This study examines what the resort hotel user's requirements with the inauguration of 5 working days are. For that, the present conditions, concepts, principles, development history and examples of the domestic resort hotel were researched. Also the field survey on the real users was carried out, asking what the problems are in using the domestic resort hotel. These research materials can be utilized for the practice application on the planning of the resort hotel with the analyzing each available spaces. In the survey result, the point on the rooms which are considered as the most important aspect for the profits of the hotel got high grade, but the rest which are not related with the profits directly was revealed to get quiet low grade. This result shows the problems which must be improved considering the fact that the actual purpose of resort hotel is the lesuire and rest. Not only the convinience in using each facilities and the contentment in the aspect of room design, but the connection between the spaces will be considered in the planning on the constructing the spaces of future resort hotel.

The blur phenomenon obscuring the boundary between the field of designers and that of users may be the key paradigm in the 21st century. However, we observed a number of chair design cases that could be considered as the results of blur pheonomenon in the furniture design field from mid 1960s. The backgrounds include the repulsion against the uniform functionalism, deliberation on the life in the future and the development of plastic materials and their processing methods. Under such backgrounds, the designers pursued the new and futuristic furniture design. In that process, what is about the "freedom" that the consumers as well as the designers should have in using the furniture was the important concept. This concept enabled the creation of chair design inducing the participation of consumers. They created various kinds of shapes, functions and structures that the consumers became interested in as if they had fun with toy blocks by mainly using the new material "plastic". In a formative aspect, the entire shape is classified into the organic shape and geometric shape. The unit types are divided into two kinds; type that the unit of simple shape is repeated only with size difference and irregular combination type of the units comprised of more than two shapes. In the functional aspect, some cases showed the transformation and expansion of the function more variously. Other cases changed the function of chairs to tables, cabinets, or objects. In the structural aspect, on the basis of the method assembling each unit, one method is to assemble using the hardware and the other is to assemble only with intrinsic units of chair. The chair design created by the blur phenomenon between the designers and the users as described above causes the blur phenomenon between the furniture and the space where the furniture is installed. Accordingly, it is expanding the furniture design sphere including the case that the furniture is not selected as the rifle article depending on the characteristics of interior space but it becomes the element leading the characteristics of space. This study aims to estimate the change of interior space and the furniture that my cause the blur phenomenon by examining the cases above appropriate for the paradigm of the 21st century. Furthermore, this study will enable the discussion oil the directions of future furniture design based on its results.

The recent works of architecture and interior design take on too various aspects to be classified as a trend or tendency. Many subjects, seeking the superiority between form and function in space which was the issue of Modernism, got to face the works which transcend the limitation of architecture due to the development of a variety of media and technology these days. In result, we could see the works which are to be Included into the category of art rather than architecture. This study starts from the thought that the common aspects of these works are based on the strangeness to pursue uniqueness, peculiarities or novelty. 'The subject of this study, $'D\acute{e}paysement'$, creates a new relation, disconnected from customs, to an architecture which became familiar through defragment, fixation and abstraction by the habitual relation and makes it reborn as an architecture which gives us a fantasy and a pleasure, by converting into the shape and image which are different from its original shape when a stimulus is given to an architecture. This study starts from the artistic aspect which has a close correlation with the architecture. The subject, $'D\acute{e}paysement'$ could be historically considered in two aspects - $D\acute{e}paysement$ of Surrealism which developed in paintings and Defamiliarization of Russian Formalism in the area of literature. This study is carried in a category of $D\acute{e}paysement$, focusing on the visual aspect of the architecture. This study is composed as follows: In chapter 2, a theoretical research is performed according to the definition and meaning of the $D\acute{e}paysement$ expression techniques, its origination and evolution, and type classification by the features of expression techniques in the era of Surrealism when $D\acute{e}paysement$ developed most vigorously in the area of art. In chapter 3, the system which formalizes the expression method of the techniques is presented, focusing on the case analysis of the artistic works according to the types of $D\acute{e}paysement$. In chapter 4, the application of the expression techniques of $D\acute{e}paysement$ is discussed by conducting cases analysis of the modern interior design.

Within residential high-rise market there are many value determining factors. Site condition, view, program, units and structure are important parameters that are directly related to the financial aspect of the project. However, most of the studies of high-rise building design focus on the facade and the shape strategies from an esthetic point of view without considering these factors. The objective of this study is to investigate new design approach that incorporates site, program and structural information at an early stage as a generator of building form and explore a wide range of strategies to negotiate these factors in the process of design/decision making. Not being based on designer's subjective preference or style, architects still can create interesting building design through integration and negotiation of various building information. Since this form is based on real data, not just play of form, we can expect that this form has great potential to be developed into real one at the later design phase.

The existential space concept which introduced the sense of place that began emerging recently together with the change of space concept results from people's fundamental existential humane aspect as the subject of perceptive experience. The tendencies of enlargement layering and diversification which we can see in contemporary architecture imply the possibility that elements of urban image can be incorporated into interior design. This study utilizes Kevin Lynch's theory which tries to relate environment to existential space. In this study we re-analyze and apply Lynch's $\ulcorner$the Theory of Urban Image$\lrcorner$to interior space and using the conclusion from a case study examine the applicability of the theory about visual perception to interior design. This study considers a new method of analysis to perceive and grasp interior space through the understanding of the cognitive map and image concept.

