Recently, researches about downlink resource allocation algorithms applying SDMA to enhance the system throughput and cell coverage have begun. Most OFDM/SDMA based resource allocation algorithms have some limitations such that those only concentrate on maximizing the system throughput or can be applied in single cell environment. In this paper, we propose an OFDM/SDMA based downlink resource allocation algorithm which considers high layer QoS parameters suitable for the required data traffic and it also minimizes the system throughput loss and considers inter-cell interference from adjacent cells. so it can be adopted in multi-cell environment. We manifest the performance of the proposed algorithm in Ped A and SCME MIMO Channel Model.

Device-to-Device (D2D) communication underlaying cellular networks is a promising add-on component for future radio communication systems. It provides more access opportunities for local device pairs and enhances system throughput (ST), especially when mobile relays (MR) are further enabled to facilitate D2D links when the channel condition of their desired links is unfavorable. However, mutual interference is inevitable due to spectral reuse, and moreover, selecting a suitable transmission mode to benefit the correlated resource allocation (RA) is another difficult problem. We aim to optimize ST of the hybrid system via joint consideration of mode selection (MS) and RA, which includes admission control (AC), power control (PC), channel assignment (CA) and relay selection (RS). However, the original problem is generally NP-hard; therefore, we decompose it into two parts where a hierarchical structure exists: (i) PC is mode-dependent, but its optimality can be perfectly addressed for any given mode with additional AC design to achieve individual quality-of-service requirements. (ii) Based on that optimality, the joint design of MS, CA and RS can be viewed from the graph perspective and transferred into the maximum weighted independent set problem, which is then approximated by our greedy algorithm in polynomial-time. Thanks to the numerical results, we elucidate the efficacy of our mechanism and observe a resulting gain in MR-aided D2D communication.

The next generation cellular radio systems require high data rate transmission and large system capacity In order to meet these requirements, multiple antennas can be used at the base and mobile stations, forming MIMO(multiple-input, multiple-output) channels This paper considers a downlink MIMO system assuming a large number of base station antennas, a small number of mobile station antennas, and rich-scattering, quasi-stationary, and flat-fading channel environments When the channel state information is given at the base station in a single user system, a MIMO technique with SVD(singular value decomposition) and water-filling can achieve the maximal downlink channel capacity. In multi-user environments, however, SDMA(space division multiple acces) technique can be used to further increase the total channel capacity supported by the base station This paper proposes a MIMO SDMA technique which can transmit parallel data streams to each of multiple users. The proposed method. can achieve higher total channel capacity than SVD-based MIMO techniques or conventional SDMA using smart antennas.

Recently, the mobile users seem to be rapidly increasing and then the capacity limit will be reached at close hand. In these situations, to provide them with good quality of service in the coming future, newly planned cell design is needed. In the next generation mobile communication systems, namely IMT-2000, good quality services will be possible only by designing the cell structure hierarchically with the help of appropriate cell planning. In the research process, the standardization reports on the future mobile cellular IMT-2000 system (3GPP) are investigated and the parameters, that are essential to cell planning, are also researched. Modeling of IMT-2000 radio link and the numerical analysis on that make it possible to calculate the forward/reverse link budget, system capacity call blocking probability Erlang capacity and cell coverage. In planning the cell of IMT-2000 system, various parameters are considered, such as hierarchical cell structure, number of users, data service forms and propagation area environments. From the results, efficient cell planning methods are proposed. Through this thesis efficient cell planning and maximum capacity will be achieved in the beginning of commercial IMT-2000 service.

In this paper, the prioritized queueing handoff scheme in CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) cellular system is proposed. Also, the analytical survey for the proposed scheme is carried out, and the performance of this scheme is compared with that of non prioritized scheme and FIFO (First In First Out) queue scheme by computer simulation. The handoff region is defined as the time between the handoff treshold and the receiver threshold, and it is used for the maximum queue waiting time in the proposed scheme. The handoff and the receiver thresholds are defined as rewpectively: 1) the time that the Pilot Strength Measurement Message in the neighbor in the neighbor cell is received to the BS (Base Station) under the T_ADD threshold; and 2) the time that the T_DROP timer is expired and the Pilot Strength Measurement Message in the current cell is received to the BS under the T_DROP threshold. The performance metrics for analyzing the proposed scheme are : 1) probability of forced termination; 2) probability of call blocking; 3) ratio of carried traffic to total offered load; 4) average queue size; 5) average handoff delay time in queue. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme maintains high performance for handoff requests at a small penalty in total system capacity.

