  • Various algorithms such as Chronochrome(CC), Principle Component Analysis(PCA), and spectral unmixing have been studied for hyperspectral change detection. Change detection by spectral unmixing offers useful information on the nature of the change compared to the other change detection methods which provide only the locations of changes in the scene. However, hyperspectral change detection by spectral unmixing is still in an early stage. This research proposed a new approach to extract endmembers, which have identical properties in temporally different images, by Iterative Error Analysis (IEA) and Spectral Angle Mapper(SAM). The change map obtained from the difference of abundance efficiently showed the changed pixels. Simulated images generated from Compact Airborne Spectrographic Imager (CASI) and Hyperion were used for change detection, and the experimental results showed that the proposed method performed better than CC, PCA, and spectral unmixing using N-FINDR. The proposed method has the advantage of automatically extracting endmembers without prior information, and it could be applicable for the real images composed of many materials.

  • In this paper, a GNSS interference detection algorithm based on an adaptive fading Kalman filter is proposed to detect a spoofing signal which is one of the threatening GNSS intentional interferences. To detect and mitigate the spoofing signal, the fading factor of the filter is used as a detection parameter. For simulation, the effect of the spoofing signal is modeled by the ramp type bias error of the pseudorange to emulate a smart spoofer and the change of the fading factor value according to ramp type bias error is quantitatively analyzed. In addition, the detection threshold is established to detect the spoofing signal by analyzing the change of the error covariance and the effect of spoofing is mitigated by controlling the Kalman gain of the filter. To verify the performance analysis of the proposed algorithm, various simulations are implemented. Through the results of simulations, we confirmed that the proposed algorithm works well.

  • In this paper we calculate the subgroup size necessary for detecting the change of percent defective with several detection probabilities for orginal population fraction nonconforming p, changed population fraction nonconforming $p^*$, and the ratio k=$p^*$/p in the usage of p control charts. From our calculation we can know the error level of normal a, pp.oximation in detection probability calculation and recommend the subgroup size with lower error levels of normal a, pp.oximation, and then we show the reasonable subgroup size necessary for p, $p^*$, k, and the detection probability of the change of fraction nonconforming in a process. The information that we here show in tables will be useful when p control chart users decide the subgroup size in the p control chart users decide the subgroup size in the p control chart.

  • This study was to analyze the difference in pilot error by using the Signal Detection Theory. The task was to detect the targeted aircraft(signal) which is different shape from many other aircraft(noise). From the two experiments, we differentiated the task difficulty followed by change in noise stimuli. Experiment 1 was to search the signal stimuli(fighter plane) while the noise stimuli(cargo plane) were increasing. The results from the Experiment 1 showed the tendency to decrease the hit rate by increasing the number of noise stimuli. However, the false alarm rate was not increased. The sensitivity(d') showed quite high. In Experiment 2, a disturbance stimulus(helicopter) was added to noise stimuli. The result was generally similar to those of Experiment 1. However, the hit rate was lower than that of Experiment 1.

  • Change detections is carried out under the assumption that pixel boundaries of geometrically corrected time series satellite images cover the same location. However that assumption can be wrong when shifts in the pointing direction of a satellite sensor occurs. Currently, although the influence of misregistration on landcover change detection has been investigated, there has been little research on the influence of pointing direction shifts of a satellite sensor. In this study, a simple method for reducing the effects of pointing direction shifts of a satellite sensor is proposed: the classification of two ASTER images was carried out using the linear spectral mixture analysis, the two classification results were resampled into a geometrically fixed grid, and then the change detection of the two ASTER images was carried out by comparing the resampled classification results of the two images. The proposed method showed high performance in discriminating between changed areas and unchanged areas by removing the pointing direction shifts of a satellite sensor.

  • This paper presents design for error correcting algorithm of the time of flight (ToF) detection value in the light detection and ranging (LIDAR) system sensor. The walk error of ToF value is generated by change of the received signal power depending on distance between the LIDAR sensor and object. The proposed method efficiently compensates the ToF value error by the independent ToF value calculation from the received signal using both rising point and falling point. A constant error of ~0.05 m is obtained after the walk error correction while an increasing error up to ~1 m is obtained with conventional method.

  • In power quality monitoring, it is very important to detect disturbances (sag, swell, transient, and interruption) accurately. In this paper, a detection method for power quality disturbances by combining the filter bank system and adaptive filter is proposed. To decompose power signal, binary tree structured filter bank system is designed. In the filter bank system, the fundamental filter bank(QMF bank) is used as a module in each decomposing level. An adaptive filter is used to improve the detection accuracy of disturbances for each subband signal. In the adaptive filter, the measure of estimated error change is used to detect singular points of power quality disturbances. Computer simulations were performed on synthetic signals which have disturbances to assess the performance of the proposed method.

  • Maritime object detection systems, which detects small maritime obstacles such as fish farm buoys and visualizes distance and direction, is equipped with a 3-axis gimbal to compensate for errors caused by hull motion, but there is a limit to distance error corrections necessitated by the vertical movement of the camera and the maritime object due to wave motions. Therefore, in this study, the distance error of maritime object detection systems caused by the movement of the water surface according to the external environment is analyzed and corrected using average filter and moving average filter. Random numbers following a Gaussian standard normal distribution were added to or subtracted from the image coordinates to reproduce the rise or fall of the buoy under irregular waves. The distance calculated according to the change of image coordinates, the predicted distance through the average filter and the moving average filter, and the actual distance measured by laser distance meter were compared. In phases 1 and 2, the error rate increased to a maximum of 98.5% due to the changes of image coordinates due to irregular waves, but the error rate decreased to 16.3% with the moving average filter. This error correction capability was better than with the average filter, but there was a limit due to failure to respond to the distance change. Therefore, it is considered that use of the moving average filter to correct the distance error of the maritime object detection system will enhance responses to the real-time distance change and greatly improve the error rate.

  • In this paper, we propose a new adaptive dissolve detection method based on the analysis of a dissolve modeling error which is the difference between an ideally modeled dissolve curve with no correlation and an actual dissolve curve including a correlation. The proposed dissolve detection method consists of two steps. First, candidate dissolve regions are extracted using the characteristics of a downward convex parabola, then each candidate region is verified based oil the dissolve modeling error. If the dissolve modeling error for a candidate region is less than a threshold defined by the target modeling error with a target correlation, the candidate region is determined as a resolve region with a lower correlation than the target correlation. The threshold is adaptively determined based on the variances between the candidate regions and the target correlation. By considering the correlation between neighbor scenes, the proposed method is able to be a semantic scene-change detector. The proposed method was tested on various types of data and its performance proved to be more accurate and reliable regardless of variation of variance of test sequences when compared with other commonly use methods.
