Preparation and Properties of Autoxidation Drying Type Waterborne Coatings Containing Bentonite (벤토나이트가 포함된 자동산화 건조형 수성코팅제의 제조 및 특성)

  • Four different composition of autoxidation drying type waterborne coatings (WBC-1, WBC-2, WBC-3, WBC-4) were prepared by the compounding of bentonite (BEN) as a water swellable clay and organometallic soaps as a drier with acrylic binder and coating additives. The solution viscosity, solid content, rheological properties and drying rate of WBCs were investigated. Also the thermal stability, the transmittance and the water-resistance of the films casted by WBCs were measured, and the surface topology of WBC films were investigated by the scanning probe microscopy. As WBC-2, WBC-3 and WBC-4 containing BEN showed the thixotropy with the shear rate, the storage stability of WBC was a excellent. When the driers was mixed in the ratio of Mn/Zn/Ba=1/2/3, the dry ability of WBCs showed maximum as 5.0 sec at 60$\^{C}$. The initial decomposition temperature and the transmittance of WBC films containing BEN increased in range of 32.2∼54.7$\^{C}$ and 5.1∼8.6% than the commercial WBC (MC-21W), respectively. Annealing Temperature Dependence on Anodizing Properties of ZrO2/Al Films Prepared by Sol-gel Method (졸-겔법으로 제조된 ZrO2/Al막의 열처리 온도에 따른 양극산화 특성)

  • Anodic oxide films on aluminum play an important role as a dielectrics in aluminum electrolytic capacitor. In order to obtain the high capacitance, ZrO$_2$ films were coated on aluminum foils by sol-gel method and then, the properties of anodized films were studied. The coating and drying of the films were repeated 4-10 times and annealed at 300~$600^{\circ}C$ and the triple layer of ZrO$_2$/Al-ZrO$_{x}$ /Al$_2$O$_3$ was formed onto aluminum substrates after anodizing of ZrO$_2$/Al film. The thickness of $Al_2$O$_3$ layer was decreased with increasing the annealing temperature due to the densification of ZrO$_2$ film. The ZrO$_2$ films were crystallized even at 30$0^{\circ}C$ and showed nanocrystalline structure. The. capacitance of aluminum foil annealed at low temperature was higher than that at high temperature. The increase of capacitance was due to the high capacitance of ZrO$_2$ film annealed at low temperature. The capacitance of ZrO$_2$ coated aluminum increased about 3 times compared to that without a ZrO$_2$ layer after anodizing to 400 V. From these results, the aluminum foils with composite oxide layers are found to be applicable to the aluminum electrolytic capacitor.

A Study on the Optimization of Active Material and Preparation of Granular Adsorbent of Metal Oxide-based Adsorbent for Adsorption of Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) (황화수소(H2S) 흡착을 위한 금속산화물 기반 흡착제의 활성물질 최적화 및 입상형 흡착제 제조에 대한 연구)

  • In this study, the optimization of active materials and the preparation of particulate adsorbents for the application of metal oxide-based adsorbents for the treatment of $H_2S$, an air pollutant and odorant, occurred in various industrial facilities were investigated. The adsorbents were prepared by using $TiO_2$, which has a high physicochemical stability and relatively high specific surface area among metal oxides and also by different kinds and contents of active materials. The correlation between the physicochemical property and adsorption performance of the adsorbents confirmed that the adsorbent containing KI, which is a typical alkali metal among the active metals, showed the highest adsorption performance. The relationship between the contents and the adsorption performance was non-proportional, but a volcano plot. From XRD, SEM and BET analyses, it was confirmed that the active material was exposed to the surface above a certain amount and also the adsorption performance was the best when the specific surface area and pore volume were $40{\sim}100m^2/g$ and $0.1{\sim}0.3cm^3/g$, respectively. For practical application, the adsorbent was granulated or coated on a ceramic support. It was also confirmed that the adsorbent showed high adsorption performance when the adsorbent was coated on the ceramic rather than that of the granulated support.

