This study theoretically investigated the conceptional and technical aspect of participatory design as an approaching scheme for participatory design in community This study operated a case study in an senior hall which is expected to be the important institution for future aging society This study discussed the tool's potentialities after investigating technique's developments and usefulness. The main result of study is as follows 1) Conceptual approachment for participatory design in community starts with the attitude of designers establishing moral, philosophical and social sense of value as the mediator in city and region. And proceed the design in the method of mediating the opinion with the members of the community and the government. 2) The technical approachment should be more concentrated with the method of making the members interested and treat the rationalized process and proceedings more important. And develop this as a tool which Is easily understandable, more convenient when working, and has a adaptability in application. 3) The given technique in case study is produced with the data of demanded rooms, preferred image, priority, and room-layout game, and verified it's usefulness by analyzing and discussing of process and technique, and this technique can be useful after specific complement work as a result.

The modifiable design of clothes is significant in that a single garment can be presented in various ways and can be modified by user adjustments as well different kinds of figurative beauty can be expressed through the garment. This study departmentalized the case of knitwear in the modifiable design of clothes to propose a possibility of a variable knit fashion that makes the most of the knit characteristics. This study investigated precedent research, arranged general terms, created fundamental notions, found the background of the advent, and located specific characters in the modifiable design as well as arranged a concept, type, structure, and traits for the knit. The following results were obtained through this study. First, the modifiable design of the clothes can express the change of the silhouette and the change of the item itself or a change in the item according to the change in the mode of wearing, manipulation, and technology. Second, the results show that modifiable knit designs by open & close are mostly used according to manipulation and have no existence in this study according to the technology. Third, there was a noticeable appearance of a modifiable knit design from 2002 to 2004. However, it was increased again in 2009 after a steady decrease in 2005 and 2008. Finally, it can create effects in several dresses in the visual aspect and functional aspect.

The purpose of this study was to identify the reasonable gathering conditions as consider of effect of gathering and variation of silhouette made by gathering conditions. The experimental design consists of four factorial design: (1) three kinds of different weight and different thickness fabrics (2) three kinds of different stitch densities (3) five kinds of different ratio of gathers (4) three kinds of different angles. Therefore one hundred thirty five (135) samples were made. Data analysis utilize SPSS WIN 10.0 Package. The results of this study were as follows: 1. In the aspect of fabrics, it is shown the visual propriety that it is as thin as the small stitch, and as thick as the big stitch. 2. As stitch densities, it shows the different stabilized nodes. 3. In the aspect of ratio of gathers, it is shown the visual propriety that a few was small stitches, which help formations of nodes, and a lot were big stitches, which help increased the effect of gather. 4. In the aspect of angle of bias, the drape appearance was excellent as a sample of cutting by 0 angle(0$^{\circ}$) of bias. The big stitches that help formations of stabilized nodes, and a case of cutting by 45 angle(45$^{\circ}$) of bias was small stitch.

The purpose of this study is to suggest more specific method to express art connected to the factor of fashion design by classifying fashion case combined with contemporary art, which is expressed through visual factor of fashion, analyzing exchange phenomenon, trend and change aspect of art and fashion and researching its expression type under the background of art preference phenomenon of contemporary art. From the result of measuring the frequency of contemporary art type, it was found that various types and artists' works were applied to fashion industry. Therefore, the scope of contemporary art, which is used for fashion, is being enlarged and new type is appearing every year continuously. Especially, its frequency was highest in 2008 S/S. In addition, it was found that it was more frequent in S/S season rather than in F/W season. From the result of analyzing expression method of contemporary art inspiration shown in fashion by classifying it into structure aspect, print aspect and 3D decoration aspect, in most cases, the contemporary art was used as a print or pattern for dress or accessory. The print aspect could be divided into geometric abstraction pattern, expressional abstract pattern, trompe-l'oeil pattern, graffiti pattern, picture image pattern and cartoon pattern in detail.

As patients prefer large scale hospitals recently, the interior design of general hospitals are conspicuously improving. In the past, most patients visit hospitals to get treatment on diseases; however, recently patients visiting hospitals for the early prevention of disease is rapidly increasing. Accordingly, contemporary hospitals should meet the wish of patients who want to get medical service in more clean and comfortable environment. The existing studies on hospital interior design were mostly limited on analyzing the functionality of each space; however, studies on the interior design of common use space, which is open to all hospital users, are required now. Accordingly, this study classified the common use space in contemporary general hospitals into lobby space, corridor space, waiting space and resting space. The interior design characteristics of each space were classified into; connectivity with external environment, level change by void, introduction of natural elements, dynamics of space and variety of color. Then a case analysis was done by selecting 12 common use spaces in overseas general hospitals. According to the analysis result, the interior design characteristics were more conspicuous in the sequence of corridor space, lobby space, resting space and waiting space. The interior design elements such as overall space arrangement and material-finishing were relatively acceptable; however, the aspect of a user's environmental behavior, in other words, the psychological aspect, which can lead a patient to natural healing, was relatively insufficient. It is believed that an in-depth interior design focusing on practical users would enable various spatial behaviors. It is hoped that this study would be a help to the interior design of domestic general hospitals as a guideline.

