This paper deals with a continuous review (s,S) spare part inventory system. The distributions of service life of each part and the replenishment lead time are assumed to be exponential. Assuming that there is never more than a single order outstanding, we obtain the average annual cost of operating the inventory system. If the length of stockout period is small enough to be neglected compared to the length of operating period, the optimal operating policy variables minimizing the cost rate can be calculated iteratively. For the case of one-for-one ordering (that is, s=S-1), an exact cost rate, and a closed form decision rule minimizing the cost rate are obtained for a more general situation in which more than one order is allowed to be outstanding and the distribution of the replenishment lead time is general.

Based on case studies from Japan and South Korea, this review paper explores the hidden costs of English language learning (ELL). In a context where English has become a commodity and ELL a form of consumption, we focus on the personal and social costs of (a) studying abroad as a much-touted path to "native-like" proficiency and (b) sexualization of language teaching materials in order to reach new niche markets. The hidden costs of ELL are embedded in language ideologies which set English up as a magical means of self-transformation and, at the same time, an unattainable goal for most Japanese and Koreans. We end with the call to expose debilitating language ideologies in order to shed light on the hidden costs of ELL.

Jarcho-Levin syndrome is a congenital disorder characterized by several vertebral and costal anomalies. Other abnormalities have also been described, including neural tube defects, Arnold-Chiari malformation, renal/urinary tract abnormalities, hydrocephalus, hydroureteronephrosis, and meningomyelocele. We describe a spondylocostal dysplasia form of Jarcho-Levin syndrome that was prenatally diagnosed at 11 weeks of gestation and surviving. Although the patient had sporadic-type Jarcho-Levin syndrome, with normal karyotype and no family history of disease, the assessment of inheritance patterns and genetic counseling for the parents was important to inform them about the potential risks.

Public information arrivals and their immediate incorporation in asset price is a key component of semi-strong form of the Efficient Market Hypothesis. In this study, we explore the impact of public information arrivals on cryptocurrency market via Twitter posts. The empirical analysis was conducted through various methods including Kapetanios unit root test, Maki cointegration analysis and Markov regime switching regression analysis. Results indicate that while in bull market positive public information arrivals have a positive influence on Ripple's value; in bear market, however, even if the company releases good news, it does not divert out the Ripple from downward trend.

Acute hepatitis A is a generally self-limiting disease of the liver. Acute renal failure is rare in patients with acute non-fulminant hepatitis A Acute tubular necrosis is the most common form of renal injury found in such patients. The 215 years old male patient visited our hospital with complaint of general weakness, fatigue, nausea, vomiting and myalgia. He was diagnosed with acute renal failure associated with acute non-fulminant hepatitis A We report here on a case of acute renal failure associated with non-fulminant hepatitis A, and we include a review of the literature.

Squamous cell carcinoma of the thyroid gland is an extremely rare primary neoplasm, comprising only 1.1% of all primary thyroid cancers. The cancer is characterized by rapidly progressive clinical course in spite of its differentiated morphologic feature. Histogenetic origin of the cancer has also been debated. In most cases, a squamous epithelium is believed to be a result of metaplasia of a follicullar epithelium, although in rare exceptions, it can originate from a remnant of the thyroglossal duct or ultimobrachial body. Squamous cell carcinoma of the thyroid can occur in a pure form or mixed with adenocarcinoma; the latter may be designated as adenoacanthoma. Because this lesion typically runs a fulminant course, radical surgical resection at the earliest opportunity offers the best hope for cure. The lesions are usually radioresistant, and chemotherapy has not been shown to alter the course of this disease. We experienced a case of squamous carcinoma of the thyroid. This report summarize our experience and review of the literatures.

Idiopathic scrotal calcinosis is rare entity, characterized by the presence of multiple, firm nodules within the dermis of scrotal skin. The lesions are evident as asymptomatic, round, firm, yellowish papules, from several millimeters up to 1 cm in diameter, with a tendency to occur symmetrically. Because polypoid formation of the calcified cysts is unusual in scrotal calcinosis, we report our experience of a case of scrotal calcinosis with cysts having polypoid appearence. A 34-year-old man was admitted to our department with painless, firm, widespread nodules within the scrotum. Patient started to have these lesions at puberty and progressed to a polypoid form over time. There was neither surgical nor medical treatment had been attempted before our treatment. Physical examination revealed localized polypoid cysts in addition to multiple small, firm nodules within the scrotal skin. No underlying anomalies were detected in the physical examination and laboratory analysis. We experienced the treatment of polypoid idiopathic scrotal calcinosis and a case is presented with the review of literatures.

This research worked on the cooperative case by Marc Jacobs, who was involved in innovative collaboration in the field of fashion, and the analysis on imbedded values. With assessment of it, this paper aims at providing the theoretical ground on prevalence of fashion collaboration for creative innovation and presenting the basic material in establishing the design and marketing in the fashion industry. In methodology, the review was followed up about literature regarding Marc Jacobs and collaboration and his cases in 2001 through 2012. Results showed that his collaboration cases could be divided into those with modern artist, those with fashion brand or designer, those with other field brand than fashion, and those with the public star. They were processed into such a form as development of new product and collection, shop display, and exhibition event. The value could be drawn from this case examination of Marc Jacobs' fashion collaboration, which includes the design innovation through reinterpretation of tradition, innovation of maximized brand value, and transboundary innovation toward a vast extension of realm. Namely, the collaboration of Marc Jacobs would be the driving force for design innovation and the creative process for both parties concerned through endless cooperation and would generate the innovative value for fashion field.

Ameloblastic carcinoma is a malignant form of ameloblastoma defined by histological evidence of malignancy in primary, recurrent, or metastatic tumor. Such a tumor is rare, and the maxilla is an unusual site. Due to its rarity, the characteristics of this tumor in the maxilla have not been well described. Case 1: A 55-year-old, ill-appearing Nigerian male presented to our center with left maxillary swelling of seven-year duration. The swelling had been slow-growing and painless until one year prior, when the growth became rapid and was coupled with severe pain. The swelling affected both oral function and facial esthetics, and the patient reported difficulty breathing. There was a maxillary, ulcerated swelling extending from teeth 12 to 18 and blocking the left nostril. The involved teeth were moderately mobile. Case 2: A 32-year-old male farmer presented with recurrent right maxillary swelling of six-year duration. Prior to this episode, he had undergone surgery for ameloblastoma (follicular type). The present swelling was fungating through the skin and protruding into the right nostril. Ameloblastic carcinoma is an aggressive odontogenic tumor that requires aggressive surgical treatment.

Benign endobronchial tumors are rare diseases with an incidenced of between 1 and 5% of all Jung tumors. An endobronchial fibroepithelial polyp is an extremely rare form of benign bronchial tumor. Clinically, an endobronchial fibroepithelial polyp causes an airway obstruction and obstructive pneumonitis as does other endobronchial tumors. Therefore, it is important to differentiate an endobronchial fibroepithelial polyp pathologically from other benign endobronchial tumors and bronchogenic carcinomas. Here, we report a case of an endobronchial fibroepithelial polyp, in a 25-year-old man who had suffered from chest discomfort upon deep breathing with a brief review of the relevant literature.
