Study on seismic performance of connection joint between prefabricated prestressed concrete beams and high strength reinforcement-confined concrete columns

  • As the common cast-in-place construction works fails to meet the enormous construction demand under rapid economic growth, the development of prefabricated structure instead becomes increasingly promising in China. For the prefabricated structure, its load carrying connection joint play a key role in maintaining the structural integrity. Therefore, a novel end plate bolt connecting joint between fully prefabricated pre-stressed concrete beam and high-strength reinforcement-confined concrete column was proposed. Under action of low cycle repeated horizontal loadings, comparative tests are conducted on 6 prefabricated pre-stressed intermediate joint specimens and 1 cast-in-place joint specimen to obtain the specimen failure modes, hysteresis curves, skeleton curves, ductility factor, stiffness degradation and energy dissipation capacity and other seismic indicators, and the seismic characteristics of the new-type prefabricated beam-column connecting joint are determined. The test results show that all the specimens for end plate bolt connecting joint between fully prefabricated pre-stressed concrete beam and high-strength reinforcement-confined concrete column have realized the design objectives of strong column weak beam. The hysteretic curves for specimens are good, indicating desirable ductility and energy dissipation capacity and seismic performances, and the research results provide theoretical basis and technical support for the promotion and application of prefabricated assembly frames in the earthquake zone.

  • 밤콩 사장교는 메콩강 삼각주 지역 연결 사업의 일환으로 메콩강 하류의 꾸롱 삼각주에 위치하고 있으며, 중앙경간 450m의 사장교로 설계되었다. 왕복 4차선으로 구성된 강합성 보강형과 멀티 스트랜드 방식의 케이블을 적용하였으며, 개선된 H형 주탑과 현장타설 콘크리트 말뚝 기초로 구성되어 있다. 주탑, 프리캐스트 콘크리트 바닥판 그리고 현장타설 콘크리트 말뚝에는 고강도 콘크리트를 적용하여 구조적 안정성을 확보하였다. 본 고에서는 밤콩 사장교의 설계에 적용된 설계기준 및 주요 설계 특징을 설명하고자 한다.

Resistance of Cementitious Binders against a Fall in the pH at Corrosion Initiation

  • At the onset of corrosion of steel in concrete, hydrogen ions usually evolve in the process of electrochemical reaction, thereby decreasing the pH of the pore solution, which can be buffered by cement hydration products, as being representatively illustrated by calcium hydroxide. Hence, a fall in the pH is dependent on properties of cement hydration (i.e. hydration products and degree of hydration). The present study tested acid neutralization capacity (ANC) of cementitious binders of OPC(Ordinary Portland Cement), 30% PFA(Pulverized Fuel Ash), 60% GGBS(Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag), 10% SF(Silica Fume) to quantify the resistance of cement matrix to a pH fall. Cement pastes were cast at 0.4 of a free W/C ratio with 1.5% chlorides by weight of binder in cast. Powder samples obtained crushed and ground specimen after 200 days of curing were diluted in still water combined with different levels of 1M nitric acid solution, ranging from 0.5 to 20 mol/kg. Then, the pH of diluted solution was monitored until any further change in the pH did not take place. It was seen that the pH of the diluted solution gradually decreased as the molar amount of nitric acid increased. At some particular values of the pH, however, a decrease in the pH was marginal, which can be expressed in the peak resistances to a pH fall in the ANC curve. The peaks occurred at the variations in the pH, depending on binder type, but commonly at about 12.5 in the pH, indicate a resistance of precipitated calcium hydroxide. The measurement of water soluble chloride at the end of test showed that the amount of free chloride was significantly increased at the pH corresponding to the peaks in the ANC curve, which may reflect the adsorption of hydration products to chlorides.

