  • The purpose of this thesis is to suggest a Practical Plan for ethical consumption by reviewing the category of Vegan Fashion and investigating its Social Value of vegan fashion. This will be achieved through investigating the papers and official home pages of 13 selected Vegan Fashion brands. It was found that in terms of use of materials such as leather, fur and organic fibers the brands can be divided into three sections: fur-free, cruelty-free and perfect vegan. A Practical Plan is suggested based on the aspects of production, consumption, distribution and education. Firstly, the provider should be required to understand vegan materials deeply, it is also desirable for them to get vegan certifications. Secondly, the seller should also understand about vegan materials, and be able to explain this to consumers. The education from the seller is vital and the meaning of logos and associated contents used by the label should be clearly explained to consumers. Thirdly, the association of consumers, and fashion brands should cooperate to enhance the level of general understanding in society further, this should influence new laws, that address ethical issues regarding the use of fur in fashion. Environmental problem of the future might be reduced if the stakeholders in Vegan Fashion are cooperatively and actively trying to educate the general population and make Vegan Fashion popular and ethical consumption popular.

  • 'ISO 37001 - Anti-bribery Management Systems, one of the Business Ethics of Global Standards, is a new standard to help organizations fight bribery and promote an ethical business culture which was developed in 2016. ISO 37001 can provide the tools and systems to greatly reduce the risk and help organizations deal with it effectively if it does arise. After enforcing the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act, Korean government standardized ISO 37001 harmonizing International Standards into Korean Industrial Standards (KS) in 2017. It is meaningful in that Korean companies have localized regulation which applies to global standard anti-bribery management systems. About 100 organizations have adopted ISO 37001 as in the first half of 2019. So far many side effects of other ISO certifications have been recognized. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the current status of ISO 37001 in Korea for effective operation and management. The primary purpose of this paper is to investigate the current status and problems of ISO 37001 in Korea. It can provide useful guidelines for improving ISO 37001 to manage bribe and corruption effectively.

  • This study was an exploratory research to classify the types of green fashion marketing of the fashion companies in South Korea and analyse the present cases of each type. To analyse the current cases of green fashion marketing strategies, we researched all sorts of newspapers, magazines, publications of fashion companies, and web sites from 2008 to 2009. As a result, we categorized 5 types of green fashion marketing as follows ; eco-friendly fabrics (natural fabrics, recycled fabrics, biodegradable fabrics), re-use or re-form(reuse after cleaning and/or repairing and reformation through transformation and combination of raw materials), green certifications(ISO 14001, GOTS, OES, etc.), eco-friendly management and operation, and green marketing promotions. Based on the results, we proposed the green marketing strategies for fashion companies to progress toward the proper direction of green marketing. First of all, companies should escape from the narrow view point limited to the product itself. Then they have to focus on developing and execution of sustainable merchandising, manufacturing, logistics, and waste strategies.

  • The purpose of this study is to find food safety approach in the Eco-label Chain of Custody(CoC) which is only focused to traceability. Because, consumers want to be assured the certified seafood comes from sustainable fishery as well as hygienic. In order to this approach, we used Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) method as belows. We first understood the CoC criteria for using pair-wise comparison and analyzed and selected each Eco-label certifications and standards. Second, we carried out a survey to the targeted standard Marine Stewardship Council(MSC) CoC auditors all over the world and analyzed the priorities of food safety approach to 4 principles and 12 criteria belong the MSC CoC Standard. As the results, we found out that 'Management System' has the highest priority in the principles and 'Documentation' and 'Keeping Record' are the most important criteria for this approach. In addition, 'Training' and 'Identification' are also higher priority of criteria. So, we suggested food safety approach method for improvement of these criteria in conclusion based on discussion with specialist in this field.

