As the modern maritime industry rapidly progresses through technological advancements, data processing technology is emphasized as a key driver of this development. Natural language processing is a technology that enables machines to understand and process human language. Through this methodology, we aim to develop a model that predicts the proportions of outcomes when entering new written judgments by analyzing the rulings of the Marine Safety Tribunal and learning the cause-providing ratios of previously adjudicated ship collisions. The model calculated the cause-providing ratios of the accident using the navigation applied at the time of the accident and the weight of key keywords that affect the cause-providing ratios. Through this, the accuracy of the developed model could be analyzed, the practical applicability of the model could be reviewed, and it could be used to prevent the recurrence of collisions and resolve disputes between parties involved in marine accidents.
The Fukushima-Daiichi accident shook the world, as a well-known plant design, the General Electric BWR Mark I, was heavily damaged in the tsunami, which followed the Great Japanese Earthquake of 11 March 2011. Plant safety functions were lost and, as both AC and DC failed, manoeuvrability of the plants at the site virtually came to a full stop. The traditional system of Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs) and Severe Accident Management Guidelines (SAMG) failed to protect core and containment, and severe core damage resulted, followed by devastating hydrogen explosions and, finally, considerable radioactive releases. The root cause may not only have been that the design against tsunamis was incorrect, but that the defence against accidents in most power plants is based on traditional assumptions, such as Large Break LOCA as the limiting event, whereas there is no engineered design against severe accidents in most plants. Accidents beyond the licensed design basis have hardly been considered in the various designs, and if they were included, they often were not classified for their safety role, as most system safety classifications considered only design basis accidents. It is, hence, time to again consider the Design Basis Accident, and ask ourselves whether the time has not come to consider engineered safety functions to mitigate core damage accidents. Associated is a proper classification of those systems that do the job. Also associated are safety criteria, which so far are only related to 'public health and safety'; in reality, nuclear accidents cause few casualties, but create immense economical and societal effects-for which there are no criteria to be met. Severe accidents create an environment far surpassing the imagination of those who developed EOPs and SAMG, most of which was developed after Three Mile Island - an accident where all was still in place, except the insight in the event was lost. It requires fundamental changes in our present safety approach and safety thinking and, hence, also in our EOPs and SAMG, in order to prevent future 'Fukushimas'.
Recent changes in the cause of death among the Korean population seem to be systematic and significant. Data on cause of death from the medically certified death certificates provide at least four types of evidence: a sudden increase in recent years in the numbers of death due to cerebrovascular disease or circulatory diseases including rheumatic fever and chronic heart diseases and atherosclerosis; increasing steadily in the numbers of death due to malignant neoplasm of various sites, and death due to accident; decreasing steadily in the numbers of death due to communicable diseases or parasite diseases; and a large number of deaths with unspecified symptoms and ill-defined conditions. The lack of complete registration of the deads occurred or the incomplete description on the cause of death reported suggests that statistical information of cause of death from the medically certified death records is meaningful in interpreting changing patterns.

