Inappropriate backfill material and poor compaction cause the damage to sewer and ground settlement. To deal with such problem, flowable backfill material has attracted attention recently. A basic study was conducted in a bid to obtain optimum mixing ratio of backfill material with the characteristics of rapid hardening, pseudo-plasticity, flowability and anti washout ability and enhance the cost efficiency of backfill material. Through the test of optimal mixing ratio of rapid hardening, evaluation of optimal mixing ratio of backfill material was conducted. As a result, required performance as well as cost efficiency could be achieved by adjusting plasticizer even in case of increasing W/M of the paste of rapid hardening to 100%.

The use of wasted concrete can settle the environmental pollution and shortage of natural aggregate. However, recycled aggregate includes substantial amount of cement paste, so that these aggregates are more porous, and less resistant to mechanical actions than natural aggregates. Recently, the new manufacturing processes of high quality recycled aggregates were suggested such as heating. In this paper, for the purpose of manufacture of high quality recycled aggregates, the heating processes was considered to the existing process of recycled aggregates. To find the optimum process, the experiment was performed through the statistical design of experiment. The heating temperatures of 4 levels (300, 450, 600 and $750^{\circ}C$) and heating duration time (5, 20, 40, 60minute) were main experimental variables. Through the test results, it was found that the optimum manufacturing condition of coarse recycled aggregate was evaluated to be $600^{\circ}C$ and 40minute.

The stability forecasting of rock slope is more difficult than soil slope because catching the sign of failure in monitoring is not easy and deformation of the rock is small in failure process. But in the rock slope, there is small deformation like crack propagation in rock itself and it accumulates gradually in failure process. If it is possible to detect the small change in the rock slope, we can know the failure time exactly. Because the individual signal is gathered in the acoustic emission monitoring, it is possible to monitoring the slope if many sound signal is accumulated. Detection test of acoustic emission was performed. Uniaxial, two types of bending test, and two plane shear test were done with various cement paste sample. Wave propagation velocity of uniaxial test sample was increased with curing time. Wave Analysis give us the result that there is a AE sign signal before the failure, the AE count is suddenly increased. And frequency level 125kHz before failure is changed to level 200-250kHz after failure. In two plane shear test we can catch the AE signal and can know the failure type from wave shape. Monitoring test site is tunnel slope in Hongcheon but special signal is not collected.
Fluidity retention of concrete used high range water reducing AE agent(HWAE) is varied according to main component, dosage amount and dosing method of HWAE. The type and substitution ratio of mineral admixture also have influence on the fluidity retention of concrete used HWAE. In this study, for the purpose of improving the fluidity retention in concrete used HWAE. 3 types of HWAE and ground granulated blast furnace slag(SG) are used in cement paste, mortar and concrete varing dosage amount and dosing time of HWAE and substitution ratio of SG respectively. According to using the HWAE of naphthalene sulfonates and SG, the fluidity retention of mortar and concrete is improved remarkably. And after 30 min, dosing method of HWAE is very effective in improving the fluidity retension and strength of concrete regardless of type of HWAE.
High-strength concrete (HSC) is becoming increasingly attractive for various construction projects since it offers a multitude of benefits over normal-strength concrete (NSC). Unfortunately, current design provisions for shear capacity of RC slender beams are generally based on data developed for NSC members having a compressive strength of up to 50 MPa, with limited recommendations on the use of HSC. The failure of HSC beams is noticeably different than that of NSC beams since the transition zone between the cement paste and aggregates is much denser in HSC. Thus, unlike NSC beams in which micro-cracks propagate around aggregates, providing significant aggregate interlock, micro-cracks in HSC are trans-granular, resulting in relatively smoother fracture surfaces, thereby inhibiting aggregate interlock as a shear transfer mechanism and reducing the influence of compressive strength on the ultimate shear strength of HSC beams. In this study, a new approach based on genetic algorithms (GAs) was used to predict the shear capacity of both NSC and HSC slender beams without shear reinforcement. Shear capacity predictions of the GA model were compared to calculations of four other commonly used methods: the ACI method, CSA method, Eurocode-2, and Zsutty's equation. A parametric study was conducted to evaluate the ability of the GA model to capture the effect of basic shear design parameters on the behaviour of reinforced concrete (RC) beams under shear loading. The parameters investigated include compressivestrength, amount of longitudinal reinforcement, and beam's depth. It was found that the GA model provided more accurate evaluation of shear capacity compared to that of the other common methods and better captured the influence of the significant shear design parameters. Therefore, the GA model offers an attractive user-friendly alternative to conventional shear design methods.

