This paper attempts to investigate the determinants of capital structure of Vietnamese firms and also shed light on some of the factors of the modern theory of capital structure which is relevant for explaining the capital structure in advanced countries which are also relevant in the context of Vietnam. Using panel data from more than 1000 Vietnamese listed enterprises census 2017-2020, the paper finds that leverage ratio of Vietnamese firms is significantly related to probability. The firms have high level of fixed assets which they use as collateral, resulting in higher debt ratio, which is in line with the pecking order theory. The result also confirm that highly targeted debt ratio is positively correlated with the industry characteristics (using real estate firms as a benchmark), in which firm operates. Furthermore, consistent with the trade-off hypothesis, the leverage ratio is positively affected by non - debt tax shield. The result confirms that a large number of companies are state - owned, will have an insignificant impact of firm's size (as reverse proxy for bankruptcy cost) on leverage ratio. We also find that there is no distinction between state-owned enterprises and private enterprises due to strict adherence to the rules set by the Vietnamese government. Distinct from other countries, corporate income tax has slight impact on capital structure in Vietnamese firms.

The paper attempts to investigate the optimal capital structure of Vietnamese listed firms based on a structural approach. Using the data from around 70 companies in the Consumer Staples sector listed on the Vietnamese Stock Exchange during the period 2018-2020, this study finds that the optimal capital structure of examined companies has a wide range of diversification. This can be explained by the various types of actual products for each typical firm within the chosen sector. The result also confirms that a large proportion of researched firms were actually overleveraged, which is consistent with the trade-off hypothesis that firms wish to take tax advantages while using more debt, which creates the benefits from tax-shield. Furthermore, the research highlights the reversed correlation, which suggests that the lower the company's risk (the lower the sigma of the assets), the greater the optimal capital structure is suggested. Another interesting finding is that almost all consumer staples companies have a better optimal capital structure under the Leland and Toft (1996) model than under the Leland (1994) model. Furthermore, there is a strong correlation of optimal financial leverage ratio between years. In other words, the optimal debt levels of the latter year are strongly dependent on the gearing levels of the previous years.

The objective of the study is to empirically investigate the impact of bank capital on the lending behavior of Vietnamese commercial banks from 2007 to 2019. Lending behavior is captured by two dimensions, including the quantity (loan growth) and quality (credit risk) of loans. Instead of investigating loan growth and credit risk separately, we combine these two aspects in our study and further develop the interaction term between capital buffers and credit risk to capture the asymmetric impact. We apply the dynamic model (regressed by the generalized method of moments) and the static models (regressed using the fixed effects, random effects, and the pooled regression approach) to perform regressions. The results show that banks with higher capital ratios tend to expand lending more, while the risk of credit portfolios is controlled at lower levels at these banks. Further analysis reveals that credit risk mitigates some aspects of the relationship between bank capital and loan expansion. The patterns remain robust across alternative measures and econometric techniques. The study provides insightful policy implications for bank managers and regulators in the process of upgrading capital resources to ensure the safety and soundness of the banking industry in an emerging country.
Purpose: This study analyzed the relationship between corporate capacity and management performance in the Korean distribution industry during the COVID-19 pandemic. Research design, data and methodology: The data for this study used the 2021 KOTRA GCL Test Data, and multiple regression analysis was performed using SPSS 26. As corporate competency, human capital and related capital of intellectual capital theory were utilized, and the global network level of social network theory was also utilized. As an additional analysis, corporate characteristics factors were used. Results: First, the level of global mindset of human capital acted as a positive factor in management performance, and the level of professional manpower did not achieve significant results. Second, related capital acted as a positive factor in corporate performance. Third, from the perspective of social network theory, the global network level of companies acted as a positive factor in management performance. Finally, the relationship between corporate characteristics and management performance was marginally significant. Conclusions: In order to improve the business performance of a company in a market shock such as the COVID-19 pandemic, it is required to strengthen the level of network construction with customers and increase the level of intellectual capital that a company has.
This paper examines Korea's exports of manufactures to the United States, Japan, and other OECD member countries in the 1974-89 period, focusing on the market share in the trade partners' imports. It decomposes the growth of exports into various effects, following the "constant-market-shares" analysis. For this purpose, the entire period is divided into three subperiods: 1974-78, 1978-83, and 1983-89. The paper also estimates a regression model of the market share determination, using the data of Korea's market share in U.S. imports. In the three subperiods under study, Korea's exports grew at different paces for varied reasons. The average annual growth rate was 28 %, 11 %, and 21 %, respectively. A large drop in the "competitiveness effect", that is, in the market-share growth rate, was mainly responsible for the decline in the export growth rate. The largest drop in the competitiveness effect was found in the light manufactures exports in the second period. The market share did not regain the rapid growth momentum. The main reason for the rise in export growth rate in the last subperiod was the "market-size effect"-a rise in the growth rate of the trade partners' imports. According to the regression results, high intensities in physical and human capital tended to lower the Korean manufacturing industries' market shares in the United States. This negative correlation was stronger in the case of human capital intensity, suggesting that Korea is relatively poorer in human capital endowment than in physical capital endowment when compared to the United States. This negative correlation between the market share and each of the two intensities became weaker overtime. This may be interpreted as the consequence of both physical and human capital accumulation which were faster than the labor force growth. Depreciation of the Japanese yen was estimated to have a negative influence on the Korean manufacturing industries' market share in the United States, and this negative influence became stronger each year in the 1980s. This seems to reflect the intensifying competition between the two countries' exports in U.S. import markets. The Heavy and Chemical Industry Policy of the 1970s, which promoted a number of selected industries by providing them with various incentives and inevitably discriminated against the rest of the industries, was estimated to have had strong negative effects on the export performance of the light manufacturing industries. This finding and the largest decline in the "competitiveness effect" -found in the light manufactures exports in the 1978-83 period-indicate that the Heavy and Chemical Industry Policy was mainly accountable for the drop in the export growth rate during the period. On the other hand, the rise in export growth rate during the subsequent subperiod was greatly impacted by the large scale exchange rate realignments of major currencies, especially by the appreciation of the Japanese yen, and other changes in international economic conditions.

