급성기 뇌경색 환자에 있어 변증형별 유의한 임상지표의 분석 (Analysis of Clinical Indicators related to Pattern-Identification in Acute Cerebral Infarction Patient)

  • Object : The aim of this study was to assess the clinical indicators related to Pattern-Identification(PI) in acute cerebral infarction patients. Methods : We studied hospitalized patients within 30days after ictus, who admitted at Korean Medicine Center of Kyung-Hee University from January 2010 to October 2012.(n=290) Two Traditional Korean Medicine(TKM) physicians evaluated the patients independently and diagnosed PI. Inter-rater reliability was measured using simple percentage agreement and the Cohen's kappa(κ) coefficient. To assess the clinical indicators closely related to each PI, we analysed average score of each indicator in each group. Results : Simple percentage agreement of PI between raters was 64.83% and Cohen's kappa(κ) coefficient was 0.526(95% CI: 0.451-0.600). Inter-rater reliability level was fair to good. We analysed the clinical indicators in each group. Significant indicators for Fire-Heat Pattern(FHP) were reddened complexion and strong pulse power, and meaningful indicators for FHP were halitosis and thick tongue fur. Significant indicator for Dampness-Phlegm Pattern(DPP) was overweight and there was no meaningful indicator. Significant indicator for Yin-Deficiency Pattern(YDP) was dry tongue fur and meaningful indicator for YDP was thirst. There was no significant indicator for Qi-Deficiency Pattern(QDP) and pale complexion and faint low voice were meaningful indicators for QDP. Conclusions : This study reveals the significant and meaningful clinical indicators related to each Pattern-Identification in acute cerebral infarction patients. It will contribute to standardization of Korean Medical Diagnosis and Treatment in acute cerebral infarction patients.

A study on an identification procedure for control of nonlinear plants using neural networks

  • A new learning method of both NNI and NNC by which the NNI identifies precisely the dynamic characteristics of the plant is proposed. For control of ihe nonlinear plant we use two neural networks, one -for identification and the other for control. We define a closed loop en-or which depends on identification and control error. In the proposed learning method, the closed loop en-or is utilized to train the NNI and the NNC. Computer simulation results reveal that the NNC based on proposed method is insensitive to variations of the plant parameters.

CONVIRT: A web-based tool for transcriptional regulatory site identification using a conserved virtual chromosome

  • Techniques for analyzing protein-DNA interactions on a genome-wide scale have recently established regulatory roles for distal enhancers. However, the large sizes of higher eukaryotic genomes have made identification of these elements difficult. Information regarding sequence conservation, exon annotation and repetitive regions can be used to reduce the size of the search region. However, previously developed resources are inadequate for consolidating such information. CONVIRT is a web resource for the identification of transcription factor binding sites and also features comparative genomics. Genomic information on ortholog-independent conserved regions, exons, repeats and sequences is integrated into the virtual chromosome, and statistically over-represented single or combinations of transcription factor binding sites are sought. CONVIRT provides regulatory network analysis for several organisms with long promoter regions and permits inter-species genome alignments. CONVIRT is freely available at http://biosoft.kaist.ac.kr/convirt.

  • Numerical identification was carried out for an isolate of Streptomyces D2-5 producing a new restriction endonuclease Svi I. Fifty taxonomic unit characters were tested and the data were analyzed numerically using the TAXON program. The isolate was best matched to Streptomyces violochromogenes in the major cluster 18 of Streptomyces. Therefore, it was concluded that the isolate was identified to be a member of Streptomyces violochromogenes.

  • The introduction of molecular markers in genetic analysis has revolutionized medicine. These molecular markers are genetic variations associated with a predisposition to common diseases and individual variations in drug responses. Identification and genotyping a vast number of genetic polymorphisms in large populations are increasingly important for disease gene identification, pharmacogenetics and population-based studies. Among variations being analyzed, single nucleotide polymorphisms seem to be most useful in large-scale genetic analysis. This review discusses approaches for genetic analysis, use of different markers, and emerging technologies for large-scale genetic analysis where millions of genotyping need to be performed.

  • The 610 m high Canton Tower (formerly named Guangzhou New Television Tower) is currently considered as a benchmark problem for structural health monitoring (SHM) of high-rise slender structures. In the benchmark study task I, a set of 24-hour ambient vibration measurement data has been available for the output-only system identification study. In this paper, the vector autoregressive models (ARV) method is adopted in the operational modal analysis (OMA) for this TV tower. The identified natural frequencies, damping ratios and mode shapes are presented and compared with the available results from some other research groups which used different methods, e.g., the data-driven stochastic subspace identification (SSI-DATA) method, the enhanced frequency domain decomposition (EFDD) algorithm, and an improved modal identification method based on NExT-ERA technique. Furthermore, the environmental effects on the estimated modal parameters are also discussed.

  • This paper discusses Self-organized Distributed Networks(SODN) as identifier of nonlinear dynamical systems. The structure of system identification employs series-parallel model. The identification procedure is based on a discrete-time formulation. The learning with the proposed SODN is fast and precise. Such properties arc caused from the local learning mechanism. Each local networks learns only data in a subregion. Large number of memory requirements and low generalization capability for the untrained region, which are drawbacks of conventional local network learning, are overcomed in the SODN. Through extensive simulation, SODN is shown to be effective for identification of nonlinear dynamical systems.

  • The authors have recently developed a method for identification of Volterra kernels of nonlinear systems by using M-sequence and correlation technique. In this paper, we apply the proposed method to identification of a robot manipulator which has two degrees of freedom. From the results of the experiment, the nonlinear characteristics of the robot manipulator can be identified by the proposed method.

Effects of Insamsansa-eum (Renshenshanzha-yin) on Hypercholesterolemia and Analysis of Its Effects according to the Pattern Identification

  • Backgrounds : Hyperlipidemia is a major cause of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Lowering serum cholesterol levels could reduce the risk of CVD. Insamsansa-eum (Renshenshanzha-yin, ISE), composed of Ginseng Radix and Crataegii Fructus, is a new medicine developed to treat hyperlipidemia and CVD. Objectives : In this study, we intended to explore the clinical effects of ISE on patients with hypercholesterolemia, and moreover we also compared its effects according to the pattern identification. Methods : Subjects were administered ISE with the dose of 600 mg three times a day for 4 weeks. Patterns of subjects were identified with diagnostic scoring system for Yin-Yang and the condition of Excess-Deficiency before treatment. Serum lipids were measured at baseline and after 4 weeks of medication. Results : ISE lowered total cholesterol(TC), triglyceride(TG), total lipid(TL), phospholipid(PL) and low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL) significantly. Compared with the data of our previous study, it was less effective than Atorvastatin but showed equal lipids-lowering effect to Chunghyul-dan (Qingxue-dan, CHD). In Yang pattern group, ISE was less effective in lowering TG and LDL than it was in not-Yang-not-Yinpattern group. On safety assessment, there was no adverse effect, hepatic or renal toxicity. Conclusions : We suggest that ISE is a safe and useful herbal medicine for hypercholesterolemia, and moreover it could be more useful when it is used for patients with not Yang pattern.
