Survey data were collected from 161 IT service technical engineers. The results indicated that structural and content plateau were negatively related to career satisfaction, and content plateau was positively related to career withdrawal intention, but not structural plateau. In addition, the results of hierarchical multiple regressions indicated that content plateau had stronger effect on career satisfaction and career withdrawal intention then content plateau.

  • Purpose: Preventing frequent change and discontinuation of the nurses' carrier is one of major issues for human resource management in a health organization (HO). This study was conducted to get evidences for improvement nursing manpower management and career development of the clinical nurses through investigating affecting factors to their career withdrawal intention (CWI). Methods: A self-report questionnaire survey was conducted on the subjects of the 590 clinical nurses with more than one year tenure from the eight hospitals in Busan city during December, 2013. Data analysis was performed using SPSS program (ver 20.0) and AMOS program (ver 20.0) for structural modeling. Results: Career satisfaction (CS) showed positive(+) effects, and increased with higher job adequacy (${\beta}=.139$, t=2.676, p=.007), job autonomy (${\beta}=.260$, t=4.815, p<.001), and career planning (${\beta}=.301$, t=5.797, p<.001). Career commitment (CC) showed positive(+) effects, and increased with higher job adequacy (${\beta}=.107$, t=2.280, p=.023), job autonomy (${\beta}=.257$, t=5.035, p<.001), career planning (${\beta}=.232$, t=4.717, p<.001), and career satisfaction (CS)(${\beta}=.123$, t=2.293, p=.022). CWI showed negative(-) effects and increased with lower CC (${\beta}=-.906$, t=-15.72, p<.001). Conclusion: Results indicate that CC and CS have important mediating roles between job adequacy, job autonomy, career planning and CWI. As CC directly influenced CWI, there is a need to strengthen CC to prevent frequent changes and discontinuation of nurses' careers and to contribute to productivity HO's.

  • Social workers experience various work commitment forms in the field practice. This study tries to find the discriminant validity of job, organizational, career, and relationship commitments among these work commitment forms. This study also tries to find the interrelationship among these commitment forms and the relationship of each of four commitment forms with the withdrawal intention, which is represented by turnover intention and career change intention. For this purpose, a survey of 417 social workers working for community welfare centers in Busan and Gyeongnam was conducted and the data was analyzed. The results of this study showed that the work commitment forms have discriminant validity. The analysis of interrelationship between commitment forms using SEM revealed that the more a social worker commits to his or her job, the more he/she commits to his/her job and the relationship with the client. In addition, job and organizational and career commitments affect turnover intention while career and relationship commitments affect career change intention. Therefore, to improve organizational management, it is necessary to understand diverse forms of work commitment as well as organizational commitment. And differentiated management strategies are needed to increase either each commitment form or various commitment forms at the same time.

  • This study was conducted to explore the latest trends in domestic research related to career development for nurses and present a theoretical approach and practical direction of career related papers in the field of nursing and health care. The subject of the study was articles regarding career development of nurses published in domestic journals from 2008 to 2017. The final 29 papers were found after searching the RISS and KISS databases for 'nursing', 'nurse', 'career', 'career development', 'career development program', and 'career management.' To analyze the overall trends, the analysis was reviewed by year, source, research design, and subjects, and content analysis was used to identify trends by topic. The results of content analysis were divided into career development and career development results as the upper categories. The subcategories of career development were divided into organizational career management, personal career management, and career performance. The subcategories of personal career management consisted of career exploration, career planning, career plateau, and career interruption. Organizational career management consisted of CLS development and application, CLS awareness survey, and career development model building. Career performance consisted of career commitment, organizational commitment, turnover intention, change after CLS application, career satisfaction, and career withdrawal intention. The most frequently discussed topics were career commitment among career performance. Therefore, the direction of nursing research related to career development requires integrated research that meets personal and organizational needs, and diversity in subject, research design and research theme is required.

  • Is it lawful to withhold or withdraw life-sustaining treatment applied to a patient in a terminal condition or permanent unconscious condition? In Korea, there are no such laws or regulations which control affairs related to the withholding or withdrawal life-support treatment and active euthanasia as the Natural Death Act or the Death with Dignity Act in the U. S. A. And in addition there has had no precedent of Supreme Court. Recently Supreme Court has pronounced a historical judgment on a terminal care case. The court allowed the withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment from a patient in a permanent unconscious state. Fundamentally the court judged that the continuation of that medical treatment would infringe dignity and value of a patient as a human being. And the court required some legal grounds to consider such withdrawal or withholding of medical care lawful. The legal grounds are as follow. First, the patient is in a incurable and irreversible condition and already entered a stage of death. Second, the patient executed a directive, in advance, directing the withholding or withdrawal of life-support treatment in a incurable and irreversible condition or in a terminal condition. Otherwise, at least, the patient's will would be presumed through his/her character, view of value, philosophy, religious faith and career etc. I regard if a patient is in a incurable and irreversible condition or in a terminal condition, the medical contract between a patient and a doctor would be terminated because of the actual impossibility of achievement of it's purpose. So I think the discontinuation of life-sustaining care would be legally allowed without depending on the patient's own will.

Results from the questionnaire called K-vision diagnosis program were computed by means of t-test, One-Way ANOVA, and correlation analysis. Results: 1. Total points of the drop out intention came to 782.14 points. Of the five categories concerned with the drop out intention, complain in college satisfaction(50.12points) was the highest and department satisfaction(47.51points) was the lowest. Of 16 subcategories, complaining in administrative supporting system proved the highest as 50.80 points and Inquiry to Professor the lowest(45.56 points). 2. Among the general characteristic gender (p<. 01), student group (p<.01), and credit (p<.05) made a meaningful statistical difference; no statistical significance was found in grade, admission, and dwellings. 3. Of the five categories, statistical significance was shown as follows; Department satisfaction (p<.01), College satisfaction (p<.05) under gender, Department satisfaction (p<.05) in grade, Academic integration (p<.01), Department satisfaction (p<.01) in credit. No statistical meaning was found in admission and dwellings. 4. Statistical significance was found under 16 subcategories as follows: Career identification(p<.01), Academic support system(p<.01), Social activity II(p<.05) in gender area, Inquiry to professor(p<.01), Learning(p<.05), Understanding learning I(p<.05) in grade area, Learning(p<.001), Career identification(p<.001), Understanding learning I(p<.01), Understanding learning II(p<.01), Inquiry to professor (p<.01), Learning ability (p<.05), Occupation (p<.05), Social Activity II(p<.05), Administrative support system (p<.05) in student group area, Credit (p<.001), Career identification (p<.01), Understanding learning I(p<.05) in credit area; admission and dwellings was statistically meaningless. 5.