영구 내부거푸집을 이용한 현장타설 콘크리트 채움중공 PC기둥의 반복횡가력실험 (Cyclic Lateral Loading Test for Cast-In-Place Concrete-Filled Hollow PC Columns Using Permanent Inner form)

  • 대형 PC기둥의 양중부하를 줄이고 접합부의 구조일체성을 개선하기 위한 대안으로서, 중공 PC기둥이 사용될 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 PC부의 생산성과 구조일체성을 개선한 새로운 중공 PC기둥을 개발하였다. PC부를 제작하기 위하여 구조용 골형플레이트를 내부영구거푸집과 수평 관통철근을 사용하였다. 제안된 PC기둥의 내진성능을 검증하기 위하여, 1/2 스케일의 기둥 실험체 4개에 대하여 일정 축력에서 반복 횡가력실험을 수행하였다. 실험 변수로는 횡철근 간격, 강섬유 사용여부, 그리고 PC부의 두께가 고려되었다. 실험 결과, 제안된 PC기둥은 외곽 PC부의 취성적인 파괴 없이 우수한 하중재하능력과 변형능력을 보이는 것으로 나타났다. PC부에 횡철근을 촘촘히 배근하거나 강섬유를 사용할 경우, PC 콘크리트의 탈락을 제한하여 변형능력을 증가시킬 수 있었다.

대형 상수관로 노후상태 조사 및 평가에 관한 연구 (Investigation and Assessment of the Deterioration on Aging Large Water Mains)

  • The current conditions of large water mains are evaluated by deteriorations and the causes of deterioration are investigated through visual assessments in the field, mechanical tests and analysis of chemical compositions in laboratory for each pipe material, unlined cast iron pipes (CIPs), ductile iron pipes (DCIPs) and steel pipes (SPs) Tubercles and scales from internal and external corrosion of unlined cast iron pipes were identified as the causes of functional performance limitations in large water mains. It is investigated that main causes of internal and external corrosion of water pipes are from lots of depositions of organic and inorganic substances on pipe surface, concentrated pitting, and uniform corrosion by local or global exfoliation or detachment of lining and coatings of DCIPs and SPs. Internal and external corrosion depths of CIPs were higher than those of DCIPs and SPs. Consequently, total corrosion rate summed internal and external corrosion rates of CIPs also were shown to be higher than those of DCIPs and SPs. The failure time from hole generation of CIPs by total corrosion rate was predicted to be taken sixteen years, and DCIPs and SPs were twenty-six years and one hundred and fifty three years. And longitudinal deflection of investigated water mains were not happened and mechanical strengths such as tensile strength, elongation, and hardness also were mostly suited to Korea Standards. It was thought that the weakness of tensile strength of one sample(S-11) was, however, due to higher carbon contents(%) in CIPs. Pipe deterioration score of S-46 was 55.2 and was preferentially assessed to be rehabilitated.

김포 양촌유적 출토 원삼국시대 철부에 적용된 제작기술 검토 (Study on the Manufacturing Technology Applied on Iron Axes of Proto-Three Kingdoms excavated from Yangchon, Gimpo)

  • 원삼국시대에 속하는 경기도 김포시 양촌유적에서 출토된 단조철부 5점과 주조철부 1점을 대상으로 미세조직 관찰과 비금속개재물 분석을 실시하였다. 단조품에 사용된 소재는 순철에 가까운 소재와 저탄소강이 사용되었고 성형 후 1점에만 담금질을 하였다. 주조품은 주철을 탈탄시킨 미세조직이 보여 주철탈탄 제강법이 적용된 것을 확인하였다. 비금속개재물 분석결과 철부는 고체저온환원법으로 제련하여 생산된 괴련철을 두드려서 제작하였다. FeO 함량이 $SiO_2$에 비해 비교적 높게 나타나 제련 시 노의 온도가 환원에 충분하지 못해 Fe의 회수율이 적었던 것으로 보이며 이 과정에서 광물에 포함된 K, P, Mg, Mn, Ti 등 불순물이 혼입되었다. Ca 함량이 높게 검출되는 곳이 있어 일부는 조제제로 석회물질을 넣었던 것으로 추정된다.

고강도 오세템퍼주강의 기계적성질에 미치는 열처리 영향 (Effect of Heat Treatment on the Mechanical Properties of High Strengths Austempered Cast Steel)

  • The study was investigated on the effect of austenitizing and austempering conditions on retained austenite amount and carbon contents in retained austenite and simultaneously the effect of these variation on hardness, tensile and impact properties. A material of as-cast condition is composed of bull's eye structure with ferrite surrounding spheroidized graphite having about $5-10{\mu}m$ size and matrix structure of pearlite. Then, the contents of spheroidized graphite was about 5%. The retained austenite and carbon contents in the retained austenite were increased with the increasing of austenitizing and austempering temperatures, while the retained austenite showed the peak value and is decreased with increasing of austempering time. With increasing of austenitizing temperature, tensile strength, elongation and impact absorb energy increased and hardness was almost not changed, while with increasing of austempering temperature, tensile strength and hardness decreased, whereas elongation and impact absorb energy was increased. With increasing of retained austenite amount, the tensile strength is slowly decreased but elongation was increased with direct proportion. Also, Impact absorb energy is shown identity value untile about 18%, but rapidly increased above it. Elongation and Impact absorb energy are strongly controlled by the amount of retained austenite, but tensile strength is affected with various factors such as retained austenite amount and bainitic morphology.

