Coo-Sun activity a man of mind rule and its effect on the quality of life of female cancer patients suffering from anxiety and depression (구선 활인심법이 여성 암 환자의 삶의 질과 불안 및 우울에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate a clinical effect of Coo-Sun activity focusing on improvement of quality of life in female cancer patients. Methods: The subject of study consisted of 5 female cancer patients at the East-West Cancer Center of OO Oriental hospital. The survey methods of this study are Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-General (FACT-G) and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). Patients performed Coo-Sun activity 6 times a week and filled out FACT-G and STAI questionnaire after every 3 times training. Results: In FACT-G questionnaire, physical well-being and emotional wellbeing was improved significantly after Coo-Sun activity. And change of social/family well-being and functional well-being score were not significant statistically. In STAI questionnaire, STAI1 was improved significantly after Coo-Sun activity. And change of STAI2 score was not significant statistically. Conclusion: After Coo-Sun activity, quality of life (QOL) in female cancer patients was improved and anxiety was decreased. But this study have limitation to prove effects of Coo-Sun activity completely in female cancer patients. So well designed prospective cohort study will be needed to prove its benefits.

A Study on the Effect of Career Shock Experienced in the COVID-19 Pandemic on the Level of Subjective Career Success Perception. (코로나19 팬데믹 상황에서 경험한 커리어쇼크가 주관적 경력 성공 인식 수준에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to identify the factors of shocking events in the career aspect experienced by Korean workers in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, and to find out whether these career shocks affect individual perceptions of the importance of subjective career success. Design/methodology/approach - In the survey of 146 respondents, the career shock events experienced in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic were largely divided into three categories; 'work change', 'employment anxiety', and 'life anxiety'. For the subjective career success, seven dimensions - 'financial security', 'financial achievement', 'entrepreneurship', 'positive relationship', 'positive impact', 'learning and development', 'work-life balance' - were used. Findings - As a result, there was no difference in the perception of subjective career success due to the experience of 'work change' during the Covid-19 period. However, the respondents who experienced 'employment anxiety' came to recognize that 'financial security' and 'financial achievement' were more increasing in terms of the degree of difference of importance. And respondents who experienced 'lifetime anxiety' perceived that the degree of difference of importance was increasing in the six dimensions except for 'social influence'. Particularly, the increase in the importance of 'work-life balance' and 'positive relationship' was found to be the greatest among the career success dimensions. Research implications or Originality - Finally, it was concluded that changes in the external environment such as Covid-19 pandemic influence as a career shock and affect the level of importance in subjective career success perception. Based on the results, the theoretical implication on current career study and some practical implications for organizational career management were suggested.

The Influences of Scientific Inquiry-based Peer Teaching Experiences on Pre-service Elementary Teachers' Affective Features (과학 탐구중심 모의수업 경험이 초등예비교사의 정의적 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the impact of scientific inquiry-based peer teaching experience on pre-service elementary teachers' science teaching efficacy, anxiety to science and attitude toward science. The participants of this study included 118 pre-service teachers. The pre-post paired t-test design was implemented to examine the effect of this program. In addition, the semi-structured interviews were carried out for investigating their changes of affective characteristics. The result of this study showed that inquiry-based peer teaching provided pre-service teachers with the opportunities to enhance their science teaching efficacy and attitude toward science and reduce their anxiety to science. The findings imply that it is possible to meaningfully change elementary teachers' affective characteristics when effective strategies are adequately adopted.

Analysis of Changing Perceptions of Residents after Covid-19

  • This study is an analytical study of changes in the perception of Covid-19 communities and surveyed residents aged 20 or older living in 00-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, to identify community awareness (anxiety, stability, economic problems, and director's intention) after COVID-19. As a result of analyzing community perception (anxiety about COVID-19, stability, economic problems, and intention to move) according to gender, age, and family specificity, the survey subjects showed the highest anxiety about COVID-19 among community perception with 4.94, followed by stability 3.92, director's intention 3.51, and economic problem 3.21. primarily aims to find ways to contribute so that residents can restore trust in the local community, rebuild healthy families, and settle down in their daily lives.

Effects of Death Attitude on Death Anxiety (죽음에 대한 태도가 죽음불안에 미치는 영향)

  • This study is intended to find out the effect and differences of individual characteristic of the death attitude on death anxiety. The college students who study in the area of Chonan, Yongin, and Asan and the adults who live in the area of Chonan and Asan enrolled for this study. We analyzed the survey data from 325 responses finally. The results are summarized in three ways: First, adults are more positive than college students, religious people are more positive than nonreligious people, female are more positive than male, and married people are more positive than unmarried people in the death attitude. Second, college students are more positive than adults, nonreligious people are more positive than religious people, female are more positive than male, and unmarried people are more positive than married people in the death anxiety. Third, there is a correlation between the death anxiety and the death attitude. The fear on death has negative correlation on all subvariables of the death anxiety. Avoidance on death has positive correlation on the physical change anxiety, and openness on death has positive correlation on the cognitive and affective anxiety. Finally, It showed that the death attitude are affected by the death anxiety. The death anxiety was not much, if the fear on death are more little, the death anxiety was much, if the avoidance on death are much.

