고강도 냉간압조용 중탄소 Cr-Mo 합금강의 임계간 어닐링시 냉각속도 및 온도의 영향 (Effect of Cooling Rate and Temperature on Intercritical Annealing of Medium-Carbon Cr-Mo Alloy for High Strength Cold Heading Quality Wire Rod)

  • The current study deals with the effect of cooling rate and temperature for annealing on medium-carbon Cr-Mo alloy steel, especially for cold heading quality wire rod, to derive the optimum micro-structures for plastic deformation. This is to optimize the spheroidization heat treatment conditions for softening the material. Heat treatment was performed under seven different conditions at a temperature between Ac1 and Ac3, mostly within 720℃ to 760℃, and the main variables at this time were temperature, retention time and cooling rate. Microstructure and phase changes were observed for each test condition, and it was confirmed that they were greatly affected by the cooling rate. It was also confirmed that the cooling rate was changed in the range of 0.1℃/min to 5℃/min and affected by phase deformation and spheroidization fraction. The larger the spheroidization fraction, the lower the hardness, which is associated with the increasing connection of ferrite phases.

선박엔진 부품의 성능 향상을 위한 초기 마모 및 윤활 해석 연구 (Simulation of the Initial Wear and Lubrication Performance of Marine Engine Components)

  • Recently, the demand for improving energy efficiency has rapidly increased because of the growing concerns over environmental issues. In this work, the tribo-test and simulation for the initial wear and lubrication performance were performed for the piston pin in the small end system of the connecting rod of a marine engine, to obtain useful data for improving the efficiency of marine engine systems. In addition, a diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating was applied to the piston pin to explore feasibility of eliminating the bush used in the system. The initial wear and lubrication characteristics between the uncoated piston pin and bush were compared with that between the DLC-coated piston pin and connecting rod in the tribo-test. The simulation for the wear and lubrication performance according to the wear progression was conducted based on the data obtained from the test. The wear characteristics were quantitatively assessed by the wear depth and wear volume, and the lubrication performance was characterized with the change of pressure and minimum oil film thickness with respect to the crank angle. It was found that the DLC-coated piston pin may provide better initial wear characteristics and lubrication performance. The results of this work may provide fundamental information for marine engines with improved efficiency.

서울메트로 PSD장비 탄소접지모듈 설치 사례 (The example of the Carbon Grounding Modules installation for PSD systems at a subway station, Seoulmetro)

  • Seoul Metro and Seoul Metropolitan Rapid Transit Corp. have started installing screen doors at subway platforms to improve the environment of subways and prevent passengers' accidents since 2006. They are still installing screen doors at subway platforms and Metropolitan Rapid Transit Corporations in other areas are also proceeding with installment of screen doors or making preparations for it. Grounding is necessary for installing PSD systems. In case that PSD grounding is connected with existing electrical equipment grounding system, it was decided to install separate grounding for safe operation of PSD system and passenger safety. However, it's very difficult to install new grounding at the subway station compound. A way to improve this condition is that we proceed with grounding by composing grounding station by carbon grounding rod. This paper will mainly deal with how to design and construct carbon ground rod, which has been applied to PSD system grounding since 2006, including its experimental examples. In this paper, ways to secure ground resistance below 5 ohms, which is resistance necessary for PSD grounding, and to compose grounding system were also discussed. Furthermore, a ground test to check the ability to fulfill a role of PSD grounding system was conducted. As a result of applying carbon grounding module, PSD system is being operated without any problem and the installment of PSD system will be continuously expanded in the future. It's also thought that a way to integrate grounding of each functional room which has been installed at the subway station compound and to arrange equipotential grounding should be reviewed and performed promptly.

  • An experimental work is presented to evaluate the retrofit method for improving the flexural capacity of shear walls. Fives shear wall specimens are designed and retrofitted by using carbon fiber materials such as rod, sheet and plate. Cyclic horizontal loads are applied to the specimens under constant axial load, $0.1f_{ck}A_g$. Test result shows that specimens with additional flexural reinforcement have the increased initial stiffness and deformation capacity. However, the strength is not improved as much as expected. This is because that the flexural reinforcement is pulled out from the foundation at the latter half of cycles. In order to maximize the flexural retrofit, therefore, it is required to study the anchorage behavior of the flexural reinforcement for retrofit.

  • 초저온 액화가스인 LNG의 저장탱크에 사용되는 9% 니켈강은 Inconel 혹은 Hastelloy 계열 용접봉을 사용하여 용접되며, 용접부는 저합금강과 오스테나이트 스테인리스강의 이종금속 용접부와 유사한 특성을 가지고 있다. 용접부에 대한 방사선투과시험 시 용접조건에 따라 밴드형태의 지시가 방사선투과 필름 상에 나타나곤 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 이에 대한 해석을 위하여 재료, 방사선투과시험, 초음파탐상시험, 액체침투탐상시험 및 조직시험을 통하여 의사지시 여부를 확인하였으며, 방사선투과시험 해석 및 밴드형태 지시의 발생 원인을 제시하였다.

