  • In HI decomposition, $Pt/Al_2O_3$ has been studied by several researchers. However, after HI decomposition, it could be seen that metal dispersion of $Pt/Al_2O_3$ was greatly decreased. This reason was expected of platinum loss and sintering, which platinum was aggregated. Also, this decrease of metal dispersion caused catalytic deactivation. This study was conducted to find the condition to minimize platinum sintering and loss. In particular, heat treatment atmosphere and temperature were examined to improve the activity of HI decomposition reaction. First of all, although $Pt/Al_2O_3$ treated in hydrogen atmosphere had low platinum dispersion between 13 and 18%, it was shown to suitable platinum form that played an important role in improving HI decomposition reaction. Oxygen in the air atmosphere made $Pt/Al_2O_3$ have high platinum dispersion even 61.52% at $500^{\circ}C$. Therefore, in order to get high platinum dispersion and suitable platinum form in HI decomposition reaction, air heat treatment at $500^{\circ}C$ was needed to add before hydrogen heat treatment. In case of 5A3H, it had 51.13% platinum dispersion and improved HI decomposition reaction activity. Also, after HI decomposition reaction it had considerable platinum dispersion of 23.89%.

  • This research proposed feature extraction algorithms as an input of STEP Ap214 data, and feature parameterization process to simplify further design change and maintenance. The procedure starts with suppression of blend faces of an input solid model to generate its simplified model, where both constant and variable-radius blends are considered. Most existing cell decomposition algorithms utilize concave edges, and they usually require complex procedures and computing time in recomposing the cells. The proposed algorithm using reference features, however, was found to be more efficient through testing with a few sample cases. In addition, the algorithm is able to recognize depression features, which is another strong point compared to the existing cell decomposition approaches. The proposed algorithm was implemented on a commercial CAD system and tested with selected industrial product models, along with parameterization of recognized features for further design change.

  • Thin-walled multicell box girders subjected to an eccentric load can he produced the three global behaviors of flexure, torsion, and distortion. Specially in railway bridges subjected to much eccentric load, it is quite important to evaluate influences of torsion and distortion. But it is very difficult to evaluate each influences of major behaviors numerically. If we can decompose an eccentric load P into flexural, torsional, and distortional forces. we can execute quantitative analysis each influences of major behaviors. Decomposition of Applied Load for Thin-walled Rectangular multi-cell box girders is reserched by Park, Nam- Hoi(Development of a multicell Box Beam Element Including Distortional Degrees of Freedom, 2003). But researches about trapezoidal multi-cell section is insufficient. So, this paper deals with multi-cell trapezoidal box girders. An expanded method, which is based on the force decomposition method for a single cell box girder given by Nakai and Yoo, is developed herein to decompose eccentric load Pinto flexural, torsional, and distortional forces. Derive formulas by decomposition of eccentric load is verified by 3D shell-modelling numerical analysis.

  • In this paper, we design non-linear transmitter and receiver using a uniform channel decomposition (UCD) to take account of inter-cell interference in multi-cell downlink systems. The designed UCD scheme brings forth the same SINR for all sub-channels in each cell. It provides great convenience to modulation/coding process and achieves the maximum diversity gain. The simulation results confirm that it exhibits a lower BER than the conventional method.

  • This work has studied the changes of pH in both of anodic and cathodic chambers of a divided cell due to the electrolytic split of water during the ammonia decomposition to nitrogen, and has studied the continuous decomposition characteristics of ammonia in a multi-cell stacked electrolyzer. The electrolytic decomposition of ammonia was much affected by the change of pH of ammonia solution which was caused by the water split reactions. The water split reaction occurred at pH of less than 8 in the anodic chamber with producing proton ions, and occurred at pH of more than 11 in the cathodic chamber with producing hydroxyl ions. The pH of the anodic chamber using an anion exchange membrane was sustained to be higher than that using a cation exchange membrane, which resulted in the higher decomposition of ammonia in the anodic chamber. By using the electrolytic characteristics of the divided cell, a continuous electrolyzer with a self-pH adjustment function was newly devised, where a portion of the ammonia solution from a pHadjustment tank was circulated through the cathodic chambers of the electrolyzer. It enhanced the pH of the ammonia solution fed from the pH-adjustment tank into the anodic chambers of the electrolyzer, which caused a higher decomposition yield of ammonia. And then, based on the electrolyzer, a salt-free ammonia decomposition process was suggested. In that process, ammonia solution could be continuously decomposed into the environmentally-harmless nitrogen gas up to 83%, when chloride ion was added into the ammonia solution.