Maternal Uncertainty in Childhood Chronic Illness (만성질환아 어머니의 아동질병으로 인한 불확실성 경험)

  • The purpose of this study was to build a substantive theory about the experience of the maternal uncertainty in childhood chronic illness. The qualitative research method used was grounded theory. The interviewees were 12 mothers who have cared for a child who had chronic illness. The data were collected through in-depth interviews with audiotape recording done by the investigator over a period of nine months. The data were analyzed simutaneously by a constant comparative method in which new data were continuously coded into categories and properties according to Strauss and Corbin's methodology. The 34 concepts were identified as a result of analyzing the grounded data. Ten categories emerged from the analysis. The categories were lack of clarity, unpredictability, unfamiliarity, negative change, anxiety, devotion normalization and burn-out. Causal conditions included : lack of clarity, unpredictability, unfamiliarity and change ; central phenomena : anxiety, being perplexed ; context. seriousness of illness, support ; intervening condition : belief action/interaction strategies devotion, overprotection ; consequences : normalization, burn-out. These categories were synthesized into the core concept-anxiety. The process of experiencing uncertainty was 1) Entering the world of uncertainty, 2) Struggling in the tunnel of uncertainty, 3) Reconstruction of the situation of uncertainty. Four hypotheses were derived from the analysis : (1) The higher the lack of clarity, unpredictability, unfamiliaity, change, the higher the level of uncertainty (2) The more serious the illness and the less the support, the higher the level of uncertainty. (3) The positive believes will influence the devoted care and normalization of the family life. Through this substantive theory, pediatric nurses can understand the process of experiencing maternal uncertainty in childhood chronic illness. Further research to build substantive theories to explain other uncertainties may contribute to a formal theory of how normalization is achieved in the family with chronically ill child.

Effects of Stretching and Meditation on Anxiety, Depression, and Quality of Life in Patients with Sequelae of COVID-19 (코로나 19 후유증 환자에게 스트레칭과 명상이 불안과 우울 및 삶의 질에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: This study aims to confirm the effects of stretching and meditation intervention on mental health-related anxiety, depression, and quality of life in college students in their 20s with sequelae of COVID-19. Methods: 30 men and women were randomly assigned to the stretching and meditation intervention group (10 people), the stretching intervention group (10 people), and the meditation group (10 people), and the experiment was conducted for 4 weeks. As for the analysis method, a paired t-test was performed for intra-group changes after 4 weeks, and one-way analysis of variance was performed for between-group changes. In addition, the significance level was set at 0.05. Results: Within-group changes in anxiety and depression were significantly different in all groups after 4 weeks (p < 0.05). There was a significant difference between SMG and SG and between SMG and MG in the change between groups after 4 weeks (p < 0.05). In the change in quality of life, there was a significant difference in all groups after 4 weeks (p < 0.05). There was also a significant difference between SMG and MG in the change between groups after 4 weeks. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, the combined method of meditation and stretching intervention had a positive effect on the mental health of adults in their 20s and suggests the possibility of using it to improve mental health after recovering from COVID-19.

The Impact of Group Art Therapy on the Psychological Well-Being of Children Who have Experienced Domestic Violence (가정폭력 피해자녀들의 심리적 복지감을 위한 집단미술치료 프로그램의 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a group art therapy program on the psychological well-being of children who have experienced domestic violence. The therapy program was designed to enhance self-esteem and reduce anxiety for these children. The participants of this study included seven elementary school students and five junior high school students. The therapy program consisted of thirteen sessions that were held between September 25, 2002 and December 17, 2002. Each session lasted approximately 100 minutes. The effectiveness of this program was evaluated by a pretest and a post-test. The instruments used in the tests were the Anxiety Scale and Self-Esteem Scale. In addition, HND (Here and Now Drawing) was adopted for qualitative evaluation. The data were analyzed by paired t-tests. The results show the following: First, the group art therapy program was effective in enhancing the children's self-esteem and in reducing their anxiety. Second, there was a qualitative change in children's HND (Here and Now Drawing) after the therapy program, which proves that the group art therapy was effective.

Effect of a Self Lead Camp for Type 1 Diabetes on Depression, Anxiety, Self-respect and Self-efficacy with Type 1 Diabetes (1형 당뇨인 자기주도 캠프가 1형 당뇨병 대상자의 우울, 불안, 자아존중감 및 당뇨관리 자아효능감에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: It is thought to be crucial to guide diabetic children and adolescents through their adolescent period psychologically and emotionally. Therefore, we investigated what positive roles a type 1 diabetic camp program would play on subjects in terms of depression, anxiety, self-esteem and self-efficacy. Methods: This study evaluated 38 diabetic children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes who attended summer camp. Subjects were analyzed using a one-group pretest-posttest quasi-experimental research design. Results: There was a significant decrease in depression (t=3.55, p=.001) and anxiety (t=3.09, p=.004) after attending camp, as well as a significant improvement in self-efficacy (t=-3.64, p=.001). However, there was no significant change in self-esteem (t=0.14, p=.891). Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that type 1 diabetic camps are an effective intervention program to promote psychological and emotional stability among diabetic children; therefore, it is recommended that various diabetes programs related to camps be developed.

The clinical trial for the significant effects of acupuncture on decreasing anxiety symptom of Hwa-Byung in a single institute- single-arm with Hwa-Byung, open lable (화병환자의 불안증 해소에 대한 침치료의 유효성 평가를 위한 단일군, 공개, 단일기관 임상시험)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this research is to investigate the effects of acupuncture on the anxiety symptoms regarding Hwa-Byung. Methods : Acupuncture was applied on 15 participants, 4 males and 11 females. Hwa-Byung was diagnosed by Hwa-Byung Diagnostic Interview Schedule(HBDIS). Then clinical research STAI, BDI, VAS, HRV was carried out for investigation to analyze the change of each symptom between pre-acupuncture and post-acupuncture. Results : STAI, VAS were all significantly decreased. BDI decreased, but the decrease was not significant. All physical and psychological scores of HBDIS were significantly decreased excluding A2, B2, B3, B5, C1, C5. Subjects of HRV were different between pre-acupuncture and post-acupuncture, but the difference was not significant. Conclusions : The results suggest that acupuncture has positive effects on anxiety and other symptom of Hwa-Byung.
