobile will move to and reserving the channel before the actual handoff, and subsequently reducing handoff-dropping probability and improving bandwidth utilization. In this paper, we propose adaptive reporting schemes that a mobile reports its mobility status information such as position, speed, and direction in an appropriate moment based on the user's mobility pattern characteristics and, hence the network can make a more-accurate prediction on the user's mobility. We show from the simulations that the proposed scheme is capable of keeping target cell prediction more accurate and required number of reporting through the wireless up-link channel lower.

  • An integrated medical information system that integrates systems consisting of different environments centered on hospital information systems should be provided as a system that prioritizes the improvement of the quality of medical services, customer satisfaction, and patient safety. The RBAC-based medical information system is granted the access right according to task type, role, and rules. Through this, it is possible to use SMS channel, medical reservation and cancellation, customized statistics, and CRM / EMR interworking service using multi-channel to enable communication service without help of counselor and reduce the default rate of reservation patient, Operational improvement services can be extended to medical staff, patients and their families, as well as expanding to important decisions for patients.

  • In a multi-channel network based of wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technology, an efficient protocol is needed in order for the transmitter and receiver to be tuned to the same wavelength during message transmission time. This paper proposes a priority-based reservation protocol that can efficiently support variable-length messages that require different QoS requirements. In this proposed protocol, high-priority nodes can reserve the data channel before low-priority nodes. However, once a node reserves a data channel successfully, it can persistently use the reserved channel till message transmission is finished regardless of the priority of the node. Moreover, the protocol can operate independently of the number of nodes, and any new node can join the network anytime without requiring network re-initialization. The protocol is analyzed with a finite population model and the throughput-delay characteristics are investigated as performance measures.

  • In this paper, we propose a multi-channel medium access control (MAC) protocol, named underwater multi-channel MAC protocol (UMMAC), for underwater acoustic networks (UANs). UMMAC is a split phase and reservation based multi-channel MAC protocol which enables hosts to utilize multiple channels via a channel allocation and power control algorithm (CAPC). In UMMAC, channel information of neighboring nodes is gathered via exchange of control packets. With such information, UMMAC allows for as many parallel transmissions as possible while avoiding using extra time slot for channel negotiation. By running CAPC algorithm, which aims at maximizing the network's capacity, users can allocate their transmission power and channels in a distributed way. The advantages of the proposed protocol are threefold: 1) Only one transceiver is needed for each node; 2) based on CAPC, hosts are coordinated to negotiate the channels and control power in a distributed way; 3) comparing with existing RTS/CTS MAC protocols, UMMAC do not introduce new overhead for channel negotiation. Simulation results show that UMMAC outperforms Slotted floor acquisition multiple access (FAMA) and multi-channel MAC (MMAC) in terms of network goodput (50% and 17% respectively in a certain scenario). Furthermore, UMMAC can lower the end-to-end delay and achieves a lower energy consumption compared to Slotted FAMA and MMAC.

  • In this paper, a channel access control algorithm and a slot allocation algorithm are proposed as MAC protocol for multimedia services in TDMA/TDD-based wireless ATM networks. In the proposed protocol, VBR terminals that require real-time services transmit a reservation request through a random access minislot. VBR terminals, which are successfully transmitted the reservation request, transmits the dynamic parameters through a dynamic parameter minislot without contention. On the other hand, ABR terminals transmit a reservation request with contention basis whenever a non-real-time traffic burst is generated. Based on the received dynamic parameters and the number of requested slots, the base station scheduler allocates a dynamic parameter minislot as well as uplink data slots into VBR terminals. Also the scheduler allocates uplink data slots into ABR terminals in proportion to the number of requested slots.

  • Handover is very important to support the mobility of user because wireless ATM networks have smaller cell size such as micro/pico cell for broadband mobile multimedia service In this paper, we propose dynamic path reservation handover scheme for fast inter-MSC (Mobile Switching Center) handovers To reduce the handover delay for connection re-routing, the proposed scheme reserves virtual channels from nearest common node to neighbor MSC in advance Especially, our handover scheme predicts the number of inter-MSC handover calls at each period by the prediction algorithm and reserve virtual channels The simulation and analysis results show that our scheme reduce handover complexity and has higher reservation channel utilization, compared with DVCT scheme.

  • From the growth of internet technology, many e-commerce principles have been Introduced In airline industry. The computer reservation systems(CRS) has been considered as the first real-time business application and the earliest examples of e-commerce. in airlines, the early e-business activity was to build the web site for providing flight Information to customers. Recently, many airlines are expanding the capability of the web site for selling tickets on the web to make use of the cheaper distribution channel. In this paper, we focus on the impacts of airline e-business being implemented in airline distribution channels. Using the conjoint analysis, we suggest a model for estimating the change of market sales for each distribution channel. With the empirical survey, we can find some implications on the e-business strategy and the effective internet marketing tools for airlines.

  • Soft handoff provided in CDMA cellular system has much advantage such as better service quality, interference control and low call dropping probability. In this paepr, we propose an optimum resource reservationscheme for handoff calls in the CDMA cellular system to increase the soft handoff probability in handoff. In the proposed scheme, resources of each frquency channel are reserved for handoff according to the number of its neighbot cells serving the same frequency channel. A performance analysis shows that the soft handoff probability of the proposed scheme is higher than that of conventional scheme disregarding the condition of frquency assignment of neighbot cells, and that ever frequency channel served by neighbor cells should reserve more than one traffic channel for handoff to get good performance.

  • In this paper, we propose the AMBM(: Adaptive Multi-channel Backoff Machisum) -Mac protocol to provide high throughput for non-safety applications in VANET(: Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks) environment. The proposed protocol guarantees the quality of service of non-safety packets by dynamically adjusting CW(: Channel Window) of WSA(: WAVE Service Advertisement) to maximize throughput between non-safety packets of different priority. It also shows that allocating a large amount of time for channel coordination and time slot reservation for SC and dynamically adjusting CW and CCI as nodes increase to reduces transmission delay than IEEE 1609.9, C-MAC(: Coordinated multi-channel MAC, and Q-VCI(: QoS Variable CCH Interval) protocols.
