교통단속카메라 전·후방을 고려한 사고 저감효과 분석 -울산시 북구를 대상으로- (Analysis of Traffic Accident Reduction Effects considering Monitoring Direction of Traffic Camera)

  • PURPOSES : Traffic cameras have been installed to reduce traffic accidents. The effectiveness of traffic cameras has been proved by dozens of studies, but recently questions over its effectiveness have been raised by a series of studies. In this study, the effectiveness of traffic cameras was analyzed with a focus on different road environments. METHODS : The effectiveness of the traffic cameras was analyzed by extracting the occurence frequency before and after camera installation. The effect of reduction was analyzed comprehensively considering the installation position, monitoring direction, and surrounding environment of traffic cameras. RESULTS : The result of this study is as follows. First, the installation of cameras in an area with relatively low accidental traffic was more effective. Secondly, the effect of camera installation on car-to-pedestrian collisions was better than that of car-to-car collisions. Thirdly, accidents tended to occur more frequently when cameras were installed in front of the accident-prone owing to the negative spill-over effect. CONCLUSIONS : The result can be used to guide placement of traffic cameras. Moreover, the installation of cameras with consideration of the road environment is expected to contribute to a reduction in traffic fatalities.

Development of an equipment preventing overheated in a car using the solar cell

  • In this paper we develop an equipment which prevents vehicles from overheating their inside due to exposure to direct sunlight in summer. Overheating of inside vehicle may give rise to accidents, for instances, dying from suffocation, the deformation of its internal equipment and the explosion from the cracks of its internal parts etc.. The equipment is operated under no starting engine. We adjust the overheating of the inside vehicle by operating the equipment. This equipment checks the temperature of the inside vehicle using temperature sensor. If the temperature increases more than reference temperature(a condition which can be given by the driver), the equipment will operate until the temperature of the inside decreases to the given temperature. Its power is obtained from solar cell. So the equipment keeps away overheating accidents as well as provides the drivers with optimized condition. And also it increases the ability of original car battery through solar cell.

기상요인이 교통사고 발생에 미치는 영향 분석 : 서울지역을 중심으로 (Effects of Meteorological Factors on the Frequency of the Traffic Accidents in Seoul)

  • The traffic accidents in Korea have been increasing every year due to various reasons and simultaneously causing socioeconomic cost at the national level. This study has analyzed the correlation between meteorological factors and the traffic accidents in Seoul during 2013. Especially, we have selected season, rain and temperature among the meteorological factors to identify their significance with the traffic accidents. In addition, analysis of variance, t-test and a multiple regression technique is applied. Major findings from the analyses are discussed at the district point of view, including the different effect of weather condition and the interaction effect of rain and temperature in winter. The results of this study would be useful for developing management strategies to reduce car crashes and injury severity in Seoul.

Implementation of Smart Traffic Safety Systems using Fuzzy Theory

  • Traffic accidents due to excessive speed frequently occur in places where traffic signal controllers are installed, places where sharp curves exist, or places where the traffic signal cycle does not match the current time. These traffic accidents cause economic loss due to the destruction of road facilities and structures, and cause a big problem of increasing the number of traffic accident deaths. When a traffic accident occurs, leaving a tire mark before or after a car crash, pre-collision speed of the car is calculated using the law of conservation of momentum or the skid mark formula. In the skip skid mark generated in ABS brake vehicles and the combshaped yaw mark generated by tire trace caused by lateral sliding, there is a difference of 30-40% in the reliability of the vehicle speed calculated by the smite mark. In this paper, we propose an algorithm that can improve the calculation reliability in vehicle speed by using skid marks in order to compensate for this problem. In addition, we present an intelligent speed calculation algorithm for traffic safety and a computer simulation in order to prevent traffic accidents by estimating the speed of a vehicle, using Skid marks, Yaw marks, and ABS brake characteristics and fuzzy rules.

교통사고감소를 위한 자동차보험의 지역요인 반영에 관한 연구 (The Study of Reflecting Regional Characteristics in Car Insurance for Reduction of Traffic Accidents)

  • 이 연구는 교통사고감소를 위한 자동차보험의 지역요인 반영에 대해 다루고 있다. 연구의 목적은 지역별 자동차보험 적용방안에 대한 과학적인 검증절차를 수립하는데 있다. 이를 위해 이 연구는 지역별로 서로 다른 교통환경 요인에 대한 자동차보험 손해율과의 상관분석을 수행하였으며, 그 타당성을 검증하였다. 또한, 교통사고의 주된 원인인 인적요인에 해당하는 교통문화를 지역별로 구분하여 손해율간의 상관관계와 모형도를 제시하였다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 지역별로 교통사고를 유발하는 다양한 교통환경이 있음에도 불구하고 자동차보험요율은 획일적으로 적용되고 있는 문제점을 제기하였으며, 이를 해결하기 위한 방안으로 지역요인을 반영한 자동차보험정책의 도입을 주장하였다.