Characteristics of (Sr,Ti)-doped $LaCrO_3$ Coating Layer for Ceramic Interconnect of Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (고체산화물 연료전지용 (Sr,Ti) 도핑된 $LaCrO_3$계 세라믹 연결재 코팅층의 특성 연구)

  • 고전도성 세라믹 연결재용 $La_{0.8}Sr_{0.2}Cr_{1-x}Ti_xO_3$ (X=0.1 and 0.2) 연결재 재료의 소결도와 전기전도도에 대해서 연구하였다. 이러한 목적으로 $LaCrO_3$, $La_{0.8}Sr_{0.2}Cr_{0.8}Ti_{0.2}O_3$ (LSCT82), $La_{0.8}Sr_{0.2}Cr_{0.9}Ti_{0.1}O_3$ (LSCT91) 분말들을 공침법을 통해 합성하였으며, 결정구조는 X-ray Diffraction(XRD)를 통해 확인하였다. 소결 특성은 주사 전자현미경을 통해 분석하였고 전기 전도도는 직렬 4-단자 법으로 측정하였다. 상대 밀도 분석으로부터 도핑된 $LaCrO_3$$LaCrO_3$보다 더 높은 소결성을 나타내었고, 입자 크기가 작을수록 소결성이 향상하는 것을 확인 할 수 있었다. 다양한 소결온도에서 얻은 LSC, LSTC 시편들의 XRD 결과는 LSC와 LSTC의 소결성이 2차상의 상전이와 밀접한 관련이 있다는 사실을 나타내었다. 다시 말해, LSTC는 $1300^{\circ}$이상 LSC는 $1400^{\circ}C$ 이상에서 2차상이 융해됨으로써 소결성을 현저하게 향상시킨다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 비슷한 상대밀도를 가진 LSC와 LSTC의 전기 전도도를 비교 측정한 결과, LSTC가 LSC보다 더 높은 전기 전도도를 나타낸다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

Fabrication and Stability of Pd Coated Ta/YSZ Cermet Membrane for Hydrogen Separation (Pd 코팅된 Ta/YSZ 수소분리막의 제조 및 안정성)

  • Cermet membrane was fabricated with tantalum as hydrogen-permeable metal and $Y_2O_3$-stabilized $ZrO_2$ (YSZ) as ceramic supporter. Ta/YSZ cermet membrane was prepared through pre-sintering in He atmosphere and then main sintering under high vacuum and the impurities to originate from sintering and brazing could be removed by mechanical polishing. As-prepared membrane showed dense structure with continuous channel of tantalum. Hydrogen permeation experiment was conducted in the region of $200{\sim}350^{\circ}C$ using Ta/YSZ membrane coated with Pd for hydrogen dissociation. The crack in membrane was formed at $300^{\circ}C$ and the Pd coating layer has flaked off in spots. XRD results showed that tantalum reacted with hydrogen to form $Ta_2H$. The lattice expansion by $Ta_2H$ caused deterioration for membrane.

Low Temperature Sintering of BNKT Lead-Free Piezoelectric Ceramics Using CuO-Coated Na0.5Bi4.5Ti4O15 Templates (산화구리가 피복된 Na0.5Bi4.5Ti4O15 틀입자를 이용한 BNKT 무연 압전 세라믹스의 저온소성 연구)

  • This study investigated the low temperature sintering with various templates of Bi-based lead-free piezoelectric ceramics. The effects of using CuO-coated Na0.5Bi4.5Ti4O15 templates on the sintering behavior as well as the dielectric, ferroelectric, and piezoelectric properties of Bi1/2(Na0.78K0.22)1/2TiO3 (BNKT) ceramics have been examined. In comparison with the specimens sintered with the Na0.5Bi4.5Ti4O15 templates without CuO coating, those sintered with the CuO-coated Na0.5Bi4.5Ti4O15 templates showed larger template sizes as well as a larger electric field induced strain (Smax/Emax) of 422 pm/V after sintering at temperatures as low as 975℃. These results are promising for low-cost multilayer ceramic actuator applications.

