This paper describes the measurement result of leakage current flowing arrestors connected in catenary line to propose an optimal management methods. 27 arrestors set in 7 locations were tested. The leakage currents are included a harmonics of electric train during the operation of electric train in feeding section and in case of feeding earthing system.
This paper presents exact autotransformer-fed AC electric railroad system modeling using constant current mode. The theory is based on the solution of algebraic. The proposed modeling is considered the line self-impedances and mutual-impedances. Besides, the load modeling improved results are obtained as application to the proposed constant current mode. In the analysis on AT-fed AC electric railroad system circuit, a generalized analysis method using the loop equation on a case by case. the simulation objectives are to calculate the catenary and rail voltages with respect to ground, as the train moves along a section of line between two adjacent ATs. The model contains assumptions regarding the representation of the autotransformer, the impedance of the track/catenary system, and the grounding arrangements, which all effect the accuracy of the result. The modeling results seem very reasonable. It is established that techniques for the AC electric railroad system modeling and analysis.
Described in this paper are the dynamic model and the dynamic performance of catenary-pantograph system for TGV-K(maximum operating speed of 300km/hr). Dynamic simulations showed that the system satisfies the performance criteria such as contact loss ratio, contact force and lift-off of the contact wire. It is also shown by the simulations that the dynamic behavior and contact performance of the system at the operating speed of 350km/hr are found unacceptable. Design parameters of the catenary-pantograph system should be optimized for the speed-up of the TGV-K.
The dynamic characteristics of the current collection system are investigated by conducting a test run in which signals from accelerometers and load cells attached to the various parts of the pantograph are analyzed in both the time and frequency domains. The dynamic characteristics of the current collection system are found to be strongly influenced by the train speed; the fluctuation in the pantograph motion increases in direct proportion to the train speed. There exist two major fequency components in the pantograph motion related to the current collection, a speed-dependent component arising from the train traversing a span of the catenary, and a speed-independent component related to the pantograph resonant frequency. The train acceleration is also found to exert strong influence on the current collection system characteristics. The effect of the train motion is found to be stronger on the speed-dependent frequency component than on the speed-independent one.
In reference to this study, Part Ⅰ showed how the system respond to the harmonics originated from electric locomotives. That is, the system response to the harmonics was derived by computational algorithm with numerical formulas in theoretical aspects. However, Real catenary system has complex configuration of conductors and it is an important point that if we can consider the circuit element of catenary conductors as an uniformly distributed RLC element. Moreover, harmonic characteristics in electric locomotive depend on its operational modes. From these point of view, measurements of harmonics are performed for real railway power supply systems under the various operational modes, and spectrum and distortion analyses in measurement data are described.

AC railway feeding system use single phase to supply power to the railway vehicles. And the system use the rail track as a return current path, so that current flows in the rail. In this situation inductive interference on communication system and unsafe environment can appear on railway system. Therefore knowing the current distribution of catenary system and analysing the return current is required. In this study detail return current distribution was analyzed by modeling the catenary system as 4-conductors group. The distribution characteristics and trends of return current were studied by using the PSCAD/EMTDC and FDTD method that based on Maxwell equation was used to calculate the induced voltage. Simulation code was made by MATLAB. Using this study result data, we can suggest the proper installation location of digital device and these data can be used for additional studies related to return current or induced voltage as a base data.
The neutral section was installed in order to prevent conflict with different phase angle source in electric railway catenary system. The speed of electric train reduced due to coasting operation by notch off when it passed the neutral section. And, the catenary wire was damaged and the accident might be happened because of the arc generation when the electric train passed the neutral section with notch off condition. The inrush current of main transformer installed tiling train is analyzed during the operation of MCB(main circuit break) passing through the neutral section. The instantaneous waveform of load current were analyzed in case of powering and regenerative braking. Inrush current waveform with run of AC railway train showed that inrush current waveform and harmonics, the inrush current generated from main transformer in train has bad effects on power quality problem. In order to reduce these inrush currents, the MCB is connected when the phase angle of voltage is 90 degree. This paper is to measure inrush current and harmonics in main transformer of high speed train in neutral section of electric railway. This measurement report is used to control minimum inrush current in algorithm and power phase angle.
The studies on railway vehicles equipped with various energy storage system is proceeded actively. These have a lot of advantages like the maximizing reuse of the regeneration energy, the decrease of peak power in catenary and the reduction of infrastructure costs through catenary-free travelling. This paper is focused on the development of the TPS (Train Performance Simulation) program for railway vehicles equipped with energy storage system. The battery and ultra-capacitor system are modeled using Matlab/Simulink among several energy storage systems. And the feasibility of simulation model is evaluated with the basic power distribution algorithm.
The Korean High Speed Train(KHST) had been developed and evaluating on the Kyoung-Bu High Speed Line by through 'G7-R&D project'. In order to evaluate the function and characteristics of high speed train system, various experimental conditions have been considered and conducted. In this paper, current collection characteristics of KHST between pantograph and catenary system and dynamic behaviors are measured and analysed over 300 to 350km/h in running speed of KHST. A measuring system which was developed and installed on the Korean High Speed Train for the performance and mechanical characteristics of the KHST pantograph is used for this trial running test and we proofed that KHST has a remarkable and stable current collection characteristics as it had been designed.
