  • The purpose of this research is to develop and validate an instrument that can be used to measure critical aspects of a parent's attitude and behavior that influence child development and adaptation. This instrument is named Parenting Style Inventory and self-reporting assessment of parent for preschoolers. We reported findings from 578 preschooler's care-givers. Five factors were extracted from 55 items developed for preschooler version and finally 29 items were selected. Subscales were empathy, respect, parental authority, coerciveness, perfectionism. Internal consistency of these subscales were .77, .86, .70, .74, .68 relatively. Empathy, respect and authoritative scales were regarded as the basic dimensions of parent's behavior. For clinical validation, we divided the preschooler care-giver sample into 8 groups according to scores of the basic dimensions and compared the 8 groups with parenting stress and parenting self-efficacy scores. The results indicated that three basic factors would have different effects on parental experiences and satisfaction. We suggested the clinical implication and limitation of this instrument.

  • The agitation of dementia patient is a factor which aggravates the care-givers' burdon, and it is needed to develop intervention methods. Hall and Buckwalter hypothesized that an increase in agitation behavior occur when persons experience high levels of stress. This study was conducted to explore the efficacy of hand massage in producing relaxation and decreasing agitation behaviors in persons with dementia. Hand massage was administered once a day in afternoon for 8days to 24 patients and 4days to 23 patients. There was no difference in result between the two groups. Significant differences were found in systolic blood pressure, pulse rate, emotional state from pre to post -intervention with the use of hand massage. The change of systolic blood pressure was 26% explained by ADL, MMSE-K and institutionalized period. The most significant variable was institutionalized period. The change of diastolic blood pressure was 11% explained by ADL, and it was significant. But no decrease in agitation behavior was observed and no increase in functional capacity.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate institutionalized adolescents'perception of meaningful persons and to analyze the features of their interpersonal relationships. 9 middle school students of 3 child welfare facilities were observed and participated in depth-interviews. Results indicate that there is a difference in adolescents'family image according to their experience before institutionalization. They want care-givers of institution to offer more emotional support to them. And they perceive much social support from other adolescents who're living with them. But, the findings suggest that their peer relationships have some limitations because of institutionalization itself and various restriction on their behaviors. Lastly, they want more intimate relationship with supporters in addition to financial sponsorship. In conclusion, institutionalized adolescents'interpersonal relationships are related closely to the environmental properties. Therefore, concerns should be directed toward improving the quality of social and psychological environment of institutions. And various programs should be provided to support institutionalized adolescents'social development.

More recently, a variety of implantable INDSs have been described for long-term intraspinal narcotic administration. Especially, among these systems INDS typeIII which is designed by Poletti et al is relatively low cost and less risk of infection, therefore this system has been widely accepted but the clinical experience is insufficient yet. 1, Problems, 1) thorough education of patients and care-givers about this system the method of drug delivery and the situations could be happen in using this system. 2) high cost of continuous drug delivery system 3) legal problems about morphine carry-out in the case of bolus infusion by syringe 1. Although they are in a normal organization hierarchy as general employees, they have to be equipped with professional knowledge as medical terminology, disease and drugs and to understand new technologies and capabilities. This study analyzes the level of job satisfaction and the turnover intention of administrative employees who are engaged in medical institutes. It compares job satisfaction and the difference of turnover intention by the characteristics of job-related and scale of medical institutes. In addition, it verifies the relative in fluence of variables related to demographic and job-related characteristics as factors for explaining the job satisfaction of the administrative employees.
