Kinetic Analysis of the Counter-transport Phenomenon in the Hepatic Transport of Organic Anionic Drugs (유기 음이온계 약물의 간수송과정에 있어서 대향수송현상에 관한 속도론적 연구)

  • The counter-transport phenomena in the hepatic transport of 1-anilino-8-naphthalene sulfonate (ANS) were kinetically investigated by analyzing the plasma disappearance-time profiles and the transport into the isolated hepatocytes. In vivo "counter transport phenomena" were simulated based on the perfusion model which incorporated the carrier-mediated transport and the saturable intracellular binding. The condition that the mobility of carrier-ligand complex is greater than that of free carrier is not essential for the occurrence of counter-transport phenomenon. To examine the inhibitory effects on the initial uptake of a ligand by the liver, it is necessary to judge whether the true counter-transport mechanism (trans-stimulation) is working or not. The initial plasma disappearance curves of ANS were then kinetically analyzed based on a two-compartment model, in which the ligand is eliminated only from the peripheral compartment (liver compartment). No effects on the initial plasma disappearance rates of ANS were observed after preloading of bromophenol blue (BPB) or rose bengal (RB) in the liver. Inhibitory effect of BPB or RB on the initial uptake (or efflux) rates of ANS by the isolated hepatocytes were not observed, suggesting that the true counter transport mechanism is not working. In conclusion, checking the preloading effects of transstimulation on the initial uptake of a ligand by the liver could be a useful criterion for carrier cycling and common use of the same carrier between two ligands. However, one cannot exclude those possibilities even if the preloading effects cannot be observed.

  • In OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) system that frequency reuse factor is 1, as the same channels in the neighborhood cells creates inter-cell co-channel interference which provides a resource underutilization problem, channel allocation schemes to minimize inter-cell interference have been studied. This paper proposes a new CNIR (Carrier to Noise and Interference Ratio)-based distributed Inter-cell DCA (Dynamic Channel Allocation) algorithm in the OFDMA environment with frequency reuse factor of 1. When a channel allocation is requested, if there is not a free channel in home cell or the available free channels in home cell do not satisfy a required threshold value, the proposed Inter-cell DCA algorithm finds CNIR values of available free channels in the neighborhood cells and then allocates a free channel with maximum CNIR value. Through the simulation results, we find that the proposed scheme decreases both new call block rate and forced termination rate due to new call generation at the same time because it increases channel allocation probability.

Constructing a Social Contact Network based on Cellphone Call Records and Analysis of its Scale-free Property (휴대폰 통화기록 기반의 소셜 컨택 네트워크 구성 및 Scale-free 특성에 관한 분석)

  • We consider a human contact social network that has connections through cellphone addresses. To construct such a social network, we use real call records provided by a large carrier, and connect to each other if there exists a call record between any two cellphone users. Due to its huge amount of data, we down-sample it in a way that the smallest-degree nodes are removed, in turn, from the network. For a moderate size of the networks we show that the degree distribution of the network follows a power-law distribution via linear regression analysis, implying the so-called scale-free property. We finally suggest some alternative measures to analyze a social network.

Studies on Carrier-Free Promethium-147 (무담체(無擔體) Pm-147에 관한 연구(硏究))

  • The present investigation was intended to study the state of Pm-147 in solution and its adsorbed state on membrane filters by varying the concentrations of Pm-147 solution and its pH. Also, the study on the coprecipitation of Pm-147 with $Fe(OH)_3$ was carried out by varying, amounts of $Fe(OH)_3$ and pH of the solution. The carrier-free Pm-147 exists in an ionic state of $Pm^{3+}$ in solution, and is adsorbed on membrane filter in filtration process. The adsorbed state of Pm-147 on the membrane filter shows various ionic state at a constant ionic strength of 0.1M NaCl, that is, $Pm^{3+}$ state exists until pH value of 5.0, then gradually $Pm(OH)^{2+}$ state appears between pH value of 5.0 to 6.0, and the state of $Pm(OH)_2^+$ and $Pm(OH)_3$ would be expected at the higher pH value of 6.0. Coprecipitation of Pm-147 on $Fe(OH)_3$ is an adsorption penomenon in an ionic state of $Pm^{3+}$ in acidic condition. At higher pH and larger amount of Fe carrier, the adsorbed state of Pm-147 shows $Pm(OH)^{2+}$ and $Pm(OH)_2^+$ state. As a results of the present studies, it is seen that the characteristic of carrier free radioisotopes is not due to the radioactivity, but due to the adsorption of ultramicroquantity of radioisopes. Therefore, the knowledge on the ultramicroquantity of radioisotopes could help for the solution of decontamination in handing and chemical procedure with radioisotopes.

  • There has been considerable reseach on the representation of a hull form which is a 3-dimensional free surface. A form parameter method to describe the hull form by means of form parameters which represent the characteristics of the given hull form geometry has been recently paid special attention with the advent of powerful computer. However, there have been reported many problems to the conventional form parameter for the practical hull form generation. In the present paper, an attempt has been made to creak hull form by combining the form parameter method with the B-spline curve which can be best fitted to free surfaces. In an application, the present method is used to generates a Bulk carrier hull form and compared with the existing hull form to prove its applicability for the hull form generation.

