This study aimed to conduct the basic analysis on the fractal characteristics of cementitious materials. The pore structure of cement paste incorporating ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS) was measured using mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP) and the fractal characteristics were investigated using different models. Because the pore structure of GGBFS-blended cement paste is an irregular system in the various range from nanometer to millimeter, the characteristics of pore region in the different scale may not be adequately described when the fractal dimension was calculated over the whole scale range. While Zhang and Li model enabled analyzing the fraction dimension of pore structure over the three divided scale ranges of micro, small capillary and macro regions, Ji el al. model refined analysis on the fractal characteristics of micro pore region consisting of micro I region corresponding to gel pores and micro II region corresponding to small capillary pores. As the pore size decreased, both models suggested that the pore surface of micro region became more irregular than macro region and the complexity of pores increased.

Recently, Deterioration of the concrete sewer concrete structures by biochemical corrosion has been issued and a development of the inhibition system of corrosion that has been demanded. The sulfuric acid may react with the hardened cement paste and originate expansive products which can induce swelling and breakless of concrete. Also, a sulphuric acid reacts with calcium hydroxide to from $CaSO_4\;\cdot\;2H_2O$. This reaction accounts for consumption of the calcium hydroxide present in hardened cement paste. In this study, To present from biochemical corrosion of the sewer repair mortar that was spread with liquefied antibiotic and then its experimental properties were experimentally investigated and to estimate the effect of absorbed condition of restorative mortar, the number of coating times and coating contents with antibiotic on the durability properties of restorative mortar spread with antibiotics. Also, testing items such as carbonation depth, choloride ion penetration depth and chemical resistance was tested to estimate the durability properties in third study. In results, the novellus bacillus inhabiting in sewer concrete structures was restrained by antibiotics developed in this study. And carbonation depth, choloride ion penetration depth and chemical resistance of restorative mortar spread with antibiotics was superior to that of plain mortar.

Nowadays, circulating fluidized bed combustor(CFBC) boilers system that can reduce environmental pollution particles are widely used in electric power plants. But the fly ash generated from CFBC boilers has lower $SiO_2$ and higher MgO and $SO_3$ contents and also has free CaO inducing expansion and abrupt initial setting of concrete. Therefore, revised KSL5405 for CFBC fly-ash as well as pulverized coal combustion(PCC) is introduced in the concrete field. In this study, the chemical properties and mechanical properties of blended cements with PCC and CFBC fly-ash produced in Korea are analyzed. The blended cement with only CFBC fly ash shows a lower length change than OPC but a higher flow change ratio. The compressive strength of blended cement paste with PCC and CFBC fly ash is slightly greater than that of cement paste with only PCC fly-ash. Based on the results, CFBC flyash blended cement products should be used with PCC flyash to ensure the material stability and material properties.