주강의 유화물 형태와 편석에 대한 연구 (I) (Fe-FeS 합금의 제조와 유화물 형태 관찰) (Morphology and Segregation of Sulfide Inclusions in Cast Steels (I) (A Fabrication of Fe-FeS Alloys and the Observation of Their Sulfide Morphology))

  • In order to investigate the microstructural morphology of the sulfide expected from the Fe-FeS phase diagram, a vacuum-sealed quartz tube where pure iron (99.9%) and sulfur (99.99%) powders were charged was heated upto $1000^{\circ}C$ in the electric resistance furnace, held for 96 hours and quenched in cold water and then, rod specimen was produced. Compositional difference of the sulfur between upper and lower parts of the rod was 7.5wt.% and segregation of the sulfur was gradually increased from the lower part to the upper one of the rod. The rod specimen was divided into three parts by the microstructural morphology of the sulfide. The upper part of the rod specimen revealed single phase FeS intermetallic. In the middle part of the specimen, hyper-eutectic microstructure where primary FeS was precipitated first and then, eutectic of $\alpha$-Fe and FeS was formed in the inter-dendritic region of the FeS. Especially, hypo-eutectic microstructure was appeared in the lower part of the specimen. After primary dendrite of $\alpha$-Fe solidified, FeS dendrite which included small amount of $\alpha$-Fe and FeS eutectic in the inter-dendritic region was formed.

Strength and durability of concrete in hot spring environments

  • In this paper an experimental study of the influence of hot springs curing upon concrete properties was carried out. The primary variables of the investigation include water-to-binder ratio (W/B), pozzolanic material content and curing condition. Three types of hot springs, in the range $40-90^{\circ}C$, derived from different regions in Taiwan were adopted for laboratory testing of concrete curing. In addition, to compare with the laboratory results, compressive strength and durability of practical concrete were conducted in a tunnel construction site. The experimental results indicate that when concrete comprising pozzolanic materials was cured by a hot spring with high temperature, its compressive strength increased rapidly in the early ages due to high temperature and chloride ions. In the later ages, the trend of strength development decreased obviously and the strength was even lower than that of the standard cured one. The results of durability test show that concrete containing 30-40% Portland cement replacement by pozzolanic materials and with W/B lower than 0.5 was cured in a hot spring environment, then it had sufficient durability to prevent steel corrosion. Similar to the laboratory results, the cast-inplace concrete in a hot spring had a compressive strength growing rapidly at the earlier age and slowly at the later age. The results of electric resistance and permeability tests also show that concrete in a hot spring had higher durability than those cured in air. In addition, there was no neutralization reaction being observed after the 360-day neutralization test. This study demonstrates that the concrete with enough compressive strength and durability is suitable for the cast-in-place structure being used in hot spring areas.

A487 주강품의 C 및 Cr/Mo 함량 변화에 따른 기계적 및 부식 특성 (Mechanical and Corrosion Properties of A487 Cast with Different C and Cr/Mo Contents)

  • The effect of different C and Cr/Mo contents, which were varied within the range allowed in the relevant specification, on the mechanical and corrosion properties of A487 alloy cast steel were examined. The increase in strength level with increasing C content and the decrease in strength along with the increase in tensile elongation with decreasing Cr/Mo contents were observed in A487 alloys with different C and Cr/Mo contents. At room temperature, the decrease in Cr/Mo content was beneficial in improving the impact properties of A487 alloy, with no notable difference in absorbed energy with varying C content. The impact properties of A487 alloy at $-60^{\circ}C$, on the other hand, greatly improved with the increase in C and the decrease in Cr/Mo contents. The corrosion behavior of A487 alloys in 3.5% NaCl solution did not show any meaningful change with different C and Cr/Mo contents.