This subject is about the research of Shanghai Art Deco in the aspect of architectural decoration and seek to offers an examination and analysis of the characteristics related to the Art Deco design, which appeared and dominated the field of design from 1910s to 1904s in Shanghai. Study method is a theoretical consideration of reference and gathering data through field trip. In order to carry out this subject, this study will research following factors. First, factors related to Art Deco such as the period of origin, background, spirit, aesthetics, design characteristics. This is followed by the influence of Art Deco movement begun in 1925. Second, the background of Shanghai Art Deco architecture style was studied. Third, the case studies of Shanghai Art Deco Architecture and interior decoration were researched by the expressive factors which were divided by style, form, material and color. As a result early style had compradore style about 1900, later reactionism prevailed of 1920 affected by European Art Deco. Skyscraper style was built and architecture developed with racial characteristics. It has vertical and streamline form of typical Art Deco and strengthen geometrical motive in architectural expression. It appeared naturally and has the contrast of different material in material expression. It has effect on strong color as using highborn and brilliant color in color expression. They appeared chinese national spirit by using 'ot painting' in western oriented furniture. The purpose of such an examination is to classify, understand and validate Shanghai artistic and socio-cultural heritage in order to better appreciate the life philosophy of Shanghai and re-discover their basic roots. Though it began as a Western cultural movement, it is the purpose of this study to discover the inherent orientalism in its basic formative spirit.

The purpose of this study is to examine the physical characteristics of the detached housing area in the housing site development district. The process of this study is to investigate the characteristics of the physical structure and the building use, then to analyze the relationship of physical structure and the building use in the aspect of the morphological characteristics. The case study focuses on the Chil-kok2, An-Siml in Taegu. The streets pattern is composited gird and loop type mixed. The block is composited by 2 lots in general. But the obscurity of organization and character of the streets, the size and shape of lots which is not fit to the building use. A whole residential characters appears high residential density ratio. so residential environment became worse. The improving level of residential environment and efficiency of land use in the detached housing area of the housing site development district, firstly the propriety of the physical structure must be considered about detached house characters, and the housing uses which fit to the physical structure are needed, and also for the concrete realization of this, the designation of district, the zoning of residential area, the guideline of the district design, and establishment of comprehensive master planning in detached housing area are needed in aspect of the housing policy. As the result of this study, it suggests several design guideline to improve housing site development.

This study is interested in how philological interpretation of a space text were patterned so as to give the text structural cohesion. A similar philological motivation incorporates some of the notions of generative grammar. Interpretation is the process of recovering the cultural meanings expressed in discourse by analysing the linguistic structures in the light of their interactional and wider social contexts. Viewed in this light, the process of this study is illustrated as follows: At first, this research contains basic concepts of signification of text and context, and theories of spacial text and context of typological structure in terms of Ricoeur's structural Hermeneutics. Secondly, it concretize a logic that traditional space context is inserted in organized attribute like emotion, spirit, nature as character of contemporary space text through typological structure. Finally, from aspect of designation theory among interpretive semantics, it shows that korean contemporary space design is incorporated with typological structure of korean traditional palace spacial context homologically through the case study of I-Hotel space design. Through this process, this study suggest that positivistic interpretation methodology by designation of text is logical thinking of Korean traditional space design.

Purpose: Various studies to solve the problem of increased energy consumption in the buildings are being carried out recently. Especially, the economic feasibility and insulation performance of the air-cap have been verified so that various studies regarding the reduction of building energy consumption have been carried out. However, previous studies regarding the air-cap were only carried out based on the verification of its insulation performance according to the size and attachment position of the air-cap. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to suggest a detachable air-cap module for improving the performance of the windows, evaluate the performance based on cooling, heating and light environments and verify its effectiveness through a real-scale testbed. Method: In this study, the energy saving performance in the circumstance where there is no attachment of an air-cap (Case 1), the circumstance where there is the attachment of air-cap on the glass surface of window (Case 2) and the circumstance where there is the attachment of an air-cap on the window frame (Case 3) were compared in order to verify the performance of the detachable air-cap module (Case 4), and the electricity consumption of cooling, heating and lighting equipment to maintain the appropriate indoor temperature and Illuminance for each case was calculated and utilized as indicators for the performance evaluation. Result: The result of this study is as follows. 1) In this study, the detachable air-cap module which was easily detachable through the principle of the magnet was suggested. 2) When Case 4 is applied, the electricity consumption of cooling and heating equipment can be reduced by 27.5%, 13.2% and 3.4% in comparison with Case 1, Case 2 and Case 3 respectively. 3) When the air-cap is applied to the window, the lighting energy consumption increases by 4 % in comparison to the non application of the air-cap, and this factor or aspect should be considered when applying the air-cap. 4) According to the performance evaluation result in consideration of cooling, heating and light environments, Case 4 demonstrates an energy saving ratio of 22.6%, 10.6% and 2.7% in comparison to Case 1, Case 2 and Case 3 respectively, indicating that it is effective for improving the performance of windows.

Though the physical environment of life through technological evolution has rapidly improved, the quality of life due to a variety of undesirable environmental issues has been seriously damaging. This study has tried to suggest the positive & sustainable direction of space design which can contribute to improving the quality of human lives by reviving 'place property' which a site itself has, trying to analyze the recycling space which the sustainability has been applied to in a true sense. For this cause, we've tried to draw four 'methods of realizing place property' such as meeting a site, understanding a site, finding the identity of a site, and adding novelty to a site through advanced research. I've tried to suggest the design direction for reviving space which can relieve the artificial aspect of design with pursuing the co-existence with nature on the foundation of realizing 'place property' through case analysis selected on the basis of this, and can express the 'sustainability' through environment-friendly space structures & high efficiency of its function.
