We found that they perceived engineering positively as much as that they gave an affirmative answers to the most of questions about engineering and field of engineering. Even though engineering careers and fields of career are very important particularly for gifted students, they have not only lack of recognition and negative image of engineering but also a misconception. It seems to be due to the lack of opportunities for engineering education. In addition, gifted students have meaningful differences according to gender, grade level, future career group. In conclusion, compared to the importance of engineering for them, the image and perception and attitude of the engineering gifted students have were examined to be very lacking.

The direction of analysis is to explore whether family background and academic activities (career maturity, academic achievement) during high school, economic situation, social relationships, and level of personal competency during adolescence are linked to the perception of equal opportunity. The analysis method established a structural equation model with the perception of equality of opportunity as the final dependent variable and confirmed the causal relationship using the LISREL program. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the factors affecting young people's perception of equality of opportunity are the economic situation at the time of youth and the level of personal competency. The results of the study confirm the awareness of equality of opportunity among young people entering Korean society, and are expected to be used as information needed to create a social foundation so that they can play a responsible role as members of society.

All subsections of career awareness had positive relationships except the school self-esteem. According to the result, rural children had relatively low career awareness and self-esteem. This is presumably due to relatively poor circumstances for rural children, comparing to that of urban children. Therefore rural elementary schools should try to let them have appropriate career awareness by associating with family, school and local society to expand the opportunity of experiences for the self perception of aptitude, nature and interest. In addition, we have to strive for the whole-minded education increasing the self-esteem of rural children and giving them positive thinking through career counselling, personal counselling and group counselling.
