Interpersonal support, Tension in life changes & Life satisfaction in Urban Housewives (도시주부의 대인적 지지, 생활긴장감 및 만족도)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate interpersonal support, tension in lifechanges & satisfaction. The selected sample is composed of 387 housewives in ChongJoo city. SAS pc program was used for the statistical analysis of the data. Data was analyzed by frequency, F-test, percentage, mean, Duncan's Multiple Range Test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, Regression Analysis. Major findings as follows: 1)At wedding & funeral ceremony, kin networks of her parents & parents-in law side were variables to have influence on tension in life changes. And the number of social organization participated were a variable to have influence on the satisfaction. The age of couple, education of couple, duration of marriage, income, family lifecycle, the number of children, pattern of family were variables to influence tension in life changes, but were not variables to influence on the satisfaction. 2) At usual or wedding & funeral ceremony, kin networks of her parents side were variables to influence on instrumental & companionship support. And the number of friends was a variable to influence on companionship & informational support. The number of neighbors was a variable to influence on instrumental, companionship & informational support. The number of social organization participated was a variable to influence on companionship & emotional support. The age of couple, education of couple,income, duration of marriage, family life cycle, number of children, family size, family type were variables to influence on interpersonal support. 3)The relationship between tension and satisfaction in life changes was negative, and between instrumental support and satisfaction was negative also. But between companionship support and satisfaction was positive relationship and between tension of personal &social life and instrumental support was positive relationship. The relationship between tension of marriage life and companionship support was negative and between tension of family life and information support was negative relationships. The received companionship support was lower tension in life changes than not received it. But the received instrumental support was higher tension of personal & social life. The received companionship & informational support was higher satisfaction than not received them. But the received instrumental support was lower satisfaction than not received it. 4) Instrumental & companionship support, at usual kin network of her parents in taw side, at wedding & funeral ceremony kin network of her parents side,were variables to influence on tension in life changes. A Study on the Costumes of the Mongol Naadam Festival (몽골 나담축제 복식에 관한 연구)

  • This study revolves around the costume of the Naadam festival worn in the opening ceremony. during competition and the costume of the public. their purpose are two fold. First they are to be the main reference for the diverse Mongolian costumes that have been researched. Secondly, they will help us understand better the culture that revolves around Mongolian costumes. The results are as follows : 1) The opening ceremony costume, The opening ceremony starts with a procession of soldiers with 9 flags. The flags are made from the hairs of white horses and they signify peace and tranquility, ever since the beginning of Chinggis Khans time. The costumes resemble a European military uniform 2) The costumes for competition. $\circled1$ Wrestlers' costume comprises of a jacket with sleeves but no front and shorty shorts of red or blue colored silk, a traditional hat and traditional boots. $\circled2$ Archers' costume comprises of their traditional costume, deel, hat and boots. $\circled3$ Horse riders who are usually children wear a comfortable and simple jacket and pants. 3) The costume of the public : The general public that attended the festival were dressed in a western fashion but differ according to different age groups $\circled1$ The costumes of the younger Mongolian : The majority of the men wore traditional costumes that were appropriate to the festival, the women did not as they were more prone to the influence of fads of western cultures and dressed in a more daring fashion. In addition. the children also dressed in a more modem western fashion. $\circled2$ The costumes of the elderly Mongolian : The elderly, oblivious of whatever season it was, were dressed in a more traditional fashion which is the deel.

The Effect of Consumer Culture and Awareness on Wedding Ceremony between Parents and Children on the Preference of a Simple Wedding (자녀와 부모의 소비문화와 결혼식인식이 작은 결혼식 선호도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study investigates the effect of consumer culture and awareness of wedding ceremonies between parents and children as well as preference for a simple wedding in order to develop a simple wedding concept. The data for statistical analysis came from 375 of children 216 and parents 159. Data was analyzed with t -test, analysis of variance, exploratory factor analysis, Cronbach's $\alpha$ and regression analysis by SPSS ver. 18.0. The results were summarized as follows. First, children had a higher symbolic consumption than parents and parents had a higher functional consumption than children. Second, children prefer a discriminate and characteristic small wedding, while parents prefer an economical, meaningful and nonconforming simple wedding. The variables that effect parents simple wedding preferences were consumer culture, awareness of wedding ceremony, gender, and education; those of children were, consumer culture, awareness on wedding ceremony, gender, and age. Children had a functional and economical consumption focused on meaningfulness and rationale of the wedding, they prefer an economical meaningful small wedding. Children had functional consumption that prefers a discriminate characteristic small wedding and a nonconforming small wedding compared to men. Parents did not have symbolic consumption and focused on the meaningfulness and rationale of the wedding, they prefer an economical meaningful small wedding. Parents focused on the meaningfulness and rationale of the wedding; in addition women prefer a discriminate characteristic small wedding compared to men. Parents had functional consumption and focused on the meaningfulness and rationale of the wedding with a preference for a nonconforming small wedding.

