  • Engineering changes are indispensable engineering and management activities for manufactures to develop competitive products and to maintain consistency of its product data. Analysis of engineering changes provides a core functionality to support decision makings for engineering change management. This study aims to develop a method for analysis of engineering changes based on On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP), a proven database analysis technology that has been applied to various business areas. This approach automates data processing for engineering change analysis from product databases that follow an international standard for product data management (PDM), and enables analysts to analyze various aspects of engineering changes with its OLAP operations. The study consists of modeling a standard PDM database and a multidimensional data model for engineering change analysis, implementing the standard and multidimensional models with PDM and data cube systems and applying the implemented data cube to core functions of engineering change management, the evaluation and propagation of engineering changes.

  • As the software development process becomes complicated, software requirements become complicated, too. Many efforts are needed in requirements management. It is impossible to define all requirements of software at first, and the development environment changes as project is gone. As the cost of requirements change management is much more than development cost, the changes should be controled immediately through systematic change management. In this paper, I suggest a method to manage requirements change systematically based on the change management process in software product lines. The requirements change at the application engineering process is analyzed and managed using the domain engineering process because the application requirements are customized from the domain requirements in software product lines. Such the consistent change management helps to make decisions about changes by change impact analysis and alternative solution design. Through this method, the potential change costs can be saved because same change requests are not repeated by controlling the change requests completely.

  • Indicators of environmental conditions describe the state of the environment and the quantity and quality of natural resources. This study deduced the evaluation items to assess each sub-indicator for agricultural water quality and conducted the surveying using the Delphi method based on agricultural water quality experts. Considering its importance, environmental, state, and management indicators showed that state indicator such as COD concentration for surface water and $NO_3-N$ concentration for groundwater was ranked as first and followed by amount of fertilizer. Its indicators were correlated with state and environmental indicators in surface water and groundwater. The best management indicators were calculated to assess the agricultural surface water and ground water quality. The indicator could be used in established policies for management and conservation of water resources.

  • Insufficient requirement management accounts for 54% ofunsuccessful software development projects and 22% of insufficient requirement management comes from requirement change management. Hence, requirement management activities are important to reduce failure rates and a tracing method is suggested as the major factor in requirements change management. A traceability table is easy to use because of its legibility accurate tracing. However, traceability tables of existing studies have failed to concretely suggest method of change management and effect of traceability. Also, studies of methods to estimate change impact is complex. Hence, this study suggests how to use a traceability table to manage changes in requirements. Together, in comparison to existing studies, this study suggests easier methods to estimate change rate and change impact. Also Fifteen projects were sampled to test the hypothesis that traceability table influences the success of projects and that it decreases the failure rate that comes from the insufficient requirements management.

  • Configuration Management (CM) is a process of identifying and documenting the characteristics of a Structures, Systems and Components (SSCs), and of ensuring that changes to these characteristics are properly assessed, approved, issued, implemented and verified. There are requirement management, change control, facility configuration information management for CM activities. In order to improve safety of Nuclear Power Plant(NPP), it is necessary to manage change item systematically. Existing CM concept is focused on the NPP in operation. On the other hand, NPP under construction is difficult to efficiently manage the change because of different change process from varoius stake-holders. This research considers method of consolidation change process for NPP to ensure that approved changes are accurately reflected in the design requirements, facility configuration information, and the physical configuration.

  • PURPOSES : To operate more efficient traffic management system, it is utmost important to detect the change in congestion level on a freeway segment rapidly and reliably. This study aims to develop classification method of congestion change type. METHODS: This research proposes two classification methods to capture the change of the congestion level on freeway segments using the dedicated short range communication (DSRC) data and the vehicle detection system (VDS) data. For developing the classification methods, the decision tree models were employed in which the independent variable is the change in congestion level and the covariates are the DSRC and VDS data collected from the freeway segments in Korea. RESULTS : The comparison results show that the decision tree model with DSRC data are better than the decision tree model with VDS data. Specifically, the decision tree model using DSRC data with better fits show approximately 95% accuracies. CONCLUSIONS : It is expected that the congestion change type classified using the decision tree models could play an important role in future freeway traffic management strategy.

  • This paper presents a new approach to managing dynamic business process changes based on business process change patterns. We identify and categorize business process change patterns that occur recurrently in a dynamic business environment. Several issues regarding management of process versions are discussed, and a pattern-based version management method for handling process changes more flexibly is explained in detail. We propose a mechanism for abstract process execution with runtime encapsulation of a business process, which can maximize the flexibility of process execution using multiple process versions. In addition, we propose a concept of process promotion and demotion that can dynamically choose an actual version of the process at run-time. With our pattern-based process change management and versioning approach, it is expected that the flexibility and efficiency of BPM systems can be enhanced significantly.

  • Software change management is focused on the change of a entity like the change of contents of a system or a document. In change management, interactive relationship among requirements and complex decision making is needed to obtain optimized status. In this paper we design a management model of software change management in distributed environment which mange the change among components by time and situation. In addition, each components are defined and use ANP technique for best decision-making by using the subordinate relationship and feedback considering the mutual dependency referring the change of components in distributed environment. Thus, we analyze the dependency among each components and show 3 types of change relationship. Also through analysis of dependency, we verified the effectiveness of such approach.

  • As uncertain factors are latent in a construction project by nature, a change order occurs frequently. The occurrence of change orders in construction projects conducted during construction phase is known to cause unexpected negative impacts such as cost overrun, schedule delay, quality problem, and claims in the post-process. Thus, an efficient management method is necessary to prevent and minimize change orders during construction phase when they occur frequently. This paper analyzed the causes of change orders and the impact factors that occur during the construction phase of a construction project and suggested a direction for change order database building.
