In this paper, we consider a precoder design problem for multiuser interference channel. Most of the conventional schemes for precoder design utilize a signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) as a cost function. However, since the SINR metric of a desired transmitter-receiver pair is a function of precoding vectors of all transmitters in the multiuser interference channel, an analytic closed-form solution is not available for the precoding vector of a desired transmitter that maximizes the SINR metric. To eliminate coupling between the precoding vectors of all transmitters and to find a closed-form solution for the precoding vector of the desired transmitter, we use a signal-to-leakage-plus-noise ratio (SLNR) instead as a cost function because the SLNR at a transmitter is a function of the precoding vector of the desired transmitter only. In addition, channel estimation errors for undesired links are considered when designing the precoding vector because they are inevitable in a multiuser interference channel. In this case, we propose a design scheme for the precoding vector that is robust to the channel estimation error. In the proposed scheme, the precoding vector is designed to maximize the worst-case SLNR. Through computer simulation, we show that the proposed scheme has better performance than the conventional scheme in terms of SLNR, SINR, and sum rate of all users.

We have analyzed channel doping and dimensions(channel length, width and thickness) for the optimum subthreshold characteristics of DG(Double Gate) MOSFET based on the model of MicroTec 4.0. Since the DGMOSFET is the candidate device to shrink short channel effects, the determination of design rule for DGMOSFET is very important to develop sub-100nm devices for high speed and low power consumption. As device size scaled down, the controllability of dimensions and oxide thickness is very low. We have analyzed the short channel effects for the variation of channel dimensions, and found the design conditions of DGMOSFET having the optimum subthreshold characteristics for digital applications.

In this paper we analyze the influence of source/drain (S/D) extension region design for minimizing short channel effects (SCEs) in 25 nm gate length single and double gate Silicon-on-Insulator (SOI) and Germanium-on-Insulator (GOI) MOSFETs. A design methodology, by evaluatingm the ratio of the effective channel length to the natural length for the different devices (single or double gate FETs) and technology (SOI or GOI), is proposed to minimize short channel effects (SCEs). The optimization of non-overlapped gate-source/drain i.e. underlap channel architecture is extremely useful to limit the degradation in SCEs caused by the high permittivity channel materials like Germanium as compared to that exhibited in Silicon based devices. Subthreshold slope and Drain Induced Barrier Lowering results show that steeper S/D gradients along with wider spacer regions are needed to suppress SCEs in GOI single/double gate devices as compared to Silicon based MOSFETs. A design criterion is developed to evaluate the minimum spacer width associated with underlap channel design to limit SCEs in SOI/GOI MOSFETs.
A hybrid performance prediction method is proposed in the present study. A channel diffuser is divided into four subregions: vaneless space, semi-vaneless space, channel, and channel exit region. One-dimensional compressible core flow and boundary layer calculation of each region with an incidence loss model and empirical correlation of residuary pressure recovery coefficient of a channel predict the performance of diffusers. Three channel diffusers are designed and tested for validating the developed prediction method. The pressure distributions from an impeller exit to the channel diffuser exit are measured and discussed for various operating conditions from choke to nearly surge conditions. The strong non-uniform pressure distribution which is caused by impeller-diffuser interaction is obtained over the vaneless and semi-vaneless spaces. The predicted performance shows good agreement with the measured performance of diffusers at a design condition as well as at off-design conditions.
Heating channel layout design and evaluation technology for SMC molding system was investigated in this work. Traditional rules of cooling channel design in injection molding were applied to the present work. Finite element thermal analysis with $ANSYS^{TM}$ was performed to evaluate the temperature distribution of SHC mold surface. SMC mold was manufactured to evaluate the effect of a proposed heating channel layout system on the temperature distribution of SMC mold surface and infrared camera was applied to a measurement of temperature distribution. It was shown that infrared camera application was possible in a measurement of temperature distribution on SHC mold surface.
The design of ion channel targeted library is a valuable methodology that can aid in the selection and prioritization of potential ion channel-likeness for ion-channel-targeted bio-screening from large commercial available chemical pool. The differences of property profiling between the 93 ion-channel active compounds from MDDR and CMC database and the ACDSC compounds were classified by suitable descriptors calculated with preADME software. Through the PCA, clustering, and similarity analysis, the compounds capable of ion channel activity were defined in ACDSC compounds pool. The designed library showed a tendency to follow the property profile of ion-channel active compounds and can be implemented with great time and economical efficiencies of ligand-based drug design or virtual high throughput screening from an enormous small molecule space.
In this paper, we discuss the design problem and the robustness of space-frequency trellis codes (SFTCs) for multiple input multiple output, orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) systems. We find that the channel constructed by the consecutive subcarriers of an OFDM block is a correlated fading channel with the regular correlation function of the number and time delay of the multipaths. By introducing the first-order auto-regressive model, we decompose the correlated fading channel into two independent components: a slow fading channel and a fast fading channel. Therefore, the design problem of SFTCs is converted into the joint design in both slow fading and fast fading channels. We present an improved design criterion for SFTCs. We also show that the SFTCs designed according to our criterion are robust against the multipath time delays. Simulation results are provided to confirm our theoretic analysis.
Side channel spillways based on Hinds theory were tested. Surface water level at the beginning point of side channel is the same as the crest level of weir in the usual design. Here, side channel section were moved upwards $\frac{1}{2}$ of the total head on the crest and test(revised experiment) were made. In the revised experiments, coefficients of discharge for design flood (Q) were the same with that of original design experiments. In case of 1.2Q a little influence of submergence were appeared, coefficients of discharge were decreased to be about 97.6% of that of original design experiments, therefore, Reservoir flood water level become higher about 2-3cm than original case. So revised design can be used for actual purpose and it will brings much savings in construction cost of side channel spillway.
For the proper cooling of in-wheel motor, the cooling channel should have the characteristics which are low pressure drop and adequate cooling oil supply to motor part. In this study, the flow performance of cooling channel for in-wheel motor was evaluated and the shape of the channel was optimized. First, the pressure drop and flow distribution characteristics of the initial channel model were evaluated using numerical analysis. Also, by the result of analysis and design modification, 4 design parameters of the channel were selected. Second, using the Taguchi optimal method, the cooling channel was optimized. In the method, nine models with different levels of the design parameters were generated and the flow characteristics of each models was estimated. Base on the result, the main effect of the design parameters was founded and optimized model was obtained. For the optimized model, the pressure drop and oil flow rate were about 0.196 bar and 0.207 L/min, respectively. The pressure drop decreased by about 0.3 bar and the oil flow rate to the motor part increased by about 0.2 L/min compared to the initial model.
This study conducted to optimize the design and operation of orifice typed distribution channels which were generally constructed to link the rapid mixing process and flocculation/sedimentation basin. To accomplish the goal of this study, programming step method using FORTRAN 90, was applied it to simulate the performance of existing distribution channel in the selected S DWTP (Drinking Water Treatment Plant). The proposed step method program was validated in terms of the feasibility with comparison between the measurement and prediction value in each orifice. From the evaluation results of the current conditions with the design and operation, it was revealed that the existing gradient of the tapered channel is not appropriate. Also, we suggested that in the case of the inlet width being 3.5m, reducing the downstream width by about 0.5m would make more equitable distribution flow in the channel. Consequently, dealing with various conditions of the design and operation with distribution channel, we could conclude that for the parallel typed channel, as the width is wider and the diameter of orifice is smaller, the more equitable distribution occur. In addition, the inlet flowrate and the number of orifice can affect the flow velocity in the channel.