부숙촉진 미생물 분리 및 분리균의 특성 (Isolation and Characteristics of Composting-promoting-bacteria)

  • 가축분 및 음식물 퇴비 132점에서 517균주를 분리하고 CMC와 xylan 및 PGA 배지에서 강한 활성을 가지는 10여개의 균주를 선별하여 배추종자 발아를 이용한 작물 inhibition test와 오이 육묘실험으로 growth test를 거쳐 생육이 가장 양호한 LYH201 균주를 야생균주로 선발하였다. Bergey's manual 방법으로 특성을 조사한 결과 LYH201균주는 Gram 양성균으로 내생포자 형성, oxidase, CMCCase, xylanase, catalase, V-P test, methyl red test, arabinose 등의 탄소원 이용성은 양성이었으며, indole을 생성하고, urease, lecithinase, dihydrolase test는 음성이었고, 전자현미경으로 관찰한 결과 길이가 $2.5{\sim}3.0{\mu}m$, 너비가 $0.5{\sim}0.7{\mu}m$의 간균인 Bacillus subtilis로 확인되었다. Bacillus subtilis LYH201 균주를 MMY를 이용하여 배양한 결과 온도 $50^{\circ}C$, pH 6.0에서 생육이 가장 좋았다.

필터 생분해성 증진을 위한 종자 필터 개발 및 적용 효과 (Development of the Seed Filter for the enhancement of cigarette filter biodegradability)

  • Cigarette filters containing Brassica Rapa L. seeds of the dark brown and round shaped were evaluated to determine the effect of seed addition on filter degradability. The seeds with germination capability under the tar/nicotine condition in the preliminary test, were put into the active carbon part of the filter(12mm) during filter rod making by the kit. The $4{\pm}2$ pieces of the seeds were put into the opened fiber bundle of the filter tow. In order to test the germination rate of the seeds, seed filters were placed either in a petri dish or test-pot in a conditioned area ($25^{\circ}C$, 70 % RH). The seed filters were placed outdoors exposed to natural conditions with the periodic water supply. The seeds in the smoked filters showed 90 % germination rate after a month under the open air condition. No significant differences in the sensory evaluation and analysis were obtained when the control sample was compared to the same cigarettes with the seeds.

Time dependent numerical simulation of MFL coil sensor for metal damage detection

  • Recently, non-destructive health monitoring methods such as magnetic flux leakage (MFL) method, have become popular due to their advantages over destructive methods. Currently, numerical study on this field has been limited to simplified studies by only obtaining MFL instead of induced voltage inside coil sensor. In this study, it was proposed to perform a novel numerical simulation of MFL's coil sensor by considering vital parameters including specimen's motion with constant velocity and saturation status of specimen in time domain. A steel-rod specimen with two stepwise cross-sectional changes (i.e., 21% and 16%) was fabricated using low carbon steel. In order to evaluate the results of numerical simulation, an experimental test was also conducted using a magnetic probe, with same size specimen and test parameters, exclusively. According to comparative results of numerical simulation and experimental test, similar signal amplitude and signal pattern were observed. Thus, proposed numerical simulation method can be used as a reliable source to check efficiency of sensor probe when different size specimens with different defects should be inspected.

Isolation and Identification of Pseudomonas sp. CMC-50 Producing Carboxymethyl Cellulase and Characterization of Its Crude Enzyme

  • A strain that produces a high level of carboxymethyl cellulase was isolated from rotten leaves. The isolated strain was revealed to be gram-negative, oxidase-positive, and catalase-negative. From the electron microscopic features, it was identified as a rod-shaped bacterium with peritrichous flagella and did not form spores. Morphological and biochemical characteristics of the strain were found to be similar to the Pseudomonas species. However, carbon utilization test showed different results. Based on the results, this new strain was identified as Pseudomonas sp. CMC-50. CMCase produced by this strain showed a strong activity in neutral and weak acidic conditions and maximum activity at $50^{\circ}C$.

되메움 공간의 상재하중 영향평가에 관한 연구 (Evaluation of Surcharge toads Acting in Backfilled Space)

  • 지중에 매설되는 구조물은 매설된 후 교통하중등의 외부하중을 추가로 부담하게 된다. Terzaghi(1956) 는 수직하게 형성된 되메움 상태의 상재하중 영향을 산출하는 이론식을 제안한 바 있다. 그러나 현장에서는 되메움 공간 형태가 수직하게만 형성되지 않으며, 수직하지 않은 공간을 취하는 경우에는 그 경계조건이 부합되지 않아 사용이 적합하지 않다. 본 연구에서는 되메움 공간 형태가 대칭적으로 경사지며 되메움 후 상재하중이 작용될 경우, 상재하중에 의한 되메움 공간에서의 응력의 크기를 산출하는 이론식을 제안하였다. 제안된 이론식은 실내모형 탄소봉실험과 수치해석을 수행하여 이를 검증하고자 하였다. 연구결과에 따르면 제안된 이론식은 실험결과와 매우 유사한 결과를 나타냈으나 수치해석과는 다소 상이한 결과를 보였다. 이는 탄소봉으로 조성한 지반이 하중증가에 따라 다소 조밀하여지면서 내부마찰각의 증가와 이에 따른 벽면 마찰의 증가가 발생되었음에 비추어 수치해석상에는 반영될 수 없는 점이 그 차이를 나타내는 결과로 사료된다. 되메움 지반이 경사진 경우에 대하여 제안된 이론식은 수직한 되메움 공간의 형태에 적용시켰을 경우 Terzaghi(1956)의 이론식과는 동일한 결과를 나타냈다. 본 연구의 결과를 살펴보았을 때 제안된 이론식은 적용이 가능한 것으로 사료되며 또한 수직한 공간에 대한 적용 역시 가능한 것으로 판단된다. 그러나 본 연구에서는 실내모형 탄소봉실험이므로 실대형 실험을 통한 검증이 요구되어진다 하겠다.