  • The present study is concerned with the numerical analysis of the sloshing impact pressure of the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carriers in rough sea. The reliable predictions of the both random tank motions in irregular waves and violent fluid flow in the LNG tanks are required for practical sloshing analysis procedure of LNG carriers. The three-dimensional numerical model adopting SOLA-VOF scheme is used to predict violent free surface movements of LNG tank in irregular motions. For accurate input motion of tank, a three-dimensional panel method program called SSMP (Samsung Ship Motion Program) is applied for seakeeping analysis. Comparison studies of sloshing analysis are carried out for No.2 tank of 138K and 205K LNG carriers to verify the safety of the LNG containment system of the proposed 205K large LNG carrier.

Numerical Simulation of Two-dimensional Sloshing Phenomena Using Marker-density Method (밀도함수법을 이용한 2차원 슬로싱 현상의 수치시뮬레이션)

  • Two dimensional sloshing phenomena in regularly excited liquid cargo tank are numerically simulated with finite difference method. Navier-Stokes equations and continuity equation are computed for this study. The free-surface is determined every time step satisfying kinematic boundary condition using marker-density method. And the exciting force is treated by adding the acceleration of the tank to source term. The results are compared with other existing experiment results. And the comparison results show a good agreement. The sloshing phenomena in the tank of the 138K LNG carrier in sway motion is simulated with present calculation methods in low filling level. To find the relations between impact pressure and excitation condition, the calculations are performed in various amplitudes and periods. The averaged maximum pressures are compared each other.

Using DGPS as An Acceleration Sensor for Airborne Gravimetry

  • In airborne gravimetry, there are two data streams. One is the specific force measured by an air/sea gravimeter or accelerometers, the other is kinematic acceleration measured by DGPS. And the difference of them provides the gravity disturbance information. To satisfy the requirement of most applications, an accuracy of 1mGal $(1mCal=10^{-5}m/s^{2})$ with a spatial resolution of 1km is the aim of current airborne gravimetry. There are two different methods to derive the kinematic acceleration. The generally used method is to differentiate the position twice, and the position can be calculated by commercial DGPS software. The main defect of this method is that integer ambiguities need to be fixed to get the precise position solution, but it's not a trivial thing for long base line. And to fix integer ambiguities, the noisier iono-free measurement is used. When differentiation is applied, noise is amplified and will influence the accuracy of acceleration. The other method is to get carrier phase acceleration by differentiate the carrier phase first, and then using the acceleration of GPS satellite to derive the vehicle acceleration. The main advantages include that fixing integer ambiguities is not needed anymore, position can be relaxed to about 10 meters, and smoother acceleration can be got since iono-free measurement is not needed. In some literatures, it's considered that the dynamic performance of the second method is inferior to that of the first. Through analysis, it is found that the performance degradation in dynamic environment results from the simplification of the GPS carrier phase observable model. And an iterative algorithm is presented to compensate the model error. Using a dynamic GPS data from an aeromagnetic survey, the importance of this compensation is showed at last.

  • Recently, carrier-selective contact solar cells have attracted much interests because of its high efficiency with low recombination current density. In this study, we investigated the effect of phosphorus doped amorphous silicon layer's characteristics on the passivation properties of tunnel oxide passivated carrier-selective contact solar cells. We fabricated symmetric structure sample with poly-Si/SiOx/c-Si by deposition of phosphorus doped amorphous silicon layer on the silicon oxide with subsequent annealing and hydrogenation process. We varied deposition temperature, deposition thickness, and annealing conditions, and blistering, lifetime and passivation quality was evaluated. The result showed that blistering can be controlled by deposition temperature, and passivation quality can be improved by controlling annealing conditions. Finally, we achieved blistering-free electron carrier-selective contact with 730mV of i-Voc, and cell-like structure consisted of front boron emitter and rear passivated contact showed 682mV i-Voc.

To examine the inhibitory effects on the initial uptake of organic anions by the liver, it is necessary to judge whether the true counter-transport mechanism (trans-stimulation) is working or not. Effects of bromophenol blue (BPB) or bromosulfophthalein (BSP) on the plasma disappearance curves of a 1-anilino-8-naphthalene sulfonate (ANS) were then kinetically analyzed based on a flow model, in which the ligand is eliminated only from the peripheral compartment (liver compartment). Moreover, 'in vivo counter-transport' phenomena were simulated based on the perfusion model which incorporated the carrier-mediated transport and the saturable intracellular binding. The 'in vivo counter-transport' phenomena in the hepatic transport of a organic anions were well demonstrated by incorporating the carrier-mediated process. However, the 'in vivo counter-transport' phenomena may be also explained by the enhancement of back diffusion due to the displacement of intracellular binding. In conclusion, one should be more cautious in interpreting data obtained from so-called 'in vivo counter-transport' experiments.
