The purpose of this study is to identify the problems that a current day care center has by analyzing the space arrangement, and to come up with the suggestion that would improve the arrangement along with the interior design of the day care center by studying the usage of materials, colors, lightings and furniture. The result of this study to follow problems were identified. 1. Classrooms also served as sleeping areas, therefore those two areas needed to be separated. 2. The kitchen was too small for the number of children. So they need separated kitchen and dining room. 3. The day care center remodeled from the ordinary house was wrose than other facilities in material, color pattern and design for child-care. 4. A lot of fluorescent light and bulb were used without enough windows to let natural sunlight in. 5. The restroom was so small that it caused uncomfortability to children. Based on the problems above, we could reach to a following conclusion. Use of primary colors could brighten the image of a room, and feature or creative arrangement of furniture may make it intriguing. With the increase in the expectation and attention to the young kids, the facilities should change according to them and be designed for the children. It is needed to study about whether the space and the elements of the emotional image were applied properly.

The purpose of this study is to find out the changes on the metropolitan apartment unit plans based on the interior spaces for women such as master bedroom, bathroom and attached spaces to the master bedroom, living room, diningroom, kitchen, utility room, and balcony. This study used the content analysis method, space syntax. Contents were the floor plans with 3 rooms type and limited to about $105m^2$ among drawings of an apartment encyclopedia. Above all, 174 unit plans were analyzed until now. Specifically, using $S^3$-Convex program, the integration and control value periodically of the interior spaces for women(master bedroom, bathroom and attached spaces to the master bedroom, living room, diningroom, kitchen, utility room) is understood. Second, using SPSS package 16.0, relative size of the interior spaces for women on the unit floor plan is understood periodically. Finally, the changes on the apartment unit plans based on a woman' aspect after 1980's is reanalyzed.
As the properties of living space and objects change in the digital era, furniture is also expected to change. This study starts from the question of such inclination that the digital innovation drives territories among products into the ambiguous, then tries to trace the variation of meaning against the furniture. Based on this possibility these functions, this research aims, to find out the digital functions which is preferred to be integrated with the furniture for the users of the residential space and the interface design aspects, which are considered important. preliminary survey using university students was done to extract the possible digital functions for convergence. The respondents were married women in their 20s and 30s who filled out the surveys on the internet. As a result, the specific digital convergence functions for both living and kitchen space were Identified. As major important expects for them were found functionality and controllability. Thus furniture design will expand to a concept which designs a new way of life.
The plan of Korean traditional houses are devided by the span-units which is the automatic result of the timber construction. This study aims to analyze the ways plan type change when the number of span changes. One village named Bangchon in Honan Province was selected where we investigated more than 30 houses ranging from 3 span to 6 span. It is identified that there were certain rules which govern the plan change when number of span change. When one span is added onto 3 span houses, wooden floor of one span is added in between the two ondol-rooms. When one span is added onto 4 span houses, kitchen is enlarged. When one span is added onto 5 span houses, wooden floor is enlarged into 2 span, Also the plan of Man's quarter(Sarang-chae) was investigated and compared to Lady's quarter. The research proves that such rules of plan change need to be considered as a basic standard of analysis when traditional houses are to be studied.
The study is the analysis on Oe-am village which is designated as a folk-preservation village in 1988 and is included in the fact of the dwelling change through Spot-Survey and Case-Investigation in the last decade from now(2001), The result shows the main change on the stand-up dining room installation, the place with the boiler and bathroom installation, the additional expansion through the combination of the small twice or third space, the using change, the prototype restoration. The reason of this change is shown the following. 1. There is the dual structure that the villager repairs that because the repairing operation is biased the prototype restoration since the government construction. 2. The internal change is come from more at thatched house than at tiled house and the order of the main element's change is Kitchen (35%), main room (30%), living room (24%) and other rest room (11%). 3. The change of the dining room in the internal composition material is the strongest and the change is included in the using change, the installation of the new sub-division in the spot and the expansion of the outside if necessary. The reason of the main change is life-style's. Therefore we can know the change of the dwelling structure and we are able to make a modern-life. Also, If the restoration or repair is necessary, the change element on that must be considered.
The aim of this study is to understand the modernization process of interior spaces in the Korean housing, focused not only on the architectural aspects, but also on the sociological, anthropological and feministic aspects of housing. The development of korean housing from the period of traditional agricultural society and Japanese domination through the period of industrial development to the period of modem industrial society have been reviewed not from the Point of westernization but from the point of Korean own needs for modernity. It also tried to find the determinants of the relationship between social behavior patterns and space organization through historical change of housing plans. As a result, it was found the various western impacts to the continuation or change of Korean housing culture in the modernization process. Consequently this study comes to the concrete results as follows; 1) sociological aspect: The early layout of floorplans, that promoted the communication and contact between the user were changed. The layout of spaces in the modern housing tends to be not interdependence each other and be very isolated from the outdoor spaces. Those Phenomena reflect the trends to the Individualization, equivalence and privatization in the life of family. 2) feministic aspects: Differently from the early kitchen, modern ones locates in the internal space in the housing and the dinning area is appeared. And also the standing work at the kitchen war usually spreaded. Such changes are due to the emancipation of the women and downfall of the subordinate relationship between the genders. 3) anthropological aspects: The lifestyle, in which the user was mostly sitting on the floor, was constantly disappeared by using of furnitures that determines the function of each spaces in the housing. Those change demonstrate the change of behavior Patterns, thus, the needs of differentiation of function as well as the feministic needs. In other word, the coexistence of both fields of work and relax is required. 4) tectonic aspects: In the indoor space of modern housing the rooms are closed each other. Thus, concentrated circulation system act to separate these spaces. It is concrete spatial element that mostly shows the synthetic character of modem housing.