  • This study focuses on the optimal operation and control strategy of the fuel cell process. The control objective of the Phosphoric Acid Fuel Cell (PAFC) is established and dynamic modeling equations of the entire fuel cell process are formulated as discrete-time type. On-line optimal control of the MIMO system employs the direct decomposition-coordination method. The objective function is modified as the tracking form to enhance the response capability to the load change. The weight factor matrices Q,R, which are design parameters, are readjusted. This control system is compared with LQI method and the results show that the suggested method is better than the traditional method in pressure difference control.

  • This paper describes an algorithm to compute and visualize a topologically accurate trilinear isosurface from three dimensional volumetric image via cubic cell decomposition. An isosurface is often used for visualizing a three dimensional volumetric image. An isosurface defined in each cubic cell of the volume is triangulated in order to be visualized in a computer. However, most isosurface extraction methods generate a triangulated isosurface which may not be topologically equivalent to the ideal trilinear isosurface. We propose a method to decide a correct connectivity of a trilinear isosurface in a cubic cell and perform appropriate cell decomposition according to the decision. Using the method, we can extract isosurface triangles from the cells generated by the decomposition. We prove that this method generates a triangulated isosurface which is topologically equivalent to the trilinear isosurface. We implemented our proposed algorithm and the result shows it can generate topologically accurate trilinear isosurface.

  • This work is investigated for the catalytic decomposition of hydrogen iodide (HI). Platinum was used as active material by loading on $ZrO_2-SiO_2$ mixed oxide in HI decomposition reaction. To obtain high and stable conversion of hydrogen iodide in severe condition, it was required to improve catalytic activity. For this reason, a method increasing dispersion of platinum was proposed in this study. In order to get high dispersion of platinum, zirconia was incorporated in silica by sol-gel synthesis. Incorporating zirconia influence increasing platinum dispersion and BET surface area as well as decreasing deactivation of catalysts. It should be able to stably product hydrogen for a long time because of inhibitive deactivation. HI decomposition reaction was carried out under the condition of $450^{\circ}C$ and 1 atm in a fixed bed reactor. Catalysts analysis methods such as $N_2$ adsorption/desorption analysis, X-ray diffraction, X-ray fluorescence, ICP-AES and CO gas chemisorption were used to measurement of their physico-chemical properties.

  • In the study of manifold decompositions, a central theme is to understand the source manifold taking advantage of the informations of a base space and a decomposition. The concepts of both Hurewicz fibrations and cell-like maps have played very important roles for investigating the mutual relations of three objects. But it is somewhat restrictive for a decomposition map to be cell-like because its inverse images must have trivial shapes.

  • Using ultrasonic irradiation, the separation and recovery of PV cell, made of silicon wafer, from PV module was carried out through selective decomposition of EVA used as an interlaminated binder. The ultrasonic cleaner of bath-type (Output: 130 W, Frequency: 40 kHz) was used as an ultrasonic apparatus in this research. With the fixed distance of 2 cm, from ultrasonic generator to PV cell, the experiment of EVA decomposition was performed in various organic solvents such as Toluene, Trichloroethylene, O-dichlorobenzene, Benzene. And also their concentrations and temperature was changed to survey the optimum conditions. However EVA can be decomposed perfectly at $55^{\circ}C$ within 160 min in 5 M of all kinds of solvent, PV cell may be recovered with being damaged or broken severely. This damage may be resulted from the swelling of EVA in the process of decomposition. Whereas, at the condition of 5 M at $65^{\circ}C$, PV cell can be recovered with the state of minor damage or crack. This implies that the decomposition rate of EVA increases with an increase of temperature, thereby EVA can be decomposed before the swelling of EVA layer. Conclusively, it is possible for PV cell to be recovered within 40 min, at $65^{\circ}C$ in 5 M, with less damage.