In this paper, we propose a sub-cell coverage control algorithm for enhancement of the cell throughput in OFDMA based relay systems. Relay station (RS) is exploited for improved quality of the received signal in cellular communication systems, especially in shadow areas. However, since a RS requires additional radio resource consumption for the link between the base station (BS) and the RS, we have to carefully control the coverage areas if a mobile station (MS) is serviced via the BS or the RS considering the cell throughput. We consider radio resource reuse as well for the sub-cell coverage configuration by applying various reuse patterns between RSs. We also consider a time varying system by adaptively changing the threshold for coverage depending on the MSs' traffic in the cell. We initially determine the sub-cell coverage of the system depending on the ratio of received signal-interference-noise-ratio (SINR) of the MS from the BS and RSs, respectively. Then, the "sub-cell coverage threshold" varies based on the "effective transmitted bits per sub-channel" with time. Simulation result shows that the proposed "time varying coverage control algorithm" leads to throughput improvement compared to the fixed sub-cell coverage configuration.

This paper describes SON(: Self Organization Network) technology in LTE networks. The SON is a unique feature of LTE compared to previous cellular systems such as UMTS and GSM, and it is a tool that effectively derives the best performance in the time-varying wireless radio environment. Also, the SON has the ability for the operator to automate the setting of the network, allowing for centralized planning and reducing the need for manual work. The SON is largely divided into three categories: Self-Configuration, Self-Optimization, and Self-Healing. Each large categories has a detailed description of technology, and the technologies in each categories are gathered to complete the technology called the SON. In this paper, we focus on MRO which is one of the Self-Optimization technique in each of the three categories.

The Satellite Mobile Communication System holds several advantages, such as wide coverage that guarantees the communication in a huge area. It is suitable in the ocean and forest and especially in emergency situation. However, the licensed frequency is not always occupied within all coverage and all the time. The actual utilization rate is relatively low compared to other wireless communications such as cellular systems. There are a large amount of white spaces in its coverage. Therefore, it is necessary to consider introducing additional services such as data communication, in order to increase the spectrum utilization as well as the revenue of the Satellite service provider. In this paper, we first analyze the possibility to implement new services in the licensed band of satellite mobile phone by its provider. Then we address the most significant issue for the implementation of current service, which is how to accurately detect the satellite mobile terminals. Finally, we suggest two new possible solutions namely, eigenvalue detection based methods to find out the existence of transmitted signal from the satellite mobile terminals.

In this paper, a generation method of transmit and receive beamforming vectors based on base station cooperation is proposed which maximizes the user SINR in mobile cellular multi-user MIMO systems. There are two main sources of interference which deteriorate the performance of the system, i.e. the inter-user interference caused by the usage of the same radio resource for multiple users in the system, and the inter-cluster interference from neighboring base stations which are not participating in cooperative transmission. The proposed scheme cancels out the inter-user interference by using the block diagonalization(BD) method, and mitigate the inter-cluster interference by using optimal transmit and receive beamforming vectors based on optimal combining(OC) with the statistic information of inter-cluster interference. We perform computer simulations to verify the performance of the proposed scheme, and compare the result to the conventional performance obtained from utilizing the receiver side information only or utilizing the information from neither sides. The performance evaluations are conducted not only over the independent MIMO channels, but over correlated MIMO channels to demonstrate the robustness of the proposed scheme over the channels with correlation among antennas.

The cdma2000 lxEV - DO mobile communication system provides broadcast and multicast services (BCMCS) to meet an increasing demand from multimedia data services. The servicing of video streams over a BCMCS network must, however, face a challenge from the unreliable and error-prone nature of the radio channel. The BCMCS network uses Reed-Solomon coding integrated with the MAC protocol for error recovery. We analyze this coding technique and show that it is not effective in the case of slowly moving mobiles. To improve the playback quality of an MPEG-4 FGS video stream, we propose the Hybrid error recovery scheme, which combines Reed-Solomon with ARQ, using slots which are saved by reducing the Reed-Solomon coding overhead. The target packets to be retransmitted are prioritized by a utility function to reduce the packet error rate in the application layer within a fixed retransmission budget. This is achieved by considering of the map of the error control block at each mobile node. The proposed Hybrid error recovery scheme also uses the characteristics of MPEG-4 FGS (fine granularity scalability) to improve the video quality even when conditions are adverse: slow-moving nodes and a high error rate in the physical channel.