  • Portable ladders are normally used both as an access tool for ascending and descending and as a platform for high place work. Though convenient, such usages make the portable ladders vulnerable to fall accidents. For this reason, many safety systems such as regulations and certifications are implemented to prevent fall accidents of portable ladders. However, nevertheless of those safety systems in Korea, annual death tolls of ladder fall accidents has remained high, and which suggests modification and improvement of the portable ladder related safety systems in Korea. The aim of this study is to propose directions for improving safety systems to effectively prevent fall accidents of portable ladders. To this end, comparative analysis on safety systems implemented in Korea and other countries including Japan, USA and UK are conducted to investigate the problems of Korean safety systems. Based on the analysis, limitations of Korean safety systems to prevent ladder fall accidents are discussed and tasks to overcome the limitations are proposed. Once implemented, the proposed tasks would contribute to prevent ladder fall accidents effectively.

  • The rising penetration of renewable energy resulted in the development of grid-connected large-scale power plants. Therefore, grid stabilization, which depends on the system-type or grid of each country, plays an important role and has been strengthened by different grid codes. With this background, VDE-AR-N 4105 for photovoltaic (PV) systems connected to the low-voltage grid and the German Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW) introduced the medium-voltage grid code for connecting power plants to the grid and they are the most stringent certifications. In this paper, an optimal control strategy scheme for three-phase grid-connected PV system is enhanced with VDE-AR-N 4105 and BDEW grid code, where both active/reactive powers are controlled. Simulation and experimental results of 100kW PV inverter are shown to verify the effectiveness of the proposed implemental control strategy.

  • The primary objective of this research is to provide the basis of total quality management policies by reviewing previous studies which investigated effective ways to reduce product liability exposure. Specifically, the present study intends (1) to examine recent patterns and trends of product liability law in OECD countries, (2) to propose quality management policies for preventing product liability litigations, and (3) to guide the proper implementation process of ISO 9000 certification programs. The survey results show that the shift from a negligence law theory to strict liability is evident in most countries. The trend has led to make it easier for consumers to bring product liability lawsuits. Furthermore, the damage awards won by consumers have been drastically increasing. To minimize product liability exposure, manufactures should reflect comprehensive product safety concepts in establishing total quality management policies. Cooperative activities are also required between departments in companies to reach safe and satisfactory quality level. These quality management activities should be performed consistently during the total product life cycle. Failure to comply with the ISO 9000 certifications might be used as an evidence of negligence or as evidence of a design defect in court. Previous lawsuit cases, however, reveal that ISO 9001-9003 registration process alone is not sufficient in terms of product liability pervention perspectives. Therefore, manufactures should take into account ISO 9004 before implementing any other section of ISO 9000 standards.

  • School Crime Prevention Throgh Environmental Design (CPTED) is in the process of building a design guide through a lot of research. However, it is common practice to conduct consulting through existing cases and utilize internal self-evaluation through similar projects, as the self-evaluation criteria are not open to public or unlike other certifications. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to contribute to the development of a more quantitative and objective practical manual by analyzing the evaluation elements of school crime prevention environment design provided by guidelines and guidelines of various organizations and local autonomous bodies involved in school design. As a result of quantifying the school facilities CPTED indicators so far and incorporating the current guidelines, 'Surveillance and access control' of 'Entrance space and parking space' is found to be main. If the various indicators presented above are applied in consideration of the specificity of the school facilities in the application of the school CPTED technique, in addition to the CPTED for physically preventing offenses committed by outsiders, it can be expected to prevent violence among students or social crimes in school education.

  • This study has aimed to compare an emission trading system (ETS) in the EU and Japan that introduced the scheme prior to Korea and provided the latter with a benchmarking model. Especially, the EU has a reputation for its well-organized and evolving system, and Japan has also successfully established the system despite its similar condition with Korea, such as an industrial structure and the degree of energy dependence. However, there are noticeable differences between the EU and Japan in their ETS. Whereas Japan has focused on securing certifications in CDM as the implementation of Kyoto protocol, EU has shown a tendency to transform the trading market from a parallel structure of EUA and CER transaction to only the EUA transaction after ending of 1st commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol. Since the differences were mainly caused by not only in a design of the system but also in internal governance and their national circumstance, it is meaningful to analyse the Korean case with a similar framework. This study may contribute to designing an appropriate system for emission trading in Korea through the comparison of the EU and Japanese case.