Large-scaling recycling of demolished concrete will concrete will contribute not only to the solution of a growing waste disposal problem, it will also help to consweve natural resoures of sand and gravel and to secure future supply of reasonly priced aggregates for building and other construction purposes within large urban areas. Because recycled aggregate particles consits of substantial amount of relatively soft cement paste component, it is less resistant to mechanical actions. With this view in mind, to obtain a reference data for the development of recycling system and to a basic data the guiedline of recycled aggregate concrete construction and engineering properties of recycled aggregate concrete according to the factors, such as blending ratio of recyced aggregete with the natural aggregate, addition to the factors, such as blending ratio of recycled aggregete with the natural aggregate, addition of flyash, water coment ratio.
The effect of $\beta$-TCP and PHA as additives on initial setting time, compressive strength and surface micro-structure after in vitro test of bone cement in TTCP and DCPA system was investigated. The median particle sizes of TTCP, $\beta$-TCP, DCPA and PHA for bone cement were about 3, 5, 0.9 and 4${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, respectively. Initial setting time and compressive strength of bone cement with various composition was measured by Vicat test and Universal Testing Machine, and surface morphology and crystalline phases of bone cements were observed and analyzed by SEM and x-ray diffractometer. Initial setting time was not affected by composition but by powder/liquid ratio, and cement with PHA required double amount of solution for paste as much as one without PHA, especially. It was thought that $\beta$-TCP and PHA in bone cements was not related to setting reaction. Thus, the addition of $\beta$-TCP and PHA in bone cements decreased compressive strength and inhabited HAP from being produced on surface in vitro test. In conclusion, it was not expected that $\beta$-TCP and PHA in TTCP-DCPD bone cements enhanced the strength and bioacitivity.
Concrete bond strength with steel re-bars depends on multiple factors including concrete-steel interface and mechanical properties of concrete. However, the hydration development of cementitious paste, and in turn the mechanical properties of concrete, are negatively affected by cold weather. This study aimed at exploring the concrete-steel bonding behavior in concrete cast and cured under freezing temperatures. Three concrete mixtures were cast and cured at -10 and -20℃. The mixtures were protected using conventional insulation blankets and a hybrid system consisting of insulation blankets and phase change materials. The mixtures comprised General Use cement, fly ash (20%), nano-silica (6%) and calcium nitrate-nitrite as a cold weather admixture system. The mixtures were tested in terms of internal temperature, compressive, tensile strengths, and modulus of elasticity. In addition, the bond strength between concrete and steel re-bars were evaluated by a pull-out test, while the quality of the interface between concrete and steel was assessed by thermal and microscopy studies. In addition, the internal heat evolution and force-slip relationship were modeled based on energy conservation and stress-strain relationships, respectively using three-dimensional (3D) finite-element software. The results showed the reliability of the proposed models to accurately predict concrete heat evolution as well as bond strength relative to experimental data. The hybrid protection system and nano-modified concrete mixtures produced good quality concrete-steel interface with adequate bond strength, without need for heating operations before casting and during curing under freezing temperatures down to -20℃.

CaO-based by-products composed of CaO, SO3, Al2O3, etc. are generally used as raw materials for CaO compounds. When applied to the recovered water of ready-mixed concrete, the hydration reaction of the powder material is accelerated and concrete performance can be improved. In this study, activated sludge was prepared to apply to the recovered water of ready-mixed concrete by mixing CaO-based hot-rolled slag(C12A7) in the recycling water of ready-m ixed concrete. Cem ent paste setting time and mortar compressive strength performance tests confirmed the effect on the hydration reaction. Therefore, the possibility of concrete application using activated sludge was confirmed.
Significant damage to concrete results from the intrusion of corrosive solutions, for example, dissolved chlorides corrode reinforcing steel and cause spatting. Effectively blocks the penetration of these solutions will eliminate or greatly reduce this damage and lead to increased durability. This study is to investigate the effects of pozzolanic admixtures, fly ash and silica fume, and a blast furnace slag on the chloride ion penetration of concretes. The main experimental variables wore the water-cementitious material ratios, the types and amount of admixtures, and the curing time. And it is tested for the porosity and pore size distributions of cement paste, chloride ion permeability based on electrical conductance, and 180-day ponding test for chloride intrusion. The results show that the resistance of concrete to the penetration of chloride ions increases as the w/c was decreased, and the increasing of curing time. Also, concrete with pozzolans exhibited higher resistance to chloride ion penetration than the plain concrete. The significant reduction in chloride ion permeability(charge passed) of concrete with pozzolans due to formation of a discontinuous macro-pore system which inhibits flow. It is shown that there is a relationship between chloride ion permeability and depth of chloride ion penetration of concrete, based on the pore structure (porosity and pore size distributions) of cement paste.

It is well known that cracks in concrete decrease permeability and durability of concrete because cracks enhance the penetration of water or corrosive chemicals like as chlorides, carbon dioxides, sulfates and some others. But some of cracks in hardened cements may be sealed in case of contacting water. This phenomenon is called "self healing" and it has a close relation to hydration products newly formed on surfaces of cracks. Many studies on self healing in concretes commonly showed that CSH gel has been observed on crack surfaces. And some studies have reported that calcium hydroxides and ettringite were observed as well as CSH gel on crack surfaces. This study was carried out to investigate hydration products formed by self healing process and also examine the influence of waterproof admixture for concretes on self healing of cement. As a result of XRD, DSC, SEM and EDX analysis of crack surfaces, it was found that self healing of cement was related to CSH gel, calcium hydroxides and ettringite. And waterproof admixture increased fibrous (needle-like) hydration products which were in network form. It is estimated that such fibrous products are effective for self healing process of cement system.
