옥천계 분포지 추부-대전 간 국도 대절토 사면의 Face Mapping 사례 (The example of face mapping on rock slope at Chubu-Daejeon national road)

  • At new constructing national road, a cutting slope was surveyed and gotten face mapping for three months. The slope is composed of gray phyllite and coaly slate which is the Chang-ri Formation, Okcheon system. The slope angle is 40 degree and the direction is NNE. The attitude of schistosity is $260^{\circ}/45^{\circ}$. So the slope direction is nearly parallel to the schistosity. This is the reason that the slope is very unstable. On the other hand, the very unstable slope is caused by the direction of the schistosity and the slope. First month the coaly slate was slided through the schistosity plane about 10cm. However, three months late the displacement was 2m maximum.

백제시대 부여지역 저습지에 조성된 유적에서 나타나는 연약지반 개량공법 연구 (A Study of the Construction Method for Soft Ground Reinforcement of Baekje Dynasty Based on the Low Swamp Remains in the Buyeo Area)

  • King Seong carried out the large-scale construction transferring the capital from Wungjin (Gongju) to Sabi (Buyeo) in 538. But because most of the Buyeo area was the low swamp in the time, it needed above all to form a site before transferring the capital. Until recently, in addition to the scientific excavation, the relief excavations for the construction of new building or the formation of road were conducted on many sites in the Buyeo area. As a result, many remains which were formed on the low swamp including the temple site of Neungsan-ri, Dongna Castle, the remains of Ssangbuk-ri (280-5 Bukpo, Hyeonnaedeul) and the remains of Gua-ri were identified. Also in these remains, the various engineering construction methods irrespective of the nature of remains were used for the purpose of the soft ground reinforcement as follows: mattress method of construction, pile designation, stone alignment, filing of decomposed granite soil, culverts and storage tanks. Especially, the mattress method of construction and the pile designation are thought to be the traditional engineering construction method at least in that they are appeared since the Three Han Sates era. And these soft ground construction methods had an effect on the construction of reservoir in Japan at the time. In the future, the construction method for soft ground reinforcement shall be concerned and studied further in the architecture and the civil engineering as well as the archeology.

밀양 단장면 일대에 발달하는 아연-연 광화대의 산출특성 (Occurence of Zn-Pb Deposits in Danjang-Myeon, Milyang Area)

  • 밀양시 단장면에서 대규모의 아연-연 광화대가 최근 새롭게 발견되었는데 정각산층 내에 협재되어 있는 석회암층을 모암으로 하는 스카른광상이다. 본 연구에서는 야외조사를 통한 광화대의 분포를 파악하고, 광석시료의 암석학적 특징 및 스카른광물과 광석광물의 조성 연구를 통해 이 지역에 발달된 광화대의 특성을 파악하였다. 단장면 일대에 발달하는 광화대는 국전리 광화대, 고례리 광화대 및 구천리 광화대로 크게 3개의 지역에서 산출이 확인되며, 광화대는 주로 약 200-300 m 고도에서는 섬아연석이 주 광석광물을 구성하며, 고도가 높아질수록 방연석의 함량이 많아진다. 광석은 주로 단사 휘석대에 산출되며 암녹색 내지 암회색을 띠며 헤덴버자이트, 그로슐라, 양기석 및 녹염석 등의 스카른광물과 함께 수반되고, 액시나이트, 방해석 및 석영 등이 부성분광물로 산출된다. 광석광물로는 섬아연석과 방연석이 산출되는데 섬아연석은 내부에 황동석 및 방연석을 수반하거나 인접하게 산출하며, 단사휘석 및 녹염석과 함께 산출될 때 부광대를 형성한다. 섬아연석의 FeS의 함량은 1.53-23.07 mole%로 넓은 범위를 보이며, 관계화성암으로 추정되는 흑운모화강암에서 멀어질수록 그 함량이 현저히 낮아진다. CdS의 값은 0.22-0.93 mole% 범위를 보이며, 국전리 지역에서 구천리 지역으로 갈수록 감소하는 경향을 보인다. 이와 같이 밀양 단장면 일대에 발달하는 아연-연 광화대는 국전리 지역에서부터 구천리지역에 이르기까지 광화유체가 지속적으로 진화하면서 섬아연석의 조성도 순차적으로 변하고 온도가 감소하였을 것으로 판단된다.

수리지질 특성을 고려한 제주도 서부 해안지역 용천의 유형 분류 (Classification of Spring Types in the Western Coastal Area of Jeju Island, Korea, Based on the Hydrogeological Characteristics)

  • This study aimed to classify spring types based on the hydrogeological characteristics of springs in Yongsu-ri~Hamo-ri coastal area in western part of Jeju Island. The springs in study area can be broadly categorized into three groups: perched groundwatrer springs (soil type), perched groundwater springs (sediment type), and basal groundwater springs. The perched groundwater springs of soil type correspond to springs where groundwater seeps out from the perched aquifer formed in the soil layer due to the development of clayey Kosan Formation beneath the surface. Because of the low hydraulic conductivity of soil layer, the average of spring discharge is less than 1 m3/day. The quality of spring water is significantly influenced by agricultural activities, resulting in high nitrate nitrogen concentrations and electrical conductivity. While the perched groundwater springs (sediment type) of the Suwolbong Tuff, which are located in the upper part of Kosan Formation, exhibited relatively higher discharge rates, their water quality was similar to soil-type springs. Basal groundwater springs are located in the zone of basal groundwater, mostly near the coastline. This type of spring appears to discharge of up to 3,707 m3, and the salinity content varies with the tidal fluctuations, especially increasing significantly during dry seasons.

