  • Magneto-rheological elastomers(MRE) are similar to magnetorheological fluids. Thus, rheological properties of MRE can be also controlled by an applied magnetic field. The MRE in this experiment is a mixture of natural rubber(NR), carbonyl iron powder(CIP), ZnO, and sulfur. Three specimens were prepared and tested by using the vibration testing instruments. The magnetic field was generated by the electromagnets. Natural frequencies of the oscillator were changed by the applied magnetic field. The properties of the MRE were increased due to magnetic field strength.

  • This study suggests the new ultraprecision finishing techniques for micro die and mold parts using magnetic field-assisted polishing. Conventional magnetic abrasives have several disadvantages, which are missing of abrasive particle and inequal mixture between magnetic particle and abrasive particle. Therefore, bonded magnetic abrasive particles are fabricated by several method. For example, plasma melting and direct bonding. Carbonyl iron powder is used as magnetic particle there silicon carbide and alumina are abrasive particles. Developed magnetic abrasives are analyzed using SEM. Feasibility of magnetic abrasive and polishing performance of this magnetic abrasive particles also have been investigated. After polishing, surface roughness of workpiece is reduced from 85.4 ㎚ Ra to 9 ㎚ RA.

  • MRE(Magneto-rheological Elastomer) is a material which shows reversible and various modulus in magnetic field. Comparing to conventional rubber vibration isolator, MREs are able to absorb broader frequency range of vibration. These characteristic phenomena result from the orientation of magnetic particle (i.e., chain-like formation) in rubber matrix. In this study, Silicon was used as a matrix in order to manufacture MREs. Magnetic reactive powder(MRP), having rapid magnetic reaction, was selected as a magnetic particle to give magnetic field reactive modulus. The mechanical properties of manufactured MREs were measured with the application of magnetic field. The analysis of MR effect was carried out by FFT analyzer with various induced magnetic field. As the addition of CIP and induced magnetic field intensity increased, increment of MR effect was observed.

  • In this study, a new type of composite material combined with carbonyl iron, a relatively strong ferromagnetic material, was prepared to overcome the current application limitations of Prussian blue, which is effective in removing radioactive cesium. The surface of the prepared composite was analyzed using SEM and XRD, and it was confirmed that nano-sized Prussian Blue was synthesized on the particle surface. In order to evaluate the cesium removal ability, 0.2 g of the composite prepared for raw cesium aquatic solution at a concentration of 5 ㎍ was added and reacted, resulting in a cesium removal rate of 99.5 %. The complex follows Langmuir's adsorption model and has a maximum adsorption amount (qe) of 79.3 mg/g. The Central Composite Design (CCD) of the Response Surface Method (RSM) was used to derive the optimal application conditions of the prepared composite. The optimal application conditions achieved using Response optimization appeared at a stirring speed of pH 7, 17.6 RPM. The composite manufactured through this research is a material that overcomes the Prussian Blue limit in powder form and is considered to be excellent economically and environmentally when applied to a cesium removal site.

  • With high integration of electronic components, power inductors are also miniaturized. Recently, thick film processes for small size power inductors were developed and commercialized. However, the thick film process to prepare soft magnetic green sheets was not reported enough. In this study, we used Fe-Si magnetic and CIP (carbonyl iron powders) as starting materials to lead to a bimodal particle size distribution in the sheet. We proposed a newly developed 'Modified slurry preparation process' to get well dispersed condition even at high solid contents. Using the new process, it was possible to prepare a well dispersed slurry over 70 vol% of solid. BYK-103 was better than BYK-111 as dispersant in this slurry and the optimum amount was 0.6 wt%. The optimized slurry was formed into a sheet by tape casting process and then the sheet was laminated. We conformed that small size powder, large size powder, and epoxy resin were well dispersed in the green sheet.

  • The Internet of Things (IoT) device is a key component for Industry 4.0, which is the network in homes, factories, buildings, and infrastructures to monitor and control the systems. To demonstrate the IoT network, batteries are widely utilized as power sources, and the batteries inevitably require repeated replacement due to their limited capacity. Magneto-mechano-electric (MME) generators are one of the candidate to develop self-powered IoT systems since MME generators can harvest electricity from stray alternating current (AC) magnetic fields arising from electric power cables. Herein, we report a magneto-mechano-triboelectric generator enabled by a ferromagnetic-ferroelectric composite. In the triboelectric nylon matrix, a ferromagnetic carbonyl iron powder (CIP) was introduced to induce magnetic force near the AC magnetic field for MME harvesting. Additionally, a ferroelectric ceramic powder was also added to the MME composite material to enhance the charge-trapping capability during triboelectric harvesting. The final ferromagnetic-ferroelectric composite-based MME triboelectric harvester can generate an open-circuit voltage and a short-circuit current of 110 V and 8 μA, respectively, which were enough to turn on a light emitting diode (LED) and charge a capacitor. These results verify the feasibility of the MME triboelectric generator for not only harvesting electricity from an AC magnetic field but also for various self-powered IoT applications.

  • In order to obtain magneto-dielectrics with various permmittivity and permeability which could be used as the antenna substrate, various magneto-dielectrics compounded of dielectric materials(such as silicon and epoxy resin) and magnetic materials(such as carbonyl iron, barium and strontium powder) were fabricated. The relative permittivity and permeability of those were measured by use of HP 4291B impedance analyzer. Based upon the measured results, inverted-F meander monopole antennas(IFA) which were printed on the magneto-dielectric substrates fabricated as film type were designed and fabricated to investigate into variations of antenna characteristics such as the resonant frequency and impedance bandwidth in comparison with use of dielectric substrate. Some simulated and measured results for the designed IFA were presented. Characteristics of magneto-dielectrics which are different according as the choice of magnetic material or the composition ratio between magnetic material and dielectric material is different have been discussed.

  • Seasoned sardine meat was prepared to extend the use of sardine for human consumption, and processing conditions and storage stability of frozen seasoned sardine meat were studied during storage at $-20^{\circ}C$. The fish was beheaded, gutted and cleaned in a washing tank. The washed fish was then put through a belt-drum type meat separator which separates the flesh iron the bone and skin. Mechanically deboned fish meat was mixed with $20.6\%$ emulsion curd, $0.5\%$ table salt, $2.0\%$ sugar, $0.4\%$ sodium bicarbonate, $0.2\%$ polyphosphate, $0.1\%$ monosodium glutamate, $0.3\%$ onion powder, $0.1\%$ garlic powder, $0.1\%$ ginger powder, $3.0\%$ soybean protein and $0.1\%$. In sodium erythorbate. This seasoned sardine meat was frozen with contact freezer, packed in a carton box and then stored at $-20^{\circ}C$. The pH, volatile basic nitrogen, viable cell counts, peroxide value, carbonyl value, thiobarbituric acid value, taste compounds, fatty acid composition, salt extractable nitrogen, drip, texture, and color values of the products were determined during frozen storage. The results showed that lipid content in products could be controlled by using emulsion curd, and flavor and texture could be improved by adding spices and soybean protein, and lipid oxidation could be retarded by $0.1\%$ sodium erythorbate. Judging from the results of chemical experiments and sensory evaluation, the products can be preserved in a good quality for 120 days during frozen storage.
