The enhancement to the back-propagation algorithm presented in this paper has resulted from the need to extract sparsely connected networks from networks employing product terms. The enhancement works in conjunction with the back-propagation weight update process, so that the actions of weight zeroing and weight stimulation enhance each other. It is shown that the error measure, can also be interpreted as rate of weight change (as opposed to ${\Delta}W_{ij}$), and consequently used to determine when weights have reached a stable state. Weights judged to be stable are then compared to a zero weight threshold. Should they fall below this threshold, then the weight in question is zeroed. Simulation of such a system is shown to return improved learning rates and reduce network connection requirements, with respect to the optimal network solution, trained using the normal back-propagation algorithm for Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP), Higher Order Neural Network (HONN) and Sigma-Pi networks.

This paper suggested the model which could calculation propagation path. It was calculation in reflection spot which was done last in line of sight according to the change of angle of incidence. And road widths and intersection angles were to be changed to consider various types of urban area. As a result, propagation path increased when angles of an intersection changed to 15$^{\circ}$~75$^{\circ}$ and attenuated to roughly 1[dB]~2[dB] than existed model.
The Earth is not perfectly spherical and its rotational axis is not fixed in space, and these geophysical and kinematic irregularities work as dominant perturbations in satellite orbit propagation. The International Earth Rotation Service (IERS) provides the Conventions as guidelines for using the Earth's model and the reference time and coordinate systems defined by the International Astronomical Union (IAU). These guidelines are directly applied to model orbital dynamics of Earth satellites. In the present work, the effects of the latest conventions released in 2010 on orbit propagation are investigated by comparison with cases of applying the previous guidelines, IERS Conventions (2003). All seven major updates are tested, i.e., for the models of the precession/nutation, the geopotential, the ocean tides, the ocean pole tides, the free core nutation, the polar motion, and the solar system ephemeris. The resultant position differences for one week of orbit propagation range from tens of meters for the geopotential model change from EGM96 to EGM2008 to a few mm for the precession/nutation model change from IAU2000 to IAU2006. The along-track differences vary secularly while the cross-track components show periodic variation. However, the radial-track position differences are very small compared with the other components in all cases. These phenomena reflect the variation of the ascending node and the argument of latitude. The reason is that the changed models tested in the current study can be regarded as small fluctuations of the geopotential model from the point of view of orbital dynamics. The ascending node and the argument of latitude are more sensitive to the geopotential than the other elements. This study contributes to understanding of the relation between the Earth's geophysical properties and orbital motion of satellites as well as satellite-based observations.

The propagation behavior and structural variation of a premixed propane/air flame with frequency change in an ultrasonic standing wave at various equivalence ratios were experimentally investigated using Schlieren photography and pressure measurement. The propagating flame was observed in high-speed Schlieren images, allowing local flame velocities of the moving front to be analyzed in detail. The study reveals that the distorted flame front and horizontal splitting in the burnt zone are due to the ultrasonic standing wave. Vertical locations of the distortion and horizontal stripes are intimately dependent on the frequency of the ultrasonic standing wave. In addition, the propagation velocity of the flame front bounded by the standing wave is greater than that of the flame front without acoustic excitation. As expected, the influence of the ultrasonic standing wave on premixed-flame propagation becomes more prominent as the frequency increases.

An experimental method based on flexural wave propagation is proposed for identification of structural damage in rail fastening systems. The vibration of a rail clamped and supported by viscoelastic pads is significantly influenced by dynamic support properties. Formation of a defect in the rail fastening system induces changes in the flexural wave propagation characteristics owning to the discontinuity in the structural properties. In this study, frequency-dependent support stiffness was measured to monitor this change by a transfer function method. The sensitivity of wave propagation on the defect was measured from the potential energy stored in a continuously supported rail. Further, the damage index was defined as a correlation coefficient between the change in the support stiffness and the sensitivity. The defect location was identified from the calculated damage index.