표면강도 향상제 내첨에 따른 수초지 특성 변화 (Handsheet Property Changes by Internal Addition of Surface Strength Agent)

  • This study was performed to evaluate the effect of paper property changes by internal addition of surface strength agent on printability. Advances in printing technique has required the development of paper qualities in many aspects. Basically paper structure is composed of hydrogen bonds which induce many problems in high speed printing machine because of weak bonding strength. One of the important printing problems is surface picking when mechanical pulp or recycled pulp are used. It was caused by the ink-stained blanket in printing process because accumulations of pollutant in white water and other elements which are bonded weakly or do not have hydrogen bonds. Debris at paper surface adheres to blanket which deteriorates printing efficiency and causes various problems. To complement these problems, Pennocel 5137 of polysaccharide structure was used as an agent to improve paper's surface property, strength and printability. Paper surface picking was analyzed by RI-1 test. As the dosage amount increased tensile strength, fiber bonding strength and ZDT strength were improved. Further more formation, smoothness and surface picking resistance were improved. It was confirmed that when adding polysaccharide structure polymers to improve surface strength such as surface picking resistance, it was also possible to improve tensile strength, fiber bonding strength, formation and smoothness.

제주도 지하수자원의 최적 개발가능량 (Sustainable Yield of Groundwater Resources of the Cheju Island)

  • 제주도 지하수자원의 산출특성을 규명키 위하여 총 455개 기존관정의 자료를 전산처리하여 지역별 대수성 수리특성을 규명하였다. 제주도는 주로 현무암내에 협재된 화산쇄설층, crinker층과 현무암의 1 및 2차 유효공극이 주 대수대의 역할을 하며 이들은 기저, 준기저 및 상위대수층으로 구성되어 있다. 본도 대수층의 평균 투수량계수는 29,300 $m^2$/일이며 평 균 저유계수는 0.12로써 자유면 대수층을 이루고 있다. 종합적인 물수지 분석을 실시한 바 본도에 부존된 지하수 부존량은 약 440억 ㎥이고, 년평균 강수량은 33.9억 ㎥으로써 이 중 하천유출량은 6.38억㎥/년이며, 증발산량은 12.56억 ㎥/년(37%)이고 지하수함양량은 년평균 강수량의 44.1%에 해당하는 14.94억㎥이다. 본도에 부존된 지하수의 최적 개발가능량(sustainable yield) 을 각 지역별로 정량적으로 계산한 결과 그 양은 함양량의 41%에 해당하는 6.2억㎥/년(1,689,000 ㎥/일) 정도였으며 잔여 8.74억㎥/년(2,404,000㎥/일)은 해안이나 해저용천의 형태로 유출된다. 특히 최근에 실시한 심부 시추조사 자료에 의하면 EL-120$\pm$68m 부근에 저투수성 해성 퇴적층(일명 세화리층)이 분포되어 있는 것으로 판명되었으며 과거 서귀포층군으로 알려진 저투수성 퇴적층이 북서부와 서부 일원에서 EL-70m 부근에 널리 분포되어 있어 서귀포층군과 세화리층의 명확한 구분이 필요하다. 만일 이러한 저투수성 퇴적층이 제주도의 기저층을 이루는 경우 제주도 내에 부존된 지하수는 주로 준기저 지하수일 것이며 이는 제주도 지하수의 산출특성에 결정적인 영향을 미칠 것이다.

석회계 입상알칼리재의 용출특성과 이를 이용한 인 결정화공정의 적용성 (Elution characteristics of lime-based granular alkaline material and applicability of phosphorus crystallization processes)

  • One of the major sources causing eutrophication and algal blooms of lakes or streams is phosphorus which comes from point and nonpoint pollution sources. HAP (hydroxyapatite) crystallization using granular alkaline materials can achieve the decrease of phosphorus load from wastewater treatment plants and nonpoint pollution control facilities. In order to induce HAP crystal formation, continuous supply of calcium and hydroxyl ions is required. In this research, considering HAP crystallization, several types of lime-based granular alkaline materials were prepared, and the elution characteristics of calcium and hydroxyl ions of each were analyzed. Also, column tests were performed to verify phosphorus removal efficiencies of granular alkaline materials. Material_1 (gypsum+cement mixed material) achieved the highest pH values in the column tests consistently, also, Material_2 (gypsum+slag mixed material) and Material_3 (calcined limestone material) achieved over pH 9.0 for 240 hours (10 days) and proved the efficiencies of long-term ion supplier for HAP crystallization. In the column tests using Material_3, considerable pH increase and phosphorus removal were carried out according to each linear velocity and filtration depth. T-P removal efficiencies were 87.0, 84.0, 68.0% and those of PO4-P 100.0, 97.0, 80.0% for linear velocity of 1.0, 2.5, 5.0 m/hr respectively. Based on the column test results, the applicability of phosphorus removal processes for small-scale wastewater treatment plants and nonpoint pollution control facilities was found out.

