The Effect of Garment Category, Fashionability and Wears' Body type on Impression Formation (의복범주가 젊은이의 대인지각에 미치는 영향 -유행성 및 착용자의 체형과 관련지어-)

  • The purposes of the study were 1) to extend the cognitive categorization theory in an attempt to explain the of garment category, fashionability, and wearer's body types on impression formation, and 2) to find out structures of wearer's impressional dimension and wearer's professional image. The research included a quasi-experiment and survey. The experimental design was a $2^{3}$full factorial design of 3 independent variables. The experimental materials developed for the study were a set of stimuli and a response scale. The stimuli consisted of 8 drawings made by 3 independent variables (garment category, fashion level, wearer's body type). Result were as follows: 1) Garment category, fashionability and wearer's body type had significant effects on impression of the 5 factors-evaluation, potency, appearance, sociability and good-bad, with exception of wearer's body type which was nonsignificant to the potency factor. 2) Garment category was most effective on the evaluation and the potency. However wearer's body type was most effect on the appearance factor and fashionability variable was most effective on the good-bad factor. It was conclued that the results supported the cognitive categorization theory on impression formation and a cognitive categorization hypothesis of clothes.

The Effect of Consumers' Loss Aversion on Pioneering Advantage

  • The present study provides a theoretical investigation on pioneering advantage based on reference dependence and loss aversion effect under prospect theory (Kahneman and Tversky, 1979). Behavioral explanations for pioneering advantage are provided from two different perspectives: one based on the prototypicality and the other on the utility uncertainty of the option. A pioneer brand creates the product category and makes a strong impression in customers' mind, and thus becomes the most representative or prototypical option of the category. In addition, the pioneer brand becomes the first option to be experienced by the majority of consumers in the product category, thus has the lowest level of utility uncertainty compared with the late movers. This study integrates the previous accounts for pioneering advantage by showing that consumers have higher preferences for the most prototypical and the least uncertain option based on loss aversion and reference dependence effect. This study suggests that firms should carefully analyze the consumers' loss aversion and perceived uncertainty and prototypicality of their products in order to develop effective market entry strategies.

Product Category and Shopping Options of Logistic Service Quality

  • Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect of interaction between product category (fresh vs. indulgent product) and shopping options (shipping charge and delivery time) on customer satisfaction and purchase intent in an e-commerce context. When ordering groceries online, consumers begin to allocate a larger share of their grocery budget toward product categories that generally contain healthier items at the expense of product categories that generally contain more indulgent products. Moreover, customers are extremely sensitive to shipping options such as shipping charges and delivery time. Therefore, this research investigates the issue at a more segmented level to focus on the impact that one dimension of logistics service quality - product category, shipping charge, and delivery time have on customer satisfaction and purchase intent. Research design, data, and methodology: To test the theoretically derived priori hypotheses concerning product category, shipping charges, delivery time, satisfaction, and purchase intent, this research presented a scenario-based experiment. Eight treatment groups were assigned by the method of product category (fresh produce vs. indulgent product), shipping charge (free vs. paid), and delivery time (one-day vs. two to three days). A total of 240 subjects were divided into groups and exposed to one of the eight scenarios. Participant's purchase intention was the dependent variable, and ANOVA and L-matrix were used to analyze for main and interactive effects between factors. Conclusions: Results indicated that in tests 1 and 2, free shipping and fast delivery time increased consumer satisfaction as well as purchase intent, and fast delivery moderated the impact of free shipping on consumer satisfaction and purchase intent. Test 3 showed that the effect of free shipping on consumer satisfaction and purchase intent moderated by fast delivery for indulgent products. In contrast, fast delivery for fresh products moderated the effect of paid shipping on consumer satisfaction and purchase intent. Consistent with this proposed mechanism, the relative importance of fresh produce versus indulgent products highlights the effect of shipping options on consumer satisfaction and purchase intent when ordering the target product in an e-commerce context. We conclude with a discussion of the theoretical and practical implications of our findings.