Plants regenerated from in vitro cultures are associated with chromosomal variations, which have been generally found in long-term culture. Reducing plant culture age is one of the ways to reduce genetic and epigenetic changes. The present study focused on the efficient in vitro propagation of lily cultivars and has intensified to speed up bulb propagation for cryopreservation. The multiplication process applied in this experiment uses starting material, which the newly small bulb formed from bulb-scales in two lily cultivars. The adventitious bulb from bulb-scale tissue cultured on three different media following Murashige and Skoog (MS) basal medium supplemented with 1 g/L Charcoal, MS medium containing 0.3 mg/L IAA and 0.4 mg/L BA hormone with or without Charcoal, respectively. After about seven weeks, there is little change in the number of newly propagated bulbs in small bulbs of the two media. Compared to the both mediums, the number of the propagated bulbs is increased 5 times in MS medium containing 0.3 mg/L IAA and 0.4 mg/L BA hormone without Charcoal. After about seven weeks, the results of the propagation showed that the number of the propagated bulbs is increased 5 times in MS medium containing 0.3 mg/L IAA and 0.4 mg/L BA hormone without Charcoal compared to the both mediums. The number of propagated bulbs ranged from 5 to 6 and 4 to 6 with an average of 5 in Tropicalpink and Greenstar cultivars, respectively. There is little change in the number of newly propagated bulbs in small bulbs of other media. The multiplication process applied in this study may save in vitro culture period and effort.
Not only difference of fatigue crack growth and propagation behavior resulted from the grain size, the hardness ratio and volume fraction in M.E.F. dual phase steel composed of martensite in hard phase and ferrite in soft phase, but also the effects of the plastic constraint were investigated by fracture mechanics and microstructural method. The main results obtained are as follows: 1) The fatigue endurance of M.E.F. steel increases with decreasing the grain size, increasing the ratio of hardness and volume fraction. 2) The initiation of slip and crack occures faster as the stress level goes higher. These phenomena result from the plastic constraint effect of the second phase. 3) The crack propagation rate in the constant stress level is faster as the grain size gets larger, the ratio of hardness lower and volume fraction smaller.
In the Grid Database, some replicas will have more requests from the clients than others. A fast consistency algorithm has been presented to satisfy the high demand nodes in a shorter period of time. But it has poor performance in multiple regions of high demand for forming the island of locally consistent replicas. Then, a leader election method is proposed, whereas it needs much additional cost for periodic leader election, information storage, and message passing, Also, false leader can be created. In this paper, we propose a tree-based algorithm for replica update propagation. Leader replicas with high demand are considered as the roots of trees which are interconnected. All the other replicas are sorted and considered as nodes of the trees. Once an update occurs at any replica, it need be transmitted to the leader replicas first. Every node that receives the update propagates it to its children in the tree. The update propagation is optimized by cost reduction for fixed propagation schedule. And it is also flexible for the dynamic model in which the demand conditions change with time.
Most cracks in the structure occur under mixed mode loadings and those propagation depend on the stress ratio very much. So, it is necessary to study the fatigue behavior under mixed mode loading as stress ratio changes. In this paper, fatigue crack propagation behavior was investigated respectively at stress ratio 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7 and we change loading application angle to $0^{\circ},\;30^{\circ},\;60^{\circ}$ to apply various loading. mode. The mode I and II stress intensity factors of CTS specimen used in this study were calculated by displacement extrapolation method using FEM(ABAQUS). Using both the study through the experiment and the theoretical study through FEM analysis, we studied the relation between crack propagation rate and stress intensity factor range at each loading mode due to the variation of stress ratio. Also, when the crack propagated under given stress condition and given loading mode condition, we studied what the dominant factors of the crack propagation rate were at each case.
This paper describes a study of fillet welded joint stressed perpendicular to the weld line. The finite element method was used to determine the stress intensity factor for cruciform joint at weld toe and root cracks according to variation of H/Tp, weld angle and main plate thickness. But, in this study, weld angle was fixed at 45.deg., since the variation of weld angle affect the stress intensity factor little, also main plate thickness was fixed. Pulsating tension fatigue test was done at the second phase of experiment. The work using the concepts of the fracture mechanics on the stable crack growth, was in the correlation of the experimental fatigue stress-life behavior because the fatigue behaviors of various joint geometries are related to the stress intensity factors calculated by F.E.M. analysis. Main results obtained are summarized as follows. 1) According to the propagation of toe crack, the variation of the stress intensity factor at root crack is obvious as H/Tp is smaller. 2) According to the propagation of root cracks, the change of the stress intensity factor of the toe is very large with propagation of root crack. 3) The calculation formula of the stress intensity factor of crack propagation at the root crack was obtained. 4) The calculation formula of the stress intensity factor at the toe cracks was obtained in similar manner. 5) From the results of experiment, the velocity of fatigue crack propagation at the weld toe and root was estimated.