PURPOSES : With the increasing number of older drivers in an aging society, there is a growing need for research and planning on traffic safety for the older drivers using an improved road geometry design. This study also proposed a modified urban road interchange design, which aims to keep the older drivers away from accident-prone and high-traffic areas of the city. METHODS : In this study, we examined accident data records of older drivers to identify accident-prone zones and intersections; we studied the road geometry at these zones and analyzed if it was an underlying cause for higher number of accidents. Based on the research and subsequent analysis, we suggested plans for improvement of road geometry design at these intersections. RESULTS :By studying historic data and analyzing factors that affect the likelihood of accidents of vehicles driven by older drivers and after studying suitable traffic accident prediction models, we identified the major variables that need to be modified at accident-prone intersections, such as the width of a left turn lane at an intersection and the radius of the right turn lane at a street corner. The results have a significance probability of less than 0.001 and a 95% confidence level. To improve safety at the identified intersection, this study suggests the installation of a left-turn-lane-shaped Positive Offset and a right-turn-lane-shaped Slip Lane concept and an adjustment of intervals between intersections.
Recently, in the whole fields of industry including shipping business, the conception and importance of Human Factor is very highly and frequently emphasized. But the domestic crew disaster including injury and illness in our shipping business shows higher accident rate than other shipping countries. Therefore the developing of measures to prevent/reduce the accident is highly required as the marine accident including crew disaster causes enormous loss of property and human life in size and scale. But, because the domestic data regarding the crew accident are relatively insufficient and rule, the developing of those measures has many difficulties. Therefore, this study is to make the concerning data for the useful reference by showing the trend and current situation of crew accidents, assorted by the crew's rank, type of the accident, injured part of the body, cause of the accident, type of ships and type of the works when the accident occurred, by using the each ocean-going shipping company's recent 5 years('95∼'99) data in korea.
Through this study, we developed a model for predicting chemical accidents lead to casualties. The model was derived from the logistic regression analysis model and applied to the variables affecting the accident. The accident data used in the model was analyzed by studying the statistics of past chemical accidents, and applying independent variables that were statistically significant through data analysis, such as the type of accident, cause, place of occurrence, status of casualties, and type of chemical accident that caused the casualties. A significance of p < 0.05 was applied. The model developed in this study is meaningful for the prevention of casualties caused by chemical accidents and the establishment of safety systems in the workplace. The analysis using the model found that the most influential factor in the occurrence of casualty in accidents was chemical explosions. Therefore, there is an urgent need to prepare countermeasures to prevent chemical accidents, specifically explosions, from occurring in the workplace.

Due to Traffic accidents people faces health and economical casualties around the world. As the population increases vehicles on road increase which leads to congestion in cities. Congestion can lead to increasing accident risks due to the expansion in transportation systems. Modern cities are adopting various technologies to minimize traffic accidents by predicting mathematically. Traffic accidents cause economical casualties and potential death. Therefore, to ensure people's safety, the concept of the smart city makes sense. In a smart city, traffic accident factors like road condition, light condition, weather condition etcetera are important to consider to predict traffic accident severity. Several machine learning models can significantly be employed to determine and predict traffic accident severity. This research paper illustrated the performance of a hybridized neural network and compared it with other machine learning models in order to measure the accuracy of predicting traffic accident severity. Dataset of city Leeds, UK is being used to train and test the model. Then the results are being compared with each other. Particle Swarm optimization with artificial neural network (PSO-ANN) gave promising results compared to other machine learning models like Random Forest, Naïve Bayes, Nearest Centroid, K Nearest Neighbor Classification. PSO- ANN model can be adopted in the transportation system to counter traffic accident issues. The nearest centroid model gave the lowest accuracy score whereas PSO-ANN gave the highest accuracy score. All the test results and findings obtained in our study can provide valuable information on reducing traffic accidents.
The major aim of this study was to provide information on the chemical accidents that occurred in laboratories over the last 3 years. The total incidence of laboratory chemical accidents was 30 cases; 25 cases occurred at educational institutions. Most accidents (19 cases) occurred due to spills and leaks. The main cause of the accidents analyzed was worker carelessness (21 cases). Twenty-two accidents were related to hazardous chemical substances. In addition, general chemical substances as well as waste liquid contributed 26% to the incidents related to the laboratory. Among the 22 hazardous chemical substances involved in laboratory chemical accident, 67% of accident substances were accident preparedness substances.

This study aims to develop a model by which city bus drivers who are likely to cause an accident can be figured out based on the information about their actual driving records. For this purpose, from the information about the actual driving records of the drivers who have caused an accident and those who have not caused any, significance variables related to traffic accidents are drawn, and the accuracy between models is compared for the classification models developed, applying a discriminant analysis and logistic regression analysis. In addition, the developed models are applied to the data on other drivers' driving records to verify the accuracy of the models. As a result of developing a model for the classification of drivers who are likely to cause an accident, when deceleration ($X_{deceleration}$) and acceleration to the right ($Y_{right}$) are simultaneously in action, this variable was drawn as the optimal factor variable of the classification of drivers who had caused an accident, and the prediction model by discriminant analysis classified drivers who had caused an accident at a rate up to 62.8%, and the prediction model by logistic regression analysis could classify those who had caused an accident at a rate up to 76.7%. In addition, as a result of the verification of model predictive power of the models showed an accuracy rate of 84.1%.