Nowadays, we make an attempt for media conversion from old to new media, carrying out to information society. These changes to new media are considered as new threat to printing media. New means such as CAD(Computer Aided Publishing), on-line novel and webzine can be regarded as new media and we are confronted with need of new changes in the field of printing media because of the trend of the present. It suggests that the origin of commodity competitiveness depends on the ability of cultural Contents using design. Cultural commodity is considered as strategy concepts in the more specific and realistic aspect than in the aspect of industrialization. This study introduce the case of Cellpark Co.,Ltd. which has successfully developed commodity design of World-cup cultural contents as a creating tools of innovative value connecting existed design method based on printing media with new method. This study gave the case which created Blue Ocean market through new expression method of design, products protection of contents design by patent registration, and licensing which many design firms often overlook.

Most of us spend the greater part of our lives at the chair, but of all the man environments it is maybe the least well-explored share commitment to a cleaner and healthier environment. It has long been chairs belief that the environment is a precious gift. In case of mesh chair, because it depend upon the earth's resources to design and manufacture steel furniture products, human beings feel an abiding responsibility to act wisely in the environmental choices we make, large and small, every day. Ergonomically, it ought to do more than just sit there. It should actively intercede for the health of the person who sits in it longer than it should. Therefore, product design should be approachable to satisfaction of end-users in aspect of value engineering easy to move through analysis of cost reduction factors the purpose of this thesis is to study products for users based on office chair to development of design for office chair by analysis of manufacturing status and methods and problems in Korea through research on actual situation as well as changing process ergonomic study and design of office chair.

The purpose of this study is to express visual and functional diversity through modifiable design, and to suggest a methodological model. With this view, this study was aimed to departmentalize the case of knitwear in modifiable design of clothes and propose the possibility of variable knit fashion through make the most of knit's characteristics. Four wearable physical clothes using the most of flexible knits' characteristics were made for this study based on the modifiable design on the expressive tendency and analysis of plasticity. The following results were obtained. First, as modifiable knit design can create effects of several dresses in visual aspect and functional aspect, so it has practicality and functionality. Because modifiable clothes required wearer's participation, this have amusement that give enjoyment and freshness to wearer. Second, in mode of wearing, flexibility of knit is suitable character to open & close and change of wearing position. In manipulation, a prearranged plan for line of clothes and good choice of subsidiary materials are important. Third, the characteristics of knits allow using and mixing with different pattern and materials on the two sides of the same cloths except for the some of the parts. Moreover, there is no unraveled thread on the part of knits margin against woven, so it has the broad applicable range for the changeable design. Finally, the form and function, a prearranged plan for modifiable design of clothes have all contributed in creating new structure and patterns in design.

Currently, brand apartment is positioning itself as one of the representative Korean housing. This allows to look into the planning side and cultural side of the Korean housing. The purpose of this study is to review the previous trend in apartment housing according to period, and to verify the trend of current Korean apartment housing by visiting the model houses in PanGyo, the new city. This study has chosen case study method of 11 cases which had been sorted out in different floor plan type and size. The findings of the study is as followed. In the aspect of spatial arrangement, it had been similar to the previous apartment plan but had a new attempt to break out from the old apartment structure by bring in round shaped living room. Also, due to the legalization of balcony expansion, various tries had been made to increase the level of function and to allow variety of usage. In the environmental aspect, the concept of wellbeing and health had been a great importance in apartment planning. In the digital aspect, various digital systems had been introduce for convenience and safety via home network system. Furthermore, based on the various lifestyle, the storytelling design concept applied in the interior design, which will have to effect the future model house design planning. Nonetheless, the current emphasis on universal design is expected to be treated one of the important concept in Korean apartment planning. This study has a significant meaning on readdressing current trend in Korean housing and to provide informations for future directions on Korean apartment planning.

Ubiquitous technology is currently being introduced to libraries at the fastest speed as compared to other spaces. However, the introduction of ubiquitous technology to the existing analog space is causing problems despite such intelligence of libraries as the design standards for ubiquitous spaces have not been arranged yet. This researcher analyzed and evaluated the characteristics of design from the ubiquitous aspect of the ubiquitous environment-oriented libraries that are still at their initial stage. The subjects for this study were the National Library of Korea, Myongji University Bangmok Library, and Yonsei University Library. The definition and characteristics of the ubiquitous environment libraries were examined through literature review and the standards for design analysis were derived by analyzing previous studies. Case analyses were conducted to evaluate the design elements in the ubiquitous environment libraries based on the field observation, photographing, and interviews with managers. As a result, functionality, safety, cognition and convenience were derived based on the investigation and analysis of previous studies; informativeness, playfulness, security, and simplicity which are the design characteristics were found. As a result of the case studies, while functionality and safety are met in most of the standards for design analysis, universality was very low. Care for minorities is need in a library as it is a space used by many unspecified individuals.
