  • In this paper, a classification method of random graph models is proposed and it is based on centralities of the random graphs. Similarity between two random graphs is measured for the classification of random graph models. The similarity between two random graph models $G^{R_1}$ and $G^{R_2}$ is defined by the distance of $G^{R_1}$ and $G^{R_2}$, where $G^{R_2}$ is a set of random graph $G^{R_2}=\{G_1^{R_2},...,G_p^{R_2}\}$ that have the same number of nodes and edges as random graph $G^{R_1}$. The distance($G^{R_1},G^{R_2}$) is obtained by comparing centralities of $G^{R_1}$ and $G^{R_2}$. Through the computational experiments, we show that it is possible to compare random graph models regardless of the number of vertices or edges of the random graphs. Also, it is possible to identify and classify the properties of the random graph models by measuring and comparing similarities between random graph models.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out how college students overseas field trip group's social network exist, how the network change during the travel period, and how they are related to trip satisfaction, school involvement and peer relations. College students have an unprecedented school adaptation problem, which is questioning college education practices and measure should be taken. Since travel provides a strong bond with the group of participants, in a similar vein, students' overseas trips are also assumed to strengthen solidarity of students. For 31 trip participants, survey was administered to find out the existence of a distinctive network structure, its changes, and its impact on related variables. First, the network structure of the field trip existed explicitly, in which student representatives held their position in degree centrality. Second, network structure has changed before and after the trip, which is due to the social interaction between participants. Third, the effect on trip performance variables was marginal, even if some participants move to centrality. Forth, field trip satisfaction, school involvement, and peer relations were significant correlated. At the end of the paper, the implications and limitations of the study were included.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to decide the additional edges in order to integrate two communitites A,B($${\mid}A{\mid}{\geq_-}{\mid}B{\mid}$$, ${\mid}{\cdot}{\mid}$ is the size of the set). The proposed algorithm uses a fitness function that shows the property of a community and the fitness function is defined by the number of edges which exist in the community and connect two nodes, one is in the community and the other is out of the community. The community has a strong property when the function has a large value. The proposed algorithm is a kind of greedy method and when a node of B is merged to A, the minimum number of additional edges is decided to increase the fitness function value of A. After determining the number of additional edges, we define the community connectivity measures using the node centrality to determine the edges locations. The connections of the new edges are fixed to maximize the connectivity measure of the combined community. The procedure is applied for all nodes in B to integrate A and B. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is shown by solving the Zachary Karate Club network.

  • Much Interest has focused on social network services such as Facebook and Twitter. Previous research conducted on social network often emphasized the architecture of the social network that is the existence of path between any objects on network and the centrality of the object in the network. However, studies on the semantic association in the network are rare. Studies on searching semantic associations between entities are necessary for future business enhancements. In this research, the ontology based social network analysis is performed. A new method to search and rank relation sequences that consist of several relations between entities is proposed. In addition, several heuristics to measure the strength of the relation sequences are proposed. To evaluate the proposed method, an experiment was performed. A group of social relationships among the university and organizations are constructed. Some social connections are searched using the proposed ranking method. The proposed method is expected to be used to search the association among entities in ontology based knowledge base.

  • This study aims to understand characteristics and roles of community media in Seoul to discuss the meanings of the media. Community media is constructed based upon the networks of relations of community participants, whose characteristic relations of participants within the network determines the roles and meanings of the media for the community. Research have shown that community media's unique open, participatory, and horizontal communicative structures enable to realize such objects. For this study, we chose Mapo FM to conduct case study based upon network analysis of 'participant network' of the media. In particular, we tried to measure the density and centrality of the network, which can explain the relational characteristics of the networks of the media. In addition, we also conducted in-depth interviews of participants to better understand the problems and meanings of the community media. The findings suggest that unlike the conceptual and theoretical assumptions, the community media under the study lacks of open, participatory, and horizontal ways of participation in the media.

  • Objectives: The community network is a foundation laid by the local community which has been formed historically and geographically to develop itself. This paper as a Korean way of healthy network survey for the community capacity building is an exploratory research to grasp the character of Korean society and then to organize an resident-governing partnership for that. Methods: Research objectives are CBOs(Community-Based Organizations) in S-district of Seoul. This region is a new town, however the solidarity and volunteerism of this resident is lively. The survey tool is Cho's CBOs Evaluation Questionnaire which was originated to measure the community capacity. The period of survey is from the January 2009 to the March 2009 and the study organizations which were collected by snowball sampling were 80. Results: The result shows two main networks: one is the civil society and craft union cluster, the other is welfare organization cluster. Groups of high centrality were organizations whose members are mainly women and craft organizations which were organized before 1990's. The group of high betweenness was the Association of Women's Organizations(0.188). Bi-components were six and they could be divided by organization's aim. In terms of the determinants of the participation to the health center enterprise, only the number of link(B=-0.60, p<0.04) was statistically significant. It means that when organization variables are controlled a tendency appears: the more the voluntary associations network, the less participation in the health enterprise. Conclusion: CBHOs(Community-Based Health Organizations) enhances residents' spontaneity and cohesion to increase the capability of the local community. If the surveyed healthy network, together the community health project, are used for various community development projects, the existing CBOs including CBHOs will be reorganized and furthered newly. For this it will be needed to construct an effective partnership of healthy network by restructuring the existing networks of voluntary associations.