A Study on Rural Adults' Awareness of Marriage (농촌 성인남녀의 결혼에 대한 의식 분석)

  • The objective of this study were to explore rural adults' awareness of marriage. The data were collected from 369 adults 20 aged and over living in the rural and analysed by marital status and sex, using SPSS/win program. The major finding of this study were as follows; 1) In the mate selection, rural adults valued personality(41.9%) above everything else without difference in sex or marital status. However, while most of unmarried women preferred white collar worker, educated in the college and over, and $1{\sim}4$ older than them, most of married and unmarried men preferred housewives, educated in the high school, and $3{\sim}4$ younger than them. Also, women wanted to live in the urban after the marriage. 2) In connection with wedding ceremony, most of rural adults preferred modern wedding ceremony, appropriately within their circumstance, and general ceremony hall except the unmarried women. 3) Only 45.9% of unmarried women agreed to marriage compared to 74.5% of unmarried men. The unmarried, especially unmarried women, liked more than the married to love marriage. 4) Rural women have more modern attitude toward the marriage than rural men.

A Study on Proposals of Preservation and Application Wedding Gyubang Crafts (혼례용 규방공예의 보존 및 응용 방안 제안에 관한 연구)

  • Korean traditional wedding ceremony was conducted with some regular procedure and there were used special Gyubang crafts for wedding ceremony. Nowadays there is common the western style wedding ceremony and then the use of wedding Gyubang crafts have being decreased. Purposes of this study are to investigate characteristics of and to propose some idea of preservation and application them in the life of today. The results are as follows; Wedding Gyubang crafts can be classified Bojagj(wrapping clothes), Jumeony(cloth bags), ornaments, items related to sewing and others. They were apt to be traditionality, symbolism and shamanism, and were superior in aesthetic sense, the effect of decoration and technical skill. So there was needed preservation them. Some way of preservation and applications them were suggested ; alternation in keeping with modern needs, use of ornament, alteration in present-day life, application their image to Korean cultural products, textile design and so on. Several works were developed by ways suggested and exhibited in order to arouse new understanding Wedding Gyubang Crafts to public.

Effects of Traditional Minds on Housing of the Middle-aged on Residential Demands for the Elderl Life (중년층의 주거의식에 내재된 전통성 요인이 노후 주거환경 요구에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to develope a housing suitable for the Korean elderly by analyzing traditional minds on housing of the middle-aged. Data were collected by the questionnaire from 696 middle-aged in 40's and 50's living in Chinju area. Collected data were analyzed by using statistical methods of One-Way MANOVA, scheffe's test, and multiple regression analysis which were processed with SAS. Following are results. 1) Middle aged people had four main traditional factors in their minds: a propensity toward traditional indoor atmosphere, traditional housing space, traditional housing value and ceremony space & traditional life style. 2) Socio-demographically, a propensity toward traditional housing space and ceremony space & traditional life style were significantly different between sexes, but not by educational level and income. A propensity toward traditional indoor atmosphere and ceremony space & traditional life style were different between housing types. 3) However, there were a significant difference between variables such as sex, educational level, income and housing type in residential demands for the elderly life. 4) Sex, housing type, a propensity toward traditional housing space and traditional housing value influenced residential demands for the elderly life I indoor and outdoor environments, nearby facilities and available services all of which were minor items in the demand for the elderly life.

