The electro-optical characteristics of the Liquid Crystal on Silicon (hereinafter "LCOS") micro-display on vertically alignment (VA) mode were studied depending on various cell gaps. 5 different cell gaps, such as $1.4{\mu}m,\;1.8{\mu}m,\;2.1{\mu}m,\;2.4{\mu}m$ and $2.8{\mu}m$, were selected. The reflectance-voltage (R-V) characteristics, distributions of reflected light and reflectance were calculated with 3-dimmensional LC code. At the center of cell, the smallest $1.4{\mu}m$ cell gap showed the lowest reflectance and the largest $2.8{\mu}m$ cell gap showed the highest reflectance due to the surface anchoring effect. In case of $2.1{\mu}m$ cell gap, the sum of reflectance overall cell was the highest value. Considering the reflectance and RV curve characteristic, the optimized cell gap was $2.1{\mu}m$.
The FFS (fringe-field switching) mode was known to exhibit both a wide viewing angle and high transmittance, especially when using a liquid crystal with negative dielectric anisotropy. We have studied cell gap-dependent electrode-optic characteristics of the FFS mode using the LC with negative dielectric anisotropy. In case of a small cell gap of 2 ${\mu}$m, the transmittance at the center of pixel and common electrodes is relatively low because effect of surface anchoring that holds the LC to the initial state is larger than that in a large cell gap of 4 .urn such that the LCs in those regions cannot rotate enough. However, in case of a large cell gap of 4 .urn, the effect of surface anchoring becomes relatively small so that the LCs at the center of pixel and common electrode can be twisted enough by applied voltage, giving rise to high transmittance. Therefore, we can conclude that the light efficiency is dependent on the cell gap.

Cell gap dependence on anisotropic phase separation was studied. The results showed that the morphology of phase separation depended on cell gap and material parameters. With numerical simulation and experiments, the optimal range of cell gap in the formation of polymer layer and liquid crystal was suggested for given material parameters.

We have studied cell gap-dependent electrode-optic characteristics of the FFS mode using the LC with negative dielectric anisotropy. In case of a small cell gap of 2 ${\mu}m$, the transmittance at the center of pixel and common electrodes is low due to stronger influence of surface anchoring that holds the LC to the initial state than twisting force induced by neighboring LCs. In case of a large cell gap of 4 ${\mu}m$, the influence of surface anchoring force becomes weak so that the LCs at the center of pixel and common electrode can be twisted enough by applied voltage, giving rise to high transmittance. Therefore, we conclude that the light efficiency in the device is dependent on the cell gap.
This paper represents the response surface model for the cell gap on the flexible liquid crystal display (LCD) process. Using response surface methodology (RSM). D-optimal design is carried out to build the design space and the cell gap is characterized by the quadratic model. The statistical analysis is used to verify the response surface model. This modeling technique can predict the characteristics of the desired response, cell gap, varying with process conditions.
We studied about new module technology to solve warpage problems that produce bending of cell in the LCD (Liquid crystal display). Characteristics of cell gap and glass bending of applying heat Panel's PAD part and cell at various temperature was investigated. When applies heat and compresses PAD party only in case of compressing COG(Chip on Glass), uniformity of cell gap that happen by glass bending by temperature of these compressing COG In the PAD party is decreased. However, in case of compress COG. glass bending of applying heat Panel's PAD part and cell at various temperature produced 20um. But, uniformity of cell gap was not decreased. Therefore, it is considered that applying heat Panel's PAD part and cell could decrease uniformity of cell gap and bending of glass.
Cell migration requires a defined cell polarity which is formed by diverse cytoskeletal components differentially localized to the poles of cells to extracellular signals. Rap-GAP3 transiently and rapidly translocates to the cell cortex in response to chemoattractant stimulation and localizes to the leading edge of migrating cells. Here, we examined localization of truncated RapGAP3 proteins and found that the I/LWEQ domain in the central region of RapGAP3 was sufficient for posterior localization in migrating cells, as opposed to leading-edge localization of full-length Rap-GAP3. All truncated proteins accumulated at the leading edge of migrating cells exhibited clear translocation to the cell cortex in response to stimulation, whereas proteins localized to the posterior in migrating cells displayed no translocation to the cortex. The I/LWEQ domain appears to passively accumulate at the posterior region in migrating cells due to exclusion from the extended front region in response to chemoattractant stimulation rather than actively being localized to the back of cells. Our results suggest that posterior localization of the I/LWEQ domain of RapGAP3 is likely related to F-actin, which has probably different properties compared to newly formed F-actin at the leading edge of migrating cells, at the lateral and posterior regions of the cell.
Recently, applications of plasma display to the large public display and transparent display gain much attention. With this background, we report characteristics of opposite electrodes discharge cell with long electrode gap in comparison with conventional co-planar surface discharge. The cell size of test panel is $2950{\mu}m{\times}840{\mu}m$, which corresponds to that of the display having diagonal size of 130" with XGA resolution. Electrode gap of co-planar and opposite electrode structure are $240{\mu}m$ and $500{\mu}m$ respectively. These gap dimensions provide similar driving voltage windows. Experimental results show that opposite discharge provides approximately four fold higher luminous efficacy compared with that of the surface discharge. Resulting efficacy is found to be higher than 19 lm/W in green phosphor with 10 KHz continuous pulse operation.

Measurement of low cell gap and retardation by using a rotating polarizer method was proposed. For more precise calculation and measurement, we applied a retardation film that has large retardation value of $1\;{\mu}m$ to measurement system. From experiments, we proved that cell gap and retardation could be measured even though the values of those are so small.