The purpose of this study was to examine the characteristics of change in the composition of indoor spaces in Korean-style houses which have been repaired and improved extensively through the 'Bukchon Improvement Project' and are being utilized for public purposes. For this, we conducted a field survey through visiting the house sites from the 5th to the 26th of May, 2006. Conclusions drawn from this study are as follows. Bukchon Korean-style houses maintain centripetal space composition, in which the rooms surround the court. Centering on the court, the hierarchy of spaces is determined, and the hierarchy of spaces and the composition of internal layout are restructured centering on the court and the main hall without change in direction and position. The main hall is sometimes converted to a room, but it maintains an open space relation with other spaces centering on the court, and therefore, even after its use has been changed, it is still the most Korean-style space. In addition, with floor heating, the common sitting-style life is maintained continuously although the rooms have been converted and standing-style furniture is used. In this way, publicly promoted policies for Korean-style houses are allowed within the limit that the appearance is maintained and the internal spaces do not change the overall structure. However, in order to maintain the tradition of Korean-style houses and utilize them as various spaces, the following supplementations are necessary. First, the main hall and the inner court of a Koreanstyle house should be utilized actively. The court sometimes keeps individuals' privacy or expands the space by extending the view to outdoor spaces, and is sometimes used as an open space through interconnection between the inside and the outside of the house. Second, consideration should be given to vertical spaces. Horizontal expansion causes a change of floor plan. Thus, space should be secured using various cross-sectional changes, such as a kitchen and a loft over the kitchen. Third, structure should be changeable in order to adjust the size of spaces. Thus, through research on traditional windows, we need to develop changeable walls that can be installed and removed easily according to the use of spaces.
The aim of this study was to investigate the trend of the room where activities of daily living and family rituals(activities of non-daily living) were performed between 1992 and 2002. Research data was collected in 1992 and 2002 from households living in Seoul that have university student by using questionnaire surveys. Data was analyzed using the SPSS package program. The major findings of this study were as follows: 1) Living room was a multi-function space for various activities: receiving guests, family communication, ironing, sewing and dining as well as a kitchen. Anbang(master bed room) is the place where the couple sleeps. Anbang's function has changed from a multi-function space to a private space. 2) Most of the families performed the majority of the family rituals in the living room and Anbang. In 1992, traditional events and birthday parties were performed in Anbang, but in 2002, the trend has changed. This would mean that with time the majority of the family rituals were held in the living room. 3) Space planning is required to meet the dwellers' use of living room and Anbang.
Korea Furniture design development process is repeated a number of changes by the change of residence and type of market demand derived from the process of industrialization. The modernization process of industrialization advances by large-scale population moves to the city to urbanization proceeds rapidly. Housing problems are concentrated in cities and sparked the furniture industry, furniture design by changes in marketing concepts that appear in the industrialization phase, growth must necessarily accommodate the needs of consumers. Including kitchen furniture, living room furniture and master bedroom furniture has been sensitively adapted changes in the structure of these houses, particularly structural changes Apartments. Starting in the 1990s, jumping over furniture industry has adapted quickly to the market demand, changes in marketing concepts. Furniture industry is growing market share in most of the country, but the entire industry had to undergo a competitive marketing overheating due to excessive supply in excess of market demand since the mid-1990s. Changes in furniture design in this process was the change in furniture design more than the change of the residential structure. The study industrial development and marketing concepts are changing to construct a model to track the changes varied styles and time changes affect whether the main furniture design.

The vernacular houses with 田-shaped floor plan at Gangreung have been played important roles in tracing the vernacular living cultures including housing life. But due to the adoption of convenient facilities in vernacular housing lives caused by modernization and urbanization, many changes and transformations have happened at residential space of vernacular houses. This thesis targets to extract basic data to prepare and prevent various problems in process of renovation, extension and function change as installing housing life facilities, and to identify the changes and transformations of them to prepare the proper balances between their original form preservation and residents' convenience living. The results are as follows. The inner wall removal of rooms, the fuel change of cooking and heating, the leveling change of kitchen floor made possible the sedentary lifestyles. And its residential rooms were transformed from two row to one row by inner wall removal, the fuel heating change, the heating method change and the heat insulating materials. The residential extension materials were changed from the traditional materials such as soil, wood, etc to the modern materials such as cement block or brick, sandwich panel, etc. And the modern materials were used and attached to widen residential spaces to the vernacular house because of the easiness of execution. So, it is necessary for 田-shaped floor plan vernacular house owners to distribute printed execution guide book to prevent and minimize the various problems to be shown by extension, renovation and function change.