As the urban development economy is stagnating due to the reduction of the budget for Social Overhead Capital (SOC) and the stabilization policy of the real estate market, there is a steady increase in the interest of domestic construction companies to enter the overseas market. However, domestic construction companies are showing a decline in overseas urban development market as compared with advanced foreign companies having excellent financial management and overseas project management ability. Therefore, it is necessary for domestic companies to select an urban development model that meets the environment and the level of the country of entry, and to establish an advance strategy to manage the risks of overseas business. For this purpose, the factors of entry into the overseas urban development market through the existing research, literature analysis, and FGI were derived, and survey strategy and IPA analysis were conducted to develop strategies for entering the overseas urban development market. As a result, we have established a strategy for private companies to enter the overseas urban development market.
The purpose of this study is to analysis of the policy and problems of the capital gain tax. So this study identified the problems in the tax system and the method, suggested some ideas that can be useful for reforming the current capital gain tax system. The followings are the concise of some ideas. First, government should adopt the housing market stabilization policy in the long-term period, not in the short-term period which depend on the financial market and the part of home supply. Second, determining the capital gains tax should be transferred to actual market prices system rather than based on the standard assessed prices by government through the nations. By doing so, the desired principles of taxation come true such as principle of taxation on economic substance, principle of taxation on solid foundation and principle of taxation on tax paying ability. Third, transaction taxes should be minimized in the aborting the property speculations and the stabilizing the actual market prices. Fourth, the system of non tax to the owners of 'one family, one house' should be excluded to the tune of principle of tax equity. By doing so, tax payers could be induced to pay taxes on a timely basis not commit to wrong doings. In conclusion, anti-speculation policy should be progressed in such a comprehensive and sustained way as to wipe out the psychology of expectation about the transfer gain's incomes.
The international transactions of capital goods such as industrial plant exports, overseas constructions, and shipbuilding exports, are so huge that tremendous amount of funds are required, and that most of the loans are long-term credits of over five years. In the export of huge capital goods, financing is more crucial than technology itself. Some of the importing countries are developing ones that are politically and economically unstable. Therefore the financing mechanism for these transactions is conclusive in winning these projects. Global financial market instability caused by US sub-prime mortgage financial crisis expanded all over the world, and the international transactions have been decreased due to global credit crisis. This indicates how much influential the financing market is in international transactions. The financing schemes are classified into supplier credit and buyer credit by who provides the financing. A supplier credit is a credit extended by an exporter(seller) to an importer(buyer) as part of an export contract. Cover for this transaction may be extended by an export credit agency('ECA') to the exporter. In a sales contract a seller shall provide fund required to manufacture goods, and in a construction contract a contractor shall provide fund required to complete a construction. A buyer credit is an arrangement in which an exporter enters into a contract with an importer, which is financed by means of a loan agreement A Comparative Study on a Supplier Credit and a Buyer Credit in International Transactions of Capital Goods 155 where the borrower is the importer. In a sales contract a buyer shall provide fund required to manufacture and procure the goods, and in a construction contract an owner shall provide fund required to complete a construction. Therefore an exporter is paid on progressive payment method. A supplier credit and a buyer credit have their own advantages and disadvantages in the respect of the parties respectively. These two financing methods are selectively used considering financing conditions such as funding cost, importer's and/or exporter's financial conditions, importing country's political risk.

This paper is to give some hints to solve the problems of the Korean The third Market suffering from the extreme shortage of the liquidity. To solve that problem, this paper mainly compare the liquidity indices of the Third Market with that of the Japanese third market, that is Mothers. The main liqudity indices of the Mothers shows better than that of the Korean Third Market redardless of the small numbers of the listed Firms. The main differences in the liquidity levels between two markets is to caused by the trading system. The Korean Third Market has been adapting the one-to-one trading system which most stock markets of the world gave up that system owing to the inefficiency. This paper shows the proper trading system for the Third Market is competitve trading system partialy combined with the market maker system beacause of the small firm characterristics.
Over the past decades, financial markets have been integrated across countries while income inequality has increased in most countries. This paper studies the effect of financial market integration on income inequality and investigates whether this effect varies with the degree of financial market development. We find empirical evidence that financial market integration and financial market development interact to change income inequality. Specifically, the effect of financial market integration on income inequality is nonlinear, and the degree of financial market development plays an important role. Opening financial markets worsens income inequality in the countries holding the underdeveloped state of financial markets, however, the effect of capital account openness on income inequality is statistically insignificant in the countries with developed financial markets.