A preliminary study for the evaluation of the effects of sex education program on college students (대학생의 성교육 효과측정을 위한 기초 연구)

  • This study was performed to provide preliminary data for the development of a useful instrument to measure the effect of sex education. The study was conducted with the voluntary participation of 155 college students enrolled in the course "Sexuality and Relationship" at Y university in Seoul. At the end of that course, they were asked to write freely about the change they had experienced on sexuality. All meaningful statements were elicited and classified into 7 categories; "Change of Knowledge", "Enlightenment", "Change of Attitude on Sexuality", "Buildup of Ability", "Buildup of. Identity", "Change of Emotion", "Change of Behavior:' There were significant changes in the areas of knowledge(28. 6%), enlightenment(27.4%), and attitudes(20.3%) about sexuality among these 7 categories. The Change of Knowledge category consists of 3 areas: "concretion of knowledge", "increase of information", and "correction of misunderstanding." In the category of Enlightenment, total 12 areas are included: "sex role", "erception of lack of knowledge", "importance of family", "life plan", "parent role", "value of life", "equality", "sexual autonomy", "importance of sexuality", "freedom of sexuality", "perception of sexual problem", and "meaning of love." The Attitude Change category consists of 8 areas. These are "being natural", "being progressive", "being sensitive", "being truthful", "being expressive", "being cautious", "being responsible", and "being confident". The category of Buildup of Ability includes 4 areas: "problem solving", "sex education", "relationship", and "communication". The category of Buildup of Identity includes "sexual identity", and "value of sexuality". The Emotional Change category includes 3 areas: "positive feeling", "negative feeling", and "breaking from negative feeling on sexuality". The Behavior Change category includes "sex-related behavioral change". In conclusion, up to now most researches on sex education effect measures only changes of knowledge, attitude, and behavior. But we believe the changes in "Enlightenment", "Buildup of Ability", "Buildup of Identity", "Change of Emotion", should be included in addition to knowledge, attitude, and behavior in the development of an instrument to measure the sex education effects. And the effect of sex education should measure the degree of learning of autonomy, enlightenment, and ability of behavior and so on rather than studying the simple changes in sexuality.enment", "Buildup of Ability", "Buildup of Identity", "Change of Emotion", should be included in addition to knowledge, attitude, and behavior in the development of an instrument to measure the sex education effects. An Exploratory Study on the Effect of Focusing Group Program for the Elderly with Depression: Based on the Focus Group Interview (노인우울 포커싱 집단프로그램 효과에 관한 탐색적 연구: 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 중심으로)

  • This research examines the participation experience of a Focusing group program dealing with elderly depression, with the aim of providing a groundwork for developing and improving such programs. Qualitative analysis is performed based interviews conducted with 9 elderly clients with depression symptoms that participated in a 10 week Focusing group program. The results summarize into 3 themes, 3 categories per theme, and 3 sub-categories per category. The first theme is "program effectiveness" with three associated categories: Category 1) The reduction effect of the depression ; Category 2) Increased self-awareness, self-respect and acceptance experience; Category 3) Everyday life changes. The second theme is "expectation and difficulties of the program", with 3 related categories: Category 1) Expectation of program; Category 2) Difficulties of program; Category 3) Personal difficulties. The third theme is "program enhancement methods" with 3 affiliated categories: Category 1) Differentiation with other programs; Category 2) Improvement of program; Category 3) Post program direction. Based on the results of the analysis, the effectiveness of the Focusing group program for elderly depression is examined and suggestions are provided for further program improvements and applications.

What Gift and to Whom? : Choosing a Gift Based on Psychological Distance (누구에게? 어떤 선물을? : 선물 선택 시 심리적 거리를 중심으로)

  • In this study, we investigate which alternatives to choose when giving a gift, according to the giver's relationship with the receiver. In particular, we study which alternatives are preferred when the prices are approximately the same: products with high-brand status but low-model ranking or products with low-brand status but high-model ranking. Leclerc, Hsee, and Nunes(2005) conceptualized the relative preference between a low-ranking model of a high-status brand and a high racking model of a low-status brand. The category effect is the preference for lower-ranking models of high-status brands. Meanwhile, the ranking effect refers to the preference for higher-ranking models of low-ranking brands. Based on construal level theory, the current study suggests that the category and ranking effects vary depending on the giver's relationship (vertical vs. horizontal) and intimacy (distant vs. close) with the person who will receive the gift. We manipulate the relationship and intimacy of the subject receiving the gift and verify the interaction effect. Results reveal that the giver exhibited a category effect in vertical relationships in which the psychological distance was far from the relationship. However, the ranking effect was found in horizontal relationships in which the psychological distance was close. Lastly, the gift selection significantly depends on the level. Overall, this study showed that when choosing a gift, the selection of a low-ranking model of a product from a high-tier brand or a high-ranking model from a low-tier brand might vary depending on the type of relationship and the level of intimacy. In addition, our findings provided managerial implications in targeting and marketing communication strategies based on product status.