하천의 생태적 복원을 위한 식생학적 진단 - 남한강을 중심으로 - (Diagnosis of Vegetation for the Ecological Rehabilitation of Streams - The Case of the Namhan River -)

  • This study was designed to present a river model with the aim of restoring the ecosystem and improving the landscape along the urban rivers on the basin of the Namhanl river, a core life channel for the National Capital regin. The revelation of botanical status, transition trend and correlation of plants might lead to providing the urban river restoration projects and ecological river formation projects with basic data for a model of ideal aquatic ecology and landscape. The outcomes of this study could be summed up as follows: 1. The plant communities of river flora found on the basin of the Namhan river could be categorized largely into 39 plant communities 2. Most diverse plants were distributed in the rivers lower reaches such as Unsim-ri where the protected zone of Paldang reservoir for city water borders the body of Jodae swamp where natural streams flow nearby. 3. One of the greatest threats to the biomass of the River Namhan is that the communities of such invasive alien plants as Panicum dichotomiflorum and Ambrosia artemisiifolia var. elatior dominate most parts of the area, a fact that has resulted in a reduced variety of plants and will, sooner or later, be likely to cause an ecological imbalance in the hitherto healthy Aquatic plant life. It is highly advisable to gradually diversify the species of trees and to return the plants bark to their original state since, besides the naturalized plants, plantations afforested with Erigeron canadensis and Erigeron annuus stocks in buckwheat field, Robinia Pseudo-accacia in riverside forest, Pinus rigida in terrestrial forest on the river basin and Larix leptolepis are anticipated to act as interceptors of normal migrations of the fluvial and terrestrial ecosystems. Finally, it seems also desirable to continue to explore the relationship between fluvial and terrestrial ecologies with the purpose of building up a model of natural streams in urban areas based on the surveyed factors for plant life, soil and landscape and, moreover, on the forecasting for overall influences derived from the rotation upon the ecosystem.

Extradiol Cleavage of Two-ring Structures of Biphenyl and Indole Oxidation by Biphenyl Dioxygenase in Commamonas Acidovorans

  • Commamonas acidovorans SMN4 showed wide growth substrate spectra for various aromatic hydrocarbons. Strain SMN4 was able to grow on biphenyl producing a meta-cleavage compound, yellow 2-hydroxy-6-oxophenylhexa-2,4-dienoic acid with a spray of 2,3-dihydroxybiphenyl, while it also grew on catechol, developing yellow 2- hydroxymucoic semialdehyde with a spray of 100 mM catechol. Thus these results indicate that two-ring structures of biphenyl were cleaved by meta-mode in upper and lower pathways. Strain SMN4 metabolized various substituted biphenyl compounds and xylene to the corresponding benzoate derivatives through oxidation of the ring structures. It was clearly shown that biphenyl can be a common inducer in the oxidation of biphenyl and 2,3-dihydroxybiphenyl. Various compounds were examined for their suitability to serve as substrates for indole oxidation, indicating that biphenyl, benzoate, and succinate are quite good inducers of indigo production due to the activity of biphenyl dioxygenase. This results suggest that indigo formation is by means of the combined activities of biphenyl dioxygenase and tryptophanase.

라벤다의 기내증식과 RAPD에 의한 체세포 변이체 분석 (Micropropagation and RAPD Analysis of Somaclonal Variants in Lavandula spica cv. Marino)

  • 라벤다의 기내배양을 통한 대량증식의 가능성을 알아보기 위하여 식물체 부위별 절편, 생장 조절물질 및 배지가 캘러스 유지 및 유식물체의 분화에 미치는 영향과 기내증식 개체의 변이에 대해 조사하였다. 캘러스 유도는 잎 절편을 이용한 2, 4-D 1 mg/l 와 NAA 2 mg/l 의 단독 또는 BAP 0.05 mg/l 와의 조합 처리 조건에서 양호하였다. 신초의 분화에는 경정을 이용한 BAP $2{\sim}4\;mg/l$ 단독 또는 BAP 4 mg/l +NAA 0.2 mg/l 조합 처리가 가장 양호하였다. $B_{5}$ 배지에 BAP 0.5 mg/l 와 NAA 0.01 mg/l 가 조합 첨가되었을 때 신초의 증식이 9.1배로 높게 나타났다. 분화된 신초의 뿌리 형성은 NAA $0.1{\sim}1\;mg/l$ 와 IAA 1 mg/l 에서 양호하였다. 기내에서 증식된 유식물체는 peatmoss:vermiculite:perlitc (1:1:1, v/v/v) 혼합 상토에서 90% 이상의 높은 활착율과 양호한 생육을 보였다. 재분화 식물체의 RAPD 분석 결과 primer OPA14에서 하나의 변이 band가 나타났다.