The Study on Consciousness and Attitude about Wedding Ceremony of Wedding Vender (예식업 종사자의 전통혼례에 대한 의식과 태도 연구)

  • This study based on Sa rye pyun ram(四禮便覽) by Lee Jae which are Chosun Dynasty book about the rules in a wedding ceremony. And the research examine into the understand how to the procedure, the true meanings about korea traditional wedding and general opinion of wedding custom. The instrument is the questionnaires, which is analyzed finally through data processing with 129 of wedding venders. The data analyze by making use of SPSS program were frequency analysis, ANOVA, $x^2$-test, pearson's correlation analysis. The summary of a result is as follows. First, the wedding awareness of wedding venders about Eou hon(議婚) is on a high level but Nab chae(納采) is low. Second, wedding venders are knowing with "Hon suh ji(letter), four season cloth, blue-red satin, shell goods" in a Nab peau(納幣) and with "jujube, beef, chicken, Gu jel pan(accompaniment to a drink), alcohol in a Peau back(幣帛). Third, wedding venders are answered that acceded to "Peau back" and "traditional wedding ceremony' but needed no "gifts & cloths for wedding". Forth, the understanding of wedding procedure (婚禮節次) is on a low, especially Bon ray(本禮).

  • Indonesian dietary life in relation to tradition, customs, variety of food, condiments and spices, processing food and religious way of ceremony was studied through reference books and field trips. The result obtained are as follows: 1. Indonesian food life style has been influenced not only by foreign countries like India, China, Arab and Western countries but also religious commandments of Islamism, Hindusim and Budhism. 2. Indonesia has a wide territory and consist of many islands. Therefore, various food life style can be found in every regional areas. Modern westernized style as well as traditional style coexist together. 3. Chinese has influenced Indonesian food life as well as that of Koreans especially in soy sauce and rice cake. 4. Various type of steamed rice by adding other ingredients can be found in daily life and religious ceremony. 5. Coconut milk, raw spices, pepper are widely & exessively used in cooking and Tempe (soya bean cake) is one of the major protein sources in Indonesia. 6. In religious ceremony, SELAMATAN, various kind and shape of food with different colors symbolize the desire of those who contribute.

  • To examine the royal party procedures of Chosun-Dynasty, the authors analyzed“Jin Chan Eui Gue”, which is a historical record, published in 1887(King Go-Jong), on the party of royal family in the Man Kyong Jeon. The results obtained from the study were as follows. 1. The Main party and the evening party in the Man Kyong Jeon were the drinking ceremony in celebration of eigthieth birthday of the King Go-Jong's grandmother. 2. The following day party and the following evening party in the Man Kyong Jeon were the drinking ceremony for wishing the King Go-Jong good health. 3. The next following day party and the next following evening party in the Man Kyong Jeon were the drinking ceremony for wishing the Crown Prince good health. 4. In the following day party and the next following day party, there were procedures distributing flowers among the attendants. 5. A lot of flowers were used in the royal party of Man Kyong Jeon:Distributed flowers(1550), Dining table flowers(5519), Table flowers(2) ad Neckwear flowers(7015).

  • in the late 14th century, korean confucian literati, sinjinsadaebe(新進士大夫), tried to reform korean society in the base of neo confucianism. after Joseon Founding, korean confucian literati modified a lot of confucian ceremonies in order to substitute buddhist ceremonies. at first, they titled confucian ceremonies as "gyu sik(regulation manuals)", "Eui mun(ceremonial manuals)", and "Eui je(ceremonial manuals)". but in the end, they titled confucian ceremonies as "Eui gwe(Ritual Protocol Manuals)". they also titled the reports on national occasions as "Eui gwe(Ritual Protocol Manuals)". among the confucian reforms, the most important reforms were auspicious ceremony. korean confucian literati tried to make perfect confucian auspicious ceremony. the first national achievement by confucian reformers was the five national rituals in annals of king sejong. and the second national achievement by confucian reformers was the five national rituals. the royal cart regulated in the five national rituals in annals of king sejong was cart decorated by ivory. but the royal cart regulated in the five national rituals was the sedan with cover. the reason of the change of royal cart were king sejo's political showmanship and diplomatic pretext toward ming(明) china. after the publishment of the five national rituals, the royal cart was represented by the sedan with cover.