Research of Oyster Shell Recycled Coating Material and its Application to Filter Bed (굴껍질을 재활용한 코팅제의 여과지 코팅 성능평가에 관한 연구)

  • 현재 남해안 굴양식산업은 어업인들의 중요한 소득원이 되고 있으나, 굴양식장에서 발생되는 굴패각은 처리곤란 및 악취발생으로 인해 또 다른 해양오염원으로 그 문제성이 심각하게 대두되고 있는 실정이다. 굴양식장에서 연간 약 28~30만여톤의 굴패각이 발생되고 있으며, 그 중 10~20%는 종패부착용이나 비료로 재활용되고 있고, 80~90%는 매립되거나 야적 방치된다고 보고되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 굴패각을 재활용하고자 굴껍질의 성분분석을 실시하여 나노고분자세라믹 코팅제의 세라믹 소재로써의 적용 가능성여부를 확인하였고, 경기도 P정수장 내 여과지 콘크리트 벽면에 코팅처리하여 그 성능을 확인하였다. 그 결과 패각의 굴껍질은 90%이상이 탄산칼슘($CaCO_3$)로 이루어져 있었으며, 굴껍질을 재활용한 나노고분자세라믹 코팅제는 pH 7.5~8.5로서 일반수도를 측정한 pH 7.3~7.8과 유사한 결과를 보였다. 또한, 나노고분자세라믹 코팅제의 콘크리트 벽면에 대한 부착강도는 한국산업규격에 제시된 폴리머의 방수재료 부착강도인 8~10(kg.f/$cm^2$)이상의 값이 나타남에 따라 패각의 굴껍질을 재활용한 나노고분자세라믹 코팅제의 경기도 P정수장 내 여과지 콘크리트 벽면 코팅제로써 적용이 가능한 것으로 확인 되었다.

  • Glass films of $SiO_2-TiO_2-M_xO_y$ (M = Co, Cr or Cu) have been prepared on soda-lime-silica slide glasses by the chemical solution method using a spin-coating technique. Commercially available tetraethyl orthosilicate, titanium trichloride, and cobalt-, chromium- and copper-nitrates were used as starting materials. No crystalline segregations of $Co_3O_4$, $Cr_2O_3$ and CuO were observed by X-ray diffraction ${\theta}-2{\theta}$ scans. From the optical transmission analysis, cobalt existed as $ Co^{2+}$ in tetrahedral coordination, chromium as $Cr^{6+}$ in tetrahedral symmetry and copper as $Cu^{2+}$ in octahedral coordination. Films with a crack-free and no texture exhibited homogeneous interfaces between the films and the substrates along the cross-section.

The Preparation and the Gas Permeation Characteristics of the Soluble Polyimides (용해성 폴리이미드의 제조 및 기체투과특성)

  • The soluble polyimides(PMDA/diamine/dianhydride) were prepared and investigated. After coating the prepared PMDA/diamine/dianhydride solution into the commercial tubular alumina ceramic membranes, gas permeation characteristics was investigated. $T_g{\prime}s$ of the polyimides were in the range of $337{\sim}358^{\circ}C$ and thermal stability was good. The polymer was soluble in NMP, DMAc, DMSO, THF, and m-cresol. The adhesion between the alumina membrane and the soluble polyimide was excellent. The soluble polyimide/alumina membranes containing 6FDA showed the highest permeability among others. The permeability of nitrogen of PMDA/1,3PDA/6FDA-alumina membrane was about $7.6{\times}10^{-7}(mol/m^2{\cdot}Pa{\cdot}s)$ in the gas permeation experiments. The ideal separation factor of $O_2/N_2$ and $H_2/N_2$ in PMDA/1,3PDA/6FDA-alumina membrane were 6.19, and 70.0, respectively.

Fabrication and microstructure of the Fe doped $TiO_{2}$ composite membranes with ultrafine pores (미세기공을 가지는 철이 첨가된 티타니아 복합여과막 제조 및 미세구조)

  • Ceramic membrane consisting of an ${\alpha}-Al_{2}O_{3}$ support and Fe doped $TiO_{2}$ top layer was prepared by the sol-gel method. The supported Fe doped $TiO_{2}$ top layer was made by dip coating the support in a mixed sol. The microstructure of the composite membranes was studied by SEM after calcination at $550~850^{\circ}C$. After sintering at $650^{\circ}C$ for 1 hr., the average particle diameter of the Fe doped $TiO_{2}$ top layer was ~40 nm. The supported Fe doped $TiO_{2}$ composite membranes exhibited much higher heat resistance than the $TiO_{2}$ membrane. The Fe doped $TiO_{2}$ composite membrane retained a crack-free microstructure and narrow particle size distribution even after calcination up to $650^{\circ}C$.
