First, it was found that career decision-making self-efficacy completely mediated the relationship between social support and career preparation behavior. Second, the career decision-making self-efficacy had complete mediating effects on the relation between social support and career preparation behavior. Third, it was found that social support indirectly had a positive effect on career preparation behavior through career decision-making self-efficacy. The results of this study show that perceived social support of Korean Polytechnics students affects career decision-making self-efficacy and increases the level of career preparation behavior. This suggests that through active social support around Korean Polytechnics students, it is necessary to provide environmental factors that can promote career preparation behavior by enhancing the self-efficacy of career decision-making, which is a low-level factor for students.

  • Recently, the need for research into environmental and intrapsychic variables to promote active career preparation behavior is increasing, due to the increasing need to cultivate career preparation behavior starting from middle school. On the basis of this need, the purpose of this study is to identify the mediating effects of hope in the relationship between maternal learning involvement and career preparation behavior among middle school students. We surveyed 320 middle school students in W city, Gangwon-do, regarding these variables. We evaluated the results according to Baron and Kenny's (1986) mediating effect test procedure. The findings showed a significant positive correlation between positive maternal learning involvement, such as respecting their children's learning methods and providing academic information and advice, and the students' career preparation behavior and hope. However, the findings didn't show any significant correlation between negative maternal learning involvement, such as pressure for academic performance, and the students' career preparation and hope. Furthermore, hope was found to partially mediate the relationship between maternal positive learning involvement, including academic information and advice, and career preparation behavior, while fully mediating the relationship between career preparation behavior and respecting the students' learning methods. However, it did not have any mediating effect on the relationship between pressure for academic performance and career preparation behavior. These results highlight the important role that instilling hope in students, through respecting their learning methods and advising and providing the necessary academic information, plays in achieving a higher level of career preparation behavior.

  • The purpose of this study is to describe the mediating effect of career decision level on the relationship between career decision self-efficacy and career preparation behavior of nursing students. The subjects of the study were data collected from 108 nursing students in 3rd and 4th grade and analyzed. The factors affecting career preparation behavior of nursing college students were career decision self-efficacy (β= .54, p<.001) and career decision level (β =.23, p=.009). Career decision-making levels were found to play a partial mediating role in the relationship between efficacy and career readiness behavior (Z=2.49, p=.006). The results of this study suggest that it is necessary to improve the career decision-making self-efficacy and the level of career decision-making for effective career preparation behavior, and it is necessary to develop strategic career guidance and program that reflects this.

  • This study identified the impact of career identity and career decision-making type on career preparation behavior in nursing students. The participants were 198 nursing students enrolled in the 3rd and 4th grades located in J province, and data were collected from June 14, 2021 to 27, 2021, using an online questionnaire. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and hierarchical regression using SPSS/WIN 23.0 program. As a result, the mean score of career identity, rational type, intuitive type, dependent type, and career preparation behavior were 2.79(range 1~4), 3.78(range 1~5), 3.38(range 1~5), 3.01(range 1~5), and 3.51(range 1~5), respectively. Career preparation behavior was significantly correlated with career identity(r=.40, p<.001), rational type(r=.50, p<.001), intuitive type(r=.22, p=.002), and dependent type(r=-.20, p=.004). Factors influencing career preparation behavior were career identity(β=.23, p=.001), rational type(β=.31, p<.001), intuitive type(β=.27, p<.001), and dependent type(β=-.20, p=.002). These variables accounted for 24.6%p of the variance in career preparation behavior(F=11.93, p<.001). These research results suggest that it is necessary to establish a career identity and develop and apply a program that includes career guidance according to career decision-making type to improve the career preparation behavior of nursing students.

Firstly, the levels of career decision making and career preparation-related behavior were slightly lower than mid-point on 5 point scale respectively. Secondly, social work self-efficacy was not correlated to their career decision levels while social work self-efficacy positively affected to the career-related behavioral levels. In particular, the client support self-efficacy of the three sub-factors in social work efficacy had a negative influence on the levels of career preparation behavior. Consequently, social work self-efficacy of the participants intensively was correlated with their career preparation-related behavioral levels.
