  • In [1], they build two populations' cellular automata model with predation based on the Penna model. In this paper, uncertain aspects and problems of imprecise and vague data are considered in this model. A fuzzy cellular automata model containing movable wolves and sheep has been built. The results show that the fuzzy cellular automata can simulate the classical CA model and can deal with imprecise and vague data.

  • Cellular automata (CA) based cryptosystem has been studied for almost three decades, yet most of previously reported researches focus on the symmetric key encryption schemes. Up to now, few CA based public key encryption scheme has been proposed. To fill the gap, in this paper, we propose a new public key encryption scheme based on layered cellular automata (LCA). Specifically, in the proposed scheme, based on the T-shaped neighborhood structure, we combine four one-dimensional reversible CAs (set as the private key) to form the transition rules of a two-dimension CA, where the two-dimension CA is set as the corresponding public key. Based on the hardness assumption of the Decisional Dependent CA problem in LCA, we formally prove the proposed scheme is indistinguishably secure against the chosen-plaintext attack (IND-CPA). In addition, we also use a numeric example to demonstrate its feasibility. Finally, analysis of key space and time efficiency are also carried out along with RSA-1024, and the simulation results demonstrate that our proposed scheme is more efficient.

  • A Cellular Automaton(CA) is a dynamical system in which space and time are discrete, the state of each cell is unite and is updated by local interaction. Since the characteristics of CA is diffusion and local interaction, CA is used by crypto-systems and VLSI structure. In this study, we proposed a hash function based on the concept of 2-dimensional cellular automata and analyzed the proposed hash function.

  • Majority problem and synchronization problem on cellular automata(CA) are hard to solve, since they are global problems while CA operate on local information. This paper proposes a way to find state transition rules of these problems. The rules of CA are represented as CMR(conditionally matching rules) and evolutionary algorithms are applied to find rules. We find many solution rules to these problems, compared the results with the previous studies, and demonstrated the effectiveness of CMR on one-dimensional cellular automata.

  • This paper is implementation of cellular automata neural network system which is a living creatures' brain using evolving hardware concept. Cellular automata neural network system is based on the development and the evolution, in other words, it is modeled on the ontogeny and phylogeny of natural living things. The proposed system developes each cell's state in neural network by CA. And it regards code of CA rule as individual of genetic algorithm, and evolved by genetic algorithm. In this paper we implement this system using evolving hardware concept Evolving hardware is reconfigurable hardware whose configuration is under the control of an evolutionary algorithm. We design genetic algorithm process for evolutionary algorithm and cells in cellular automata neural network for the construction of reconfigurable system. The effectiveness of the proposed system is verified by applying it to time-series prediction.

  • Physics based Cellular Automata model is developed and implemented into FEM code. CA model can predict microstructure evolution based on physical phenomena, such as hardening, recovery and recrystallization. This paper outlines the methodology to determine the materials constants for these different phenomena from simpler measurements.

  • Nongroup Cellular Automata(CA) having two trees in the state transition diagram of a CA is suitable for pattern classifier which divides pattern set into two classes. Maji et al. [1] classified patterns by using multiple attractor cellular automata as a pattern classifier with dependency vector. In this paper we propose a method of generation of a pattern classifier using feature vector which is the extension of dependency vector. In addition, we propose methods for finding nonreachable states in the 0-tree of the state transition diagram of TPMACA corresponding to the given feature vector for the analysis of the state transition behavior of the generated pattern classifier.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the temporal land cover change by gradual urbanization of Gyeongan-cheon watershed. This study used the five land use of Landsat TM satellite images(l987, 1991, 2001, 2004) which were classified by maximum likelihood method. The five land use maps examine its accuracy by error matrix and administrative district statistics. This study analyze land use patterns in the past using time.series Landsat satellite images, and predict 2004 year land use using a CA-Markov combined CA(Cellular Automata) and Markov process, and examine its appropriateness. Finally, predict 2030, 2060 year land use maps by CA-Markov model were constructed from the classified images.

  • Recently with the ever increasing growth of data communication, the need for security and privacy has become a necessity. The advent of wireless communication and other handheld devices like Personal Digital Assistants and smart cards have made the implementation of cryptosystems a major issue. The Cellular Automata(CA) can be programmed to implement hardware sharing between the encryption and decryption. In this paper, we give conditions for a linear hybrid cellular automata with 60, 102 or 204 to be a linear hybrid group cellular automata C. And we present the conditions which the complemented hybrid group cellular automata C' with complement vectors derived from C has maximum equal lengths in the state transition diagram of C' Also we analyze the relationship among cycles of C' These results generalize Mukhopadhyay's results.

  • Cellular Automata(CA) has been used as modeling and computing paradigm for a long time. While studying the models of systems, it is seen that as the complexity of the physical system increase, the CA based model becomes very complex and becomes to difficult to track analytically. Also such models fail to recognize the presence of inherent hierarchical nature of a physical system. In this paper we analyze the properties of GF($2^p$) multiplue attractor cellular automata(GF($2^p$) MACA) C and give a method of synthesis of C which is a special class of hierarchical cellular automata proposed as an alternative to solve the problem.