Temporal Stability of Wearer′s Impression Effect - The Accent of Garment Category, Fashion-Level and Wearer′s Body Type - (착용자 인상효과의 시간적 안정성 -의복범주, 유행성, 착용자의 체형 변인을 중심으로 -)

  • The purposes of the study were to investigate the effect of garment category, fashion-level and wearer's body type on the basis of temporal stability and to extend the contextual framework. The result was as follows 1) On the basis of temporal stability, Korean style, classic style, and large body type have more temporal stability than western style, fashionable style, normal body type. 2) On the basis of temporal stability of impression dimension, impression of appearance knave most temporal stability, next good-bad, next evaluation, next potency, and sociability. 3) In an interaction effect between measuring time and impression of evaluation, western, fashionable, classic style have the greatest interaction effect. In an interaction effect between measuring time and impression of appearance, western style, normal body type have the greatest interaction effect. In an interaction effect between measuring time and impression of good-bad, western, fashionable style have the greatest interaction effect. It is concluded that the results support the context framework on impression formation.

Change of Extracellular Glutamate Level in Striatum during Deep Brain Stimulation of the Entopeduncular Nucleus in Rats

  • Objective : Globus pallidus interna (GPi) is acknowledged as an essential treatment for advanced Parkinson's disease (PD). Nonetheless, the neurotransmitter study about its results is undiscovered. The goal of this research was to examine influences of entopeduncular nucleus (EPN) stimulation, identical to human GPi, in no-lesioned (NL) rat and 6-hydroxydopamine (6-HD)-lesioned rat on glutamate change in the striatum. Methods : Extracellular glutamate level changes in striatum of NL category, NL with deep brain stimulation (DBS) category, 6-HD category, and 6-HD with DBS category were examined using microdialysis and high-pressure liquid chromatography. Tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) immunoreactivities in substantia nigra and striatum of the four categories were also analyzed. Results : Extracellular glutamate levels in the striatum of NL with DBS category and 6-HD with DBS category were significantly increased by EPN stimulation compared to those in the NL category and 6-HD category. EPN stimulation had no significant effect on the expression of TH in NL or 6-HD category. Conclusion : Clinical results of GPi DBS are not only limited to direct inhibitory outflow to thalamus. They also include extensive alteration within basal ganglia.

  • This study explores factors to facilitate web-based collaborative learning and the effect of learning, based on the PBL(Problem Based Learning) from the constructivist approach in e-learning. A research model, using the key variables such as situations, interactions, and systems, was developed. In order to test this proposed model, experimental design and post-survey was conducted to the learners who took on-line and off-line course with team project. In the research model, situation category was divided into instructor's support, unstructured problem, and self-directed learning. Interaction category was divided into three factors; 'interaction between learners', 'interaction between learner and instructor', and 'interaction between learner and technology'. System category was divided into.monitoring and incentives. As a result, it was found that collaborative learning can be improved by situations, interactions, and systems, and the effectiveness of learning can be improved by situations and interactions in PBL.

The Effect of the Child Care Center Director's Transformational Leadership on the Organizational Commitment of the Child Care Teachers (보육시설장의 변혁적 리더십이 보육교사의 조직몰입에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the child care center director's transformational leadership on the organizational committment of the child care teachers. The research subjects were 292 child care teachers who worked in 43 facilities of the eastern part of Jeon Nam Province. The data analysis was performed by using SPSS Win 15.0 Program. The results of this study were as follows. First, the teachers rated the transformational leadership of the director as 2.39 points in a scale of 5 points which was recognized as a normal level. Among the transformational leadership categories, the category of vision setting was the highest and the category of setting an example was the lowest. Second, the level of organizational committment of the teachers is rated 3.70 points in a scale of 5 points. Among the organizational commitment categories, the category of normative committment was the highest and followed by the category of affective and continuance commitment. More transformational leadership was related to more organizational commitment from teachers.