정성적 추론을 이용한 자동차 충돌 사고 재구성의 검증 (Verification of Automobile Collision Accident Reconstruction Using Qualitative Reasoning)

  • 자동차 충돌 사고 재구성이란 사고 상황으로부터 가능한 모든 정보를 수집, 분석하여 충돌로 인한 사고 거동 및 원인을 규명하는 작업이다. 본 논문에서는 자동차 사고 재구성에 직접 적용이 가능하도록 개발된 충돌 재구성 시스템을 소개하고자 한다. 본 시스템은 정량적 충돌 재구성 시스템과 정성 적 충돌 추론 시스템을 통합하여, 상호 보완적 역할을 통해 기존의 단일 시스템이 갖는 제한점들을 극복할 수 있었다. 통합된 시스템은 충돌로 인한 거동에 대한 정확한 예측과 아울러 정성 적 충돌 거동 묘사를 제공한다. 강체 동역 학 이론에 기초한 충돌 역 해석 과정 시 정성 적 시뮬레이션을 통해 잘못된 가설을 검증하여, 모순되는 가설을 초기 단계에서 찾아낼 수 있게 하였다. 또한 이 과정에서 인과 관계에 근거한 정성 적 설명을 제공함으로써, 수치 모델에 의해 예측된 결과의 이해를 도울 수 있었다. 본 시스템은 자동차 충돌 사고의 충돌에 적용되어 유효성을 입증할 수 있었다.

Danger Estimation with HIC and Risk Curve in Passengers Falls from Running Rail Cars

  • In 2001, an independent official board was constituted in Japan to investigate aircraft and railway accidents. In the past 10 years, many accidents and serious incidents have been investigated and these official reports were published by the board, on which the author had sat for 9 years as boarding member. In the interim, there were several train disasters which mocked our trust in railways and also many apparent trivial incidents. In recent years, serious incidents, which a door of running rail cars opens suddenly with some trouble, happen 2 or 3 times in a year. For the past 10 years, such incidents have happened 14 times and 13 cases of them were closed by the board mentioned above. In these 13 cases, no one fell off the rail car, so that the death toll was none luckily. In this paper, these 13 serious incidents are picked up among all the reports published by the board and outlined using some tables. Especially, fall accidents of passengers are discussed mainly from the view point of impact force and duration time. Then, the equation of HIC (Head Injury Criteria) and the risk curves in terms of the HIC are dealt with properly.

충청남도 지역의 119 구급으로 이송된 교통사고 환자의 발생 특성 (Current status of traffic accident victims who were transported by 119 ambulances in Chungcheongnam-do)

  • Purpose: The study aimed to analyze the current status of traffic accident victims who were transported by 119 ambulances within the administrative district of Chungnam province and provide essential data for accident prevention. Methods: The pre-hospital care records of patients who called the 119 emergency service in 2019 were obtained from the Chungnam Fire Department. Data pertaining to 13,663 traffic accident victims who were transported to hospitals were analyzed. Results: Patients in those aged ≥60 years accounted for 49.8% of the total cases. In patients aged ≥80 years(n=2,154), motor cycle accidents were highest as 28.3%. In addition, cultivator (n=135) and buggy car (n=79) accident victims were the highest in aged ≥80 years as 66.7% and 67.1%, respectively. Traffic accident victims-population ratio in Chungnam was 0.65%, wherein 2.03% included population aged ≥80 years. Conclusion: It was clear that accidents varied across administrative districts depending on the age group of population distribution. Thus, safety measures for preventing motorcycle, cultivator, and buggy car accidents are necessary for areas with many older people aged ≥80 years.

도플러 레이더 기반 차량 운전자의 심박 및 호흡 신호 검출 기법 연구 (Detection Scheme of Heart and Respiration Signals for a Driver of Car with a Doppler Radar)

  • 연구목적: 본 논문에서는 도플러 레이더를 활용하여 차량 운전자의 호흡과 심박을 추정하는 알고리즘을 제안하고 실험을 통해 연구의 가능성을 확인한다. 연구방법: 본 논문에서는 검출 신호의 peak 주파수 값과 가중치를 활용하는 weighted peak detection 기법을 제안한다. 정지 상태와 주행 상태에서의 실험을 통해 제안하는 두 알고리즘의 정확도를 분석한다. 연구결과: 제안하는 알고리즘을 통해 정지 상태에서 측정된 호흡과 심박 검출 정확도는 각각 95%, 96% 이상의 결과를 보였다. 또한 실제 주행 실험에서도 각 72%, 84% 이상의 정확도를 보여 주행 시의 활용 가능성을 확인하였다. 결론: 본 논문에서 제안하는 생세 신호 검출 기법은 차량 운전자의 호흡이나 심장 이상을 자동으로 검출함으로 운전자 본인 및 대형 교통사고를 예방하는 기술로 활용이 가능하다.

  • Recently, using GPS and equipment that recognizes the position of the car such a computer system inside the car are very universalized. Specially, the technique that diagnoses troubles and prevents troubles through scanning engine ECU is very popularized also. However, because these data have to be directly transferred and received from the car, in cases of traffic accident such as serious damage or car theft, it is impossible to receive the data at the time of accident. In order to receive and preserve the data safely regardless of these situations, it is possible to provide data for analyzing reasons of accident and prevent accidents from occurring by using wireless communication to receive the transferred information of the car, then saving into a Database system DB, or grasping the situation of the car and the driving pattern of drivers through analyzing stored data. Moreover, due to developing some related services such as providing the information about the real time of the accident, diagnoses of the car and alarms, etc. It is expected to contribute to creating added values.