  • Citation frequency is an important factor in evaluating journal quality and is used as a measure of journal impact. The citation index of a paper plays an important role in linking papers with groups of other academic papers, forming a huge and complex network. This study examines the intellectual structure of apparel research through the bibliometric citation analysis of The Research Journal of the Costume Culture (RJCC). In order to analyze the changes in the intellectual structure of the RJCC, we used the Korea Citation Index's (KCI) data (highly citing journals and highly cited journals). The NodeXL, a social network analysis tool, was used to examine the connection structure between journals. In order to identify the academic influence of the RJCC, we used the KCI journal citation index. Our findings indicate that the RJCC has a high centrality index among the clothing-oriented journals in the same life sciences field. A look at the journals citing the RJCC and the journals cited within the RJCC also showed that more journals of diverse fields have been recently linked through their citations. This suggests that a convergence of interdisciplinary research is underway in the field of clothing. As a result of examining international journals cited in the RJCC, it was confirmed that they were cited in prominent international journals in various fields.

  • The global spread of COVID-19 around the world has not only affected many parts of our daily life but also has a huge impact on many areas, including the economy and society. As the number of confirmed cases and deaths increases, medical staff and the public are said to be experiencing psychological problems such as anxiety, depression, and stress. The collective tragedy that accompanies the epidemic raises fear and anxiety, which is known to cause enormous disruptions to the behavior and psychological well-being of many. Long-term negative emotions can reduce people's immunity and destroy their physical balance, so it is essential to understand the psychological state of COVID-19. This study suggests a method of monitoring medial news reflecting current days which requires striving not only for physical but also for psychological quarantine in the prolonged COVID-19 situation. Moreover, it is presented how an easier method of analyzing social media networks applies to those cases. The aim of this study is to assist health policymakers in fast and complex decision-making processes. News plays a major role in setting the policy agenda. Among various major media, news headlines are considered important in the field of communication science as a summary of the core content that the media wants to convey to the audiences who read it. News data used in this study was easily collected using "Bigkinds" that is created by integrating big data technology. With the collected news data, keywords were classified through text mining, and the relationship between words was visualized through semantic network analysis between keywords. Using the KrKwic program, a Korean semantic network analysis tool, text mining was performed and the frequency of words was calculated to easily identify keywords. The frequency of words appearing in keywords of articles related to COVID-19 emotions was checked and visualized in word cloud 'China', 'anxiety', 'situation', 'mind', 'social', and 'health' appeared high in relation to the emotions of COVID-19. In addition, UCINET, a specialized social network analysis program, was used to analyze connection centrality and cluster analysis, and a method of visualizing a graph using Net Draw was performed. As a result of analyzing the connection centrality between each data, it was found that the most central keywords in the keyword-centric network were 'psychology', 'COVID-19', 'blue', and 'anxiety'. The network of frequency of co-occurrence among the keywords appearing in the headlines of the news was visualized as a graph. The thickness of the line on the graph is proportional to the frequency of co-occurrence, and if the frequency of two words appearing at the same time is high, it is indicated by a thick line. It can be seen that the 'COVID-blue' pair is displayed in the boldest, and the 'COVID-emotion' and 'COVID-anxiety' pairs are displayed with a relatively thick line. 'Blue' related to COVID-19 is a word that means depression, and it was confirmed that COVID-19 and depression are keywords that should be of interest now. The research methodology used in this study has the convenience of being able to quickly measure social phenomena and changes while reducing costs. In this study, by analyzing news headlines, we were able to identify people's feelings and perceptions on issues related to COVID-19 depression, and identify the main agendas to be analyzed by deriving important keywords. By presenting and visualizing the subject and important keywords related to the COVID-19 emotion at a time, medical policy managers will be able to be provided a variety of perspectives when identifying and researching the regarding phenomenon. It is expected that it can help to use it as basic data for support, treatment and service development for psychological quarantine issues related to COVID-19.

  • The purpose of this study was to translate and validate the Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Identity Scale(LGBIS), which is a scale measuring the multidimensional identities of sexual minorities. For this, we conducted an exploratory factor analysis using a sample of 201 LGBs(homosexuals and bisexuals). Identical to the original scale, eight factors were extracted from the translated scale(i.e., concealment motivation, identity uncertainty, internalized homonegativity, difficult process, acceptance concerns, identity superiority, identity centrality, and identity affirmation), but one item was removed. In addition, the reliability coefficients of the eight factors except for concealment Motivation were satisfactory. The Confirmatory factor analysis revealed that the 8-factor model had a good fit to the data. Finally, to verify the criterion validity, correlation among each eight factor and the scales measuring the identity related scale and the psychological-functioning scale were analyzed. In conclusion, the Korean version of the LGBIS consists of 8 factors and 26 items in total. Also it was found to be a valid measure for LGBS in Korea as well.