MgO powder-mixed concrete, expanded at the lower temperature around $850{\sim}1000$ degree celcius, might have long-term expansibility, which could remunerate for the contraction of concrete with delayed expansion, and through the process, the crack resistance of mass concrete might be improved. Currently used expandable concrete additive has three different types : CSA, CaO and MgO. In this study, therefore, such tests as carbonation, chloride diffusivity, freezing-thawing resistance and sulfate resistance after 56 days' curing were implemented and compared the results with the concrete with no MgO mixed to evaluate the durability of 5% MgO-mixed concrete after longer period of time. The degree of hydration for the MgO-mixed cement paste was analyzed after 1 day, 3 days, 7 days, 28 days, and 56 days using SEM, XRD, DSC.

From 1990's, a study on the development of exothermic concrete, a concrete which electro-conductive material is mixed, has been proceeded. However, due to the difficulty of exothermic reproducibility of concrete specimen, the study has been unable to continuously carried out. Accordingly, this study was focused on developing an exothermic concrete for the purpose of snow-melting material. Cement paste and mortar specimens mixed with graphite, conductive metal powder and chemical admixture were made. The evaluation of exothermic performance and reproducibility was conducted under $-2^{\circ}C$ of low temperature. In addition, micro-chemical analysis was carried out to investigate a cause of exothermic reproducibility. As a test result, the specimen mixed with graphite and superplasticizer with air entrained showed the best exothermic performance and reproducibility. Through micro-chemical analysis, it is judged that polymer or methacrylic acid (MAA), the contents inside the superplasticizer with air entrained, gave exothermic reproducibility by generating the electrochemical reaction with graphite.

Fresh concrete has 10~20% extra water in it. As those water remain entrapped air in the concrete, life span of structures is reduced. For that reason, if extra water is eliminated, it will be useful to improve the durability of the structures. Though there were many reports about permeable formwork, the study on the properties of permeable liner itself has been insufficient. In addition, making holes on the form causes lowering of workability. Therefore, this study reviewed the properties of woven and non-woven permeable liner and formwork which has no holes on the form. For the woven and non-woven permeable liner, they showed great application with W/C decrease, lowering roughness, increased compressive strength of surface area and slight loss of cement paste, when the were applied to concrete. In addition, they showed different performance according to the density of woven liner or thickness of non-woven liner. Furthermore, when using the draining non-woven permeable liner which has drainage path inside, concrete surface showed required performance with high workability, without drilling the holes on the form.

Alkali-activated binder (AAB) is recently being considered as a sustainable alternative to portland cement (PC) due to its low carbon dioxide emission and diversion of industrial wastes and by-products such as fly ash and slag from landfills. In order to comprehend the behavior of AAB, detailed knowledge on relations between microstructure and mechanical properties are important. To address the issue, a new approach to characterize hardened pastes of AAB containing fly ash as well as those containing fly ash and slag was adopted using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectra microanalyses. The volume stoichiometries of the alkali activation reactions were used to estimate the quantities of the sodium aluminosilicate (N-A-S-H) and calcium silicate hydrate (CSH) produced by these reactions. The 3D plots of Si/Al, Na/Al and Ca/Si atom ratios given by the microanalyses were compared with the estimated quantities of CSH(S) to successfully determine the unique chemical compositions of the N-A-S-H and CSH(S) for ten different AAB at three different curing temperatures using a constrained nonlinear least squares optimization formulation by general algebraic modeling system. The results show that the theoretical and experimental quantities of N-A-S-H and CSH(S) were in close agreement with each other. The $R^2$ values were 0.99 for both alkali-activated fly ash and alkali-activated slag binders.
Structural experiment result showed that PHC(d=600mm) Pile used as a common compression member could resist 83.6 ~ 91.6 tonf of ultimate tension force, if the adhesion of P.C. bar of PHC pile to the concrete foundation is strengthened. Considering a proper safety factor to ultimate tension strength, PHC pile can substitute the anti-floating anchor, or reduce the number of anchors. For this purpose, pullout resistance behavior of a Bored pile embedded in real ground as well as structural tension strength of PHC pile must be evaluated. This study performed the static pullout tests to evaluate the pullout behavior of bored pile, and compared the test results with design value of side resistance. To evaluate the pullout resistance easily, static pullout test results were compared with dynamic loading test results using PDA. As a result, cement paste of the bored pile was hardened which is after 15 days, LH side resistance design value corresponded well to the Static pullout test results, also to the side resistance evaluated by dynamic loading test.
