  • In this paper, we investigate the throughput capacity of a multi-hop relay network with cognitive radio (CR) enabled relay stations (RS). We suggested a TDMA/FDMA based frame structure where RSs dynamically select unused channels to communicate with the base station (BS) using CR techniques to analyze the throughput capacity. We developed the throughput capacity model for the proposed system based on utilization factor. The analytical results based on those equations show significant improvement in throughput capacity for CR enabled multi-hop relay system.

  • The iterative usage of soft outputs increases the performance of digital radio receiver. The feedback of reliability information reduces the channel estimation errors and increases the performance of equalization. This paper investigates the turbo equalization techniques for wireless cellular systems over continuous time varying channel. Simulation results over a GSM channel were presented.

  • For assigning channel in a cellular sireless network, we purpose satisfying constraints with a related probability between cells and channels on the channel interference matrix formed by m terminals and n channels. And we purpose to get efficient channel assigning to limited channels in a wireless cell using parallelism of neural networks. In this paper, we solve the problem according to the number of requeirements when channel change with 11-533 procession elements. We demonstrate efficiency of proposed algorithm through same simulations in a specific time period.

  • We have designed local exposure systems for long-time mice experiments in PCS and cellular frequency band(PCS: 1,762.5 MHz, cellular: 848.5 MHz). The fabricated systems are local exposure systems of carousel type, and 40 mice can be exposed at a time. In order not to give extra stress to the mice ender experiment, the systems were fabricated to meet the environmental conditions such as illumination, ventilation, noise etc. SAR measurement was performed using a temperature probe. Measurements at 3 points in the head of mouse cadaver and solid phantom were made, and it has been confirmed that the measurement results are in good agreement with the simulation results in the real exposure environment. The exposure systems are currently used for long-term mice experiments.

  • We propose PHY Frame Structure for M2M direct communications in licensed frequency band. Especially, the proposed PHY Frame Structure coexists in the same licensed frequency band as currently operating cellular systems. Recently, Machine to Machine (M2M) service markets, including SmartGrid, Mobile Health, and Smart Car, are being rapidly expanded. Supporting M2M services in a specific case can waste Radio Resource in cellular systems. For example, when two M2M terminals communicating to each other are closely located, direct communication is radio resource efficient. In this paper, we set the requirement of maintaining the existing PHY frame structure in cellular systems to meet the backward compatibility. Based on this backward compatibility requirement, PHY frame structure for M2M direct communications is developed while satisfying coexistence with current operating cellular system. The proposed PHY frame structure meets backward compatibility. Accordingly, it is expected that the proposed M2M frame structure is useful for its frequency resource efficiency.

  • During the last several years, the demand of mobile communication is increasing rapidly due to the convenience of usage. Therefore, the evoluation scenario toward the new cellular network is needed. In this paper, the future prospect of cellular network is considered, and movable-boundary TDMA/BTMA protocol is proposed as a new voice/data integrated multiple access protocol for the future cellular packet radio networks. Then, the performance of movable-bounary TDMA/BTMA protocol is analyzed and compared with that of PRMA protocol by computer simulation. In the proposed movable-boundary TDMA/BTMA protocol, the voice traffic sensitive to delay time is served by TDMA protocol and the data traffic sensitive to loss is served by BTMA protocol. Also, the boundary of voice and data can be moved adaptively by usign SYN character, control byte, voice call counter, ect. Therefore. it could be seen that the performance of movable-boundary TDMA/BTMA protocol is better than that of PRMA protocol with respect to delay and throughput.

  • 5G AgiLe and fLexible integration of SaTellite And cellulaR (5G-ALLSTAR) is a Korea-Europe (KR-EU) collaborative project for developing multi-connectivity (MC) technologies that integrate cellular and satellite networks to provide seamless, reliable, and ubiquitous broadband communication services and improve service continuity for 5G and beyond. The main scope of this project entails the prototype development of a millimeter-wave 5G New Radio (NR)-based cellular system, an investigation of the feasibility of an NR-based satellite system and its integration with cellular systems, and a study of spectrum sharing and interference management techniques for MC. This article reviews recent research activities and presents preliminary results and a plan for the proof of concept (PoC) of three representative use cases (UCs) and one joint KR-EU UC. The feasibility of each UC and superiority of the developed technologies will be validated with key performance indicators using corresponding PoC platforms. The final achievements of the project are expected to eventually contribute to the technical evolution of 5G, which will pave the road for next-generation communications.

  • In this paper, we will provide a comprehensive review of radio propagation measurements conducted to date for mobile radio systems at frequency bands used for cellular and personal communications services in microcellular systems. Path-loss results were measured by using narrowband signal and multipath propagations were characterized by wideband measurements. This paper includes unpublished empirical path loss formulas for Oakland city of non-uniform building heights, and presents a comparison with path loss formulas obtained from typical low-rise building environments in order to discuss street grid dependence on route-specific building profile. We will also compare some empirical models developed based on the measurements with a few well-established theoretical prodiction models.

  • Malignant fibrous histiocytoma(MFH) is relatively rare in the oro-maxillofacial region, particularly in the oral cavity. MFH usually arise in the extremities, the thigh being the most common site. The incidence of malignant fibrous histiocytoma in bones is rather low compared with that in soft tissues. MFH is predominant in the 40s and 50s. Histologically, the lesion are said to show high cellularity with fibrous stroma, cellular and nuclear pleomorphism, an admixture of fibroblast-like spindle cells which tend to be arranged in whorls or cartwheel or storiform patterns, rounded mononuclear cells and multinucleated giant cells. The cells frequently have abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm which has a foamy or vesicular appearance. Treatment consists of varying combinations of radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and surgery. We have observed a case of malignant fibrous histiocytoma occured in the right maxilla of 32-year-old woman.
